BBC just launched Nightfall, an online mobile game that they claimed to target children. It is a top-down action RPG set in a dream world. The game encourages players to work together to defeat monsters and bosses. You can check out the trailer of Nightfall below.
As you can see in the trailer, the graphics in the game are really simple and cute, without any content that might be harmful to children. Alice Webb, BBC children's and education director, confirmed that there are no in-game loot boxes or microtransactions whatsoever in the game so parents don't need to be worry about accidentally losing hundreds of dollars.
Also, the game has a built-in system to protect players' private information, protecting children from scammers. The only way that players can communicate is through in-game emote. Players can enjoy the game worry-free with their friends and explore the work of Nightfall.
Nightfall is also a pretty enjoyable game that anyone can play, even adults. The game features a variety of different weapons, special abilities that you can upgrade using coins. You can also change the way your character looks with different masks and robes in the shop.
The gameplay is pretty simple and standard. Players control their character to avoid monsters' attacks while dealing damage using their torch.
Nightfall is currently available for Android, iOS, and PC (as a web browser game).
