The ender dragon is generally considered to be the final boss of Minecraft. It is a gigantic flying hostile mob found when players first enter the End. After killing the Ender Dragon it is actually possible to respawn it to continue farming dragon breath.
In this article, Gurugamer is going to showcase how to respawn the Ender Dragon in Minecraft 1.19.
Step-by-Step guide to respawn the Ender Dragon
After defeating the initial version of the Ender Dragon, the Exit portal becomes active.
1 - Craft End Crystals
Players can re-summon the ender dragon by placing four end crystals on the edges of the exit portal, one on each side. Therefore, they need to craft these blocks first. In order to create one, you will need an eye of ender, seven blocks of glass, and one ghast tear.
Eye of Ender can be created using Blaze Powder and Ender Pearl, while Glass is generated by smelting Sand. Lastly, Ghast Tears drop from killing Ghasts.
These End Crystals are also powerful explosive devices, with the ability to generate a bigger blast than TNT.
2 - Place 4 end crystals on the edges of the exit portal
The exit portal (also known as the end fountain) is a structure that enables the player to return to their spawn point, activating upon each defeat of the ender dragon.
If four are placed on the end exit portal, one on each of the flat sides, the crystals respawn the original end crystals on the obsidian pillars, as well as resurrect the dragon itself, before exploding. The top of each pillar also explodes, destroying any player-placed blocks.
Remember to pick up the dragon egg first before doing this, as if the player does not pick up the dragon egg and starts to re-summon the dragon, it disappears.
Why should you respawn the Ender Dragon?
Gather Dragon Breath
The harming effect portion of the purple clouds emitted from the dragon's breath attack can be collected in a glass bottle to obtain dragon's breath. This is a brewing item that is used solely to make lingering potions.
Lingering potions, in turn, can be used to create a lasting area effect cloud, or to craft tipped arrows.
Fighting the Ender Dragon
After killing the boss the first time, players might want to respawn him to retry with a different strategy. Practice is very important, especially if you are planning on doing a speedrun later.
Unlike the first dragon kill that drops 12,000 experience points, the respawned dragon only drops 500.
The dragon egg appears the first time the ender dragon is slain in Java Edition, and the first and second time in Bedrock Edition. This means players can respawn the dragon once to get the second egg. These eggs are useless right now and can only be used for decorations.
