Recently we have the announcement of Nintendo that both The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Super Mario Odyssey will get support on the Nintendo Labo VR platform. Following that, we have received the exact details on how the BOTW will work when they release the free VR update on the 26th of April.
How to get it works?
Takuhiro Dohta (technical director of Breath of the Wild) has said in an online post the details of what the fan can expect to see in on the combination of Nintendo Switch and the goggles in Labo Toy-Con VR with our most famous titles in 2017.
According to him, first, they will need to execute the BOTW update on the 26th of April. To do this, they will need to open the menu, then go to System - Options, then toggle on the option for Toy-Con VR Goggles. After that, the users will need to place their Switch onto the VR Googles with both controllers connected to the sides. All the BOTW and Hyrule will be ready for them in VR. Noted that you could also turn off the motion control option as you want.
The control scheme will be similar to other standard games on the platform. As the players move their head, the in-game camera will move with them. We also have the recommendation from Nintendo to use the VR Googles when "there's something interesting to see, like a location with a great view, a favorite character, or a favorite piece of equipment."
Zelda: Breath of The Wild VR
The intention of Nintendo with this release of BOTW on VR is to "add a little twist to the world of Hyrule" and also give the players something new to explore in the game. By the way, this new mode will also work with your save data of the game, so you could keep continuing on your grand adventure in VR mode.
Super Mario Odyssey and Breath of the Wild will get the VR support on the 26th of April.
