There are only two bosses in Minecraft: The Ender Dragon and The Wither. While the latter is only considered to be a bonus boss, the former is the final boss of the game that you need to defeat. In this article, we will tell you how to defeat The Ender Dragon and get the Dragon Egg in Minecraft.

1 - Preparation for the fight

Blocks

The Ender Dragon is a fearsome beast with 10 attack damage and 200 health. It is very powerful and can smash through most blocks in the game, except for Obsidian and the End Stone. Build a room using obsidian next to the portal you spawn from then place an Ender Chest inside it to harvest End Stone. Get as much Obsidian as possible.

As the dragon can't destroy obsidian buildings, you can pre-build some structures using obsidian to hide inside if needed

Equipment

Bring a bow with the best Power enchantment you can get and a lot of arrows. Get a sword with high damage or Fire Aspect (to slay the Endermen around the area).

A good bow and a set of Diamond armor is enough to defeat the Ender Dragon.

Equip Diamond Armor with Protection 4 along with a Diamond Helmet. Avoid looking at Endermen to prevent drawing aggro.

Prepare some potions of Healing and Regeneration along with Golden Apples or Enchanted Golden Apples. Some Ender Pearls might be useful as well.

2 - How to fight the Ender Dragon

When the fight starts, make a beeline to the End Crystals on top of the Obsidian Pillars and destroy them. These crystals heal the Ender Dragon, therefore, you need to clear them all out in order to kill it.

To locate the End Crystals, just look for healing beams and follow them back to the source. Shoot the crystals with arrows until they are destroyed.

After all the Crystals are destroyed, it is time to go after the Ender Dragon. Aim for its head using your bow for quadruple damage. To get easy headshots, wait for the boss to chase you while charging an arrow, shot it, then fire as many times as you can. The boss will flee and you need to go after it until it fights you again. Repeat the same thing as before until the creature dies.

Get the Dragon Egg after the boss is defeated. Be careful, as the egg can teleport around when attacked. You can use this egg to resurrect the dragon but not be able to hatch it without using mods. In fact, it's just how we define the process.
