Money Heist, or La casa de papel as its original title in Spanish, is clearly the most successful heist series of Netflix in recent years. The heist crime drama attracts audiences of all ages and nationalities for its heart-thumping scenes in every episode.
After the four series, some characters have died including Berlin and Nairobi. It seems in the last season, the team will take strong actions to claim back justice for Nairobi as all their fans have longed for.
Money Heist season 5 release date
In the latest teaser uploaded by Netflix last night, Money Heist season 5 will be released in two parts. The first part comes out on 3 September and the second arrives on 3 December, 2021.
This release date of Money Heist season 5 on Netflix is applied to all countries including India.
The fact that the last season is divided into two parts increases the thrill of the series as when you seem to have watched the final season, you actually don’t.
According to Alex Pina, the creator of Money Heist 5, the season 5 content has been changed from its original plan.
“When we began to write Part 5 in the midst of the pandemic, we felt that we had to change what was expected from the ten-episode season and used every tool we could to create the sensation of a season finale or series finale in the first volume itself. We decided to work in an extremely aggressive genre, putting The Gang on the ropes. In volume 2, we focus more on the emotional situation of the characters. It is a journey across their sentimental map that connects us directly to their departure.”
What will happen in Money Heist Season 5?
At the end of season 4, people witnessed the tearful death of Nairobi. Meanwhile, the dangerous woman Alicia Sierra is approaching the hideout of Professor and is very likely to catch him red-handed in the room.
As can be seen in the Money Heist season 5 teaser, Professor is tied up to the chair with desperate expression on his face. The team, at the bank, faces fierce attack from the army. There is anger and fire everywhere and the entire group gathers in one place to shoot back.
The teaser conveys a message. The heist is beyond a robbery, it’s a war now.
Beneath the teaser, a lot of fans share their speculations on what will happen in Money Heist season 5. Some doubt that Alicia Sierra is somehow related to Professor and the duo will revert the situation together.
Some believe the scene Professor tied up is just a trick as he always has plans for everything. It seems most fans agree with this prediction. In fact, there are two actors who confirmed to join the Money Heist cast in season 5 in undisclosed roles. Let's see whether they are the hidden aces of Professor to rescue the team in grave danger.
Money Heist Season 5 cast
Netflix teaser has confirmed the return of some familiar faces for Money heist season 5, while fans can also expect the appearance of new characters added in the mix. Here are the important roles in Money Heist season 5 cast.
Úrsula Corberó as Tokio
Among all the cast of Money Heist, the Tokio character or Ursula definitely receives the most criticism in the first season when she constantly ruins the original plan. However, the audience show more and more sympathy to this character in later seasons. Her strong personality, especially rebellious character, can be related to many of us today.
In season 5, the 31-year-old actress continues to star in the heist in the lead role, promising a lot of emotional twists for the series.
Álvaro Morte as El Professor
Morte is a seasoned actor of the Spanish film industry but only gained global fame after Money Heist. His intellectual but mysterious vibe fits perfectly in the role of El Professor. He is probably the most favorite character in the series.
Itziar Ituño as Inspector Raquel Murillo
Itziar is a 46-year-old Spanish actress who stars as Professor’s girlfriend or Inspector Raquel in the series. The success of Money Heist not only brought worldwide recognition to Itziar but also facilitated her English debut in the British movie Salvation Has No Name.
Miguel Herrán as Aníbal "Río" Cortés
Together with Tokio, Río forms the possibly most annoying duo in the series for his childish character. In the last season, he was tortured by Alicia but not revealing important information. El Professor successfully rescued Rio so he could join the team in the bank.
Thanks to Money Heist, Miguel Herrán has received various contracts for advertisement, including the one for Indian music streaming platform Gaana.
Jaime Lorente as Daniel “Denver” Ramos”
Who else heard the laugh of Denver when seeing his face or just me? Denver, along with his father, joined the heist and met his wife. He is now a father but continues to fight with the team as a revenge for his father’s death.
Denver is easy-to-predict character with straightforward emotions and rather “naive” thoughts.
Esther Acebo as Mónica Gaztambide
The 38-year-old Spanish actress and presenter plays the role of Stockholm who fell in love with her abductor. While enjoying a happy rich life with her husband Denver, Monica received the news on another heist from El Professor.
Despite her baby son, Monica decided to join the plan.
Darko Peric as Helsinki
Helsinki is a quiet man in the team who lost his twin brother in the last season. In the role of Helsinki, Darko did an excellent job refraining from inner emotions to always look calm on the outside.
Compared to other roles, Helsinki might not stand out but he surely left a deep impression on the audience as well as contributed to the overall success of the crime thriller.
Enrique Arce as Arturo Román
Here we have the most hated character in the entire series, the general director of Royal Mint of Spain who had affair with Monica before the heist took place.
Arturo was featured as a selfish and coward man, always staying behind to incite other hostages to go against the robbers. As the first heist took away almost everything from him, Arturo determined to ruin the Professor’s plan in the next seasons.
In the last episodes, Arturo was boycotted by other hostages for his predatory behaviours towards female characters. He is predicted to cause other troubles for the team in Money Heist season 5.
Miguel Ángel Silvestre (new cast)
Miguel is a 39-year-old Spanish actor who appeared in the Netflix original series Narcos and Sense8. Last year, the producer announced that Miguel would join Money Heist season 5 for an undisclosed role.
There isn’t information about Miguel’s character till now. Many guess he is a secret man of Professor and will only appear to rescue the team.
Patrick Criado (new cast)
Similar to Miguel, Patrick Criado is also informed of joining Money Heist season 5 cast in a new role.
The 25-year-old Spanish actor gained a reputation for his roles in Unauthorized Living and Riot Police.
Apart from these lead roles in Money Heist season 5, some characters might make a return as well such as Najwa Nimri as Alicia Sierra. However, we don’t see her in the teaser and haven’t got information about the development of this character as well.
