The sequel to the original Pillars was released in 2018 for PC, with a console release sometime in 2020. Deadfire takes everything that was enjoyable about the first game, refined them, and fixed the overall clunky feeling of the battle system.

Players’ party now traverses the seven seas on ships instead of land, as the scope expands to an unprecedented level. The quality of the story and sound departments remains unchanged – they are all super interesting and engaging. There is an option to switch between real-time pause combat and turn-based now, which is definitely a much-appreciated addition.

2 – Disco Elysium

One of the best games in 2019 for PC, Disco Elysium is a classic detective RPG, with various focus on character interaction, deduction, and storytelling. Players would step into the shoes of an alcoholic detective whose job is to unravel the mystery behind a murder

The events of the game are set in an alternate 1950s, in a former communist city called Revachol. Everything, from the game’s story to character interactions and progress are all based on the stats you have and their relations to the human psyche. This skill and conversation system is completely different from other games in the same genre – and that’s part of the reason Disco Elysium was that successful.

1 – Divinity: Original Sin 2

Released back in 2017 for the PC, Divinity: Original Sin 2 is definitely a worthy sequel for the original Divinity. Larian has taken every worthwhile mechanics from the first game and refined them to create one of the most open and polished RPG experiences.

Rivellon in the sequel has changed. It now automatically develops and reacts based on the decisions and actions that the player makes. The story is also further optimized and move away from the comical nature of the first game.

9 – Red Dead Redemption 2 (26.5 million)

Sequel to the critically acclaimed Red Dead Redemption, Red Dead 2 was first released on the Xbox One and PS4 in 2018, with a PC and Stadia release a year after that. It is an open-world RPG with action-adventure elements in a western theme. The game was in development for eight years and is one of the most expensive video game ever developed.

The sheer quality of the game, with its vibrant world and well-written storylines, has earned it quite a few awards in 2018, including several “Game of the Year”. While it was released only 2 years ago, the game still manages to break into the top 10 best sellers.

8 – Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 (26.5 million)

The other branch of Call of Duty was just as successful as Black Ops. Available on Xbox 360, PS3, Wii and PC, Modern Warfare 3 was the biggest title released in 2011. Being a direct sequel to the successful Modern Warfare 2 of 2009, Modern Warfare 3 has a massive number of preorders – with 6.5 million copies shipped on Day 1.

The game was the final installment of the original Call of Duty timeline, with all the previous protagonists’ going for a final confrontation with Makarov for the last time.

7 – Terraria (27 million)

Released back in 2011 for PC, Terraria is often dubbed “Minecraft 2D” due to its similar sandbox adventure nature. Rode on the unexpected success, Re-Logic has been porting the game to every platform imaginable, from even the handheld 3DS to the PS4. The core gameplay is similar to other sandboxes, with action-adventure, killing monsters and building bases.

While the game is available on every platform, the PC version is still the best, as it can support mods. You would think the 2D aesthetics would limit creative freedom – however, that is not the case in Terraria.

6 – Mario Kart 8 (27.5 million)

Released in 2014 as a Wii U exclusive, Mario Kart 8 pretty much carry the Wii U on its shoulder alone. It was the best selling game on that system, with over 8 million copies shipped. The core gameplay of Mario Kart is rather simple – race as characters from the Mario series on fantastical race tracks while gathering various boosts on the road.

The game was ported to the Switch immediately when it was released in 2017, with similar success. In fact, it has even become the best selling game on the system, with almost 20 million more copies sold. As this is a platform exclusive title, Mario Kart 8’s achievement is actually way more formidable than it seems.

5 – Diablo 3 (30 million)

The long-awaited sequel of Diablo 2 was released for PC in 2012, with various ports made later for both PS3/4 and Xboxes, along with a Switch release in 2018. While the game was not nearly as good as its prequels, Blizzard has done an excellent job in marketing and porting it, squeezing out every single penny as they could from the release.

Every port mentioned above, along with various Special Editions and DLCs have brought Diablo 3 to the top 10 best sellers of this generation, with 30 million copies shipped. It is likely that Blizzard would be able to continue this trend, as Diablo 4 is on the horizon.

4 – The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim (30 million)

Another multiplatform title, similar to Diablo 3 – Skyrim was originally released on PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 in 2011. Afterward, it was quickly ported to the PS4 and Xbox One in 2016, accompanied by a VR and Switch release in 2017. The “Bethesda released yet another version of Skyrim” has become an internet meme because of this.

