There are three types of XP in this game: Triad, Face and Police XP. Each serves a different purpose, with higher levels unlocking new abilities like hot-wiring cars and disarming opponents.

Jackie's goal is to rescue the soul of his dead girlfriend, who was trapped by the Darkness in Hell. He also has to confront the Brotherhood, a group of cultists who are trying to take away the Darkness from him.