TES V: Skyrim is definitely one of the most successful RPGs of all time, as Bethesda has perfected their formula after the previous entry, Oblivion. The easily moddable nature of the game is a huge plus, as it would extend the amount of content it has to almost infinity.

3 – Playerunknown’s Battlegrounds (50 million)

PUBG is the first game that manages to create a true battle royale experience – and that is the reason behind its explosive success on release. The game was available for Xbox One and PC in 2017, with two ports for the PS4 and mobile a year afterward.

While its growth has slowed down greatly, at the time of its release, the game dwarfed every other game on Steam on both player count and concurrent players. In PUBG, 100 players would be dropped into a massive map to fight against each other until only one survive.

2 – Grand Theft Auto 5 (115 million)

The source of Rockstar’s infinite stream of money, GTA 5 was released back in 2013 and has been considered the benchmark for any open-world ever released since then. While the game was only available on the PS3 and Xbox 360 at release, Rockstar did quickly ported it to other systems such as Xbox One, PS4, and PC.

RPG is one of the top genres in video gaming. During the course of history, there have been a lot of great games, however, usually, only the very best of them get remembered. The other titles, while being really close to greatness, often fall into obscurity. In this article, we will list out some of the top tier RPGs of yesteryear, which are really underrated.

10 – Jade Empire (PC)

BioWare was amongst the best video games developer back then, when they weren’t just a division of EA. Amongst their top titles, Jade Empire was one of the best. Originally released for the Xbox then ported to PC, the title took various inspirations from Chinese history and mythos to create an amazing real-time RPG. A moral system similar to other Bioware games like Knights of the Old Republic or Mass Effect would run parallel with the decisions that you made inside the game. From story choices to even skill build, a lot of things would factor into the system, which would lead you to various different endings. While Jade Empire only sold a modest number (only a few hundred thousand copies) it still has a devoted fanbase.

Their in-house development team, AM1 (later renamed to Overworks), was famous for a variety of different games. Their best hit on the system, however, is the RPG title called Skies of Arcadia. The events of the game are set in a fantastical world, with sky pirates and floating landmasses. Based on the rumors floating around, it looks like the company has been working on either a remake or a sequel to this title.

Mount and Blade: Warband is a prime example of how much expansion could improve the base game in general. Being a standalone expansion, the game was able to split and absorb the community of the original game to create a much strongest fanbase, who are most of the time being borderline fanatical. The amount of freedom that one could have playing this game is staggering. You can pretty much do everything, from mercenary works, creating factions to wage war, create your own kingdom… Mod supports also further increase the replayability of the game, as you can play in various different settings such as Lord of the Rings or Warhammer. While its visual assets are outdated, the game’s amazing combat and sheer depth are still able to carry it in today’s market.

A sequel named Bannerlord is going to be released this year.

7 – Grim Dawn (PC)

Whenever people mentioned ARPGs, it is usually Diablo, Path of Exile and Warframe that would get the spotlight. However, Grim Dawn from Crate Entertainment is definitely in the same tier. The game was a great homage to Diablo 2, with the same style of world design and dark atmosphere, along with the signature hack and slash skill-based combat. The customization aspect of this game is pretty decent, with seven unique classes that can be used to create various combinations. Replayability is great as well, as the dungeon is randomly generated – that, along with the wave-based crucible, would have you sink dozens or hundreds of hours.

6 – The Age of Decadence (PC)

While story-driven gameplay and choice/consequences are very valued in RPGs today, it is pretty weird that The Age of Decadence from Iron Tower Studio is more often than not overlooked. The events of the game are set in a post-apocalyptic world with an unusual Roman Empire twist. There are numerous choices made available to the player in order for them to customize every playthrough, as you can pick between combat, pacifism and more. It is heavily recommended to build a specialist character in this game, however, as the Jack of all Trades approach would lead you nowhere. This title is definitely worth checking out if you are looking for something with depth and replayability.

5 – Torment: Tides of Numenera (PC)

Created by inXile Entertainment, the brain behind the rebirth of Wasteland series, Torment: Tides of Numenera is an attempt to continue the legacy of the cult classic Planescape: Torment. While the combat aspect of the game wasn’t done that well, it can’t be denied that this game is a story/consequence driven game with some great characters. If you are into stuff like Planescape and reading, Tides of Numenera would definitely a great pickup.

4 – Legend of Grimrock 2 (PC)

A classic dungeon crawler in the style of older games in the 90s that was remade with current graphics standards, Legend of Grimrock 2 is definitely a curious game. Made by indie developer Almost Human, in Grimrock 2, you would be exploring a mysterious island in the first person. The difficulty is pretty unforgiving, as you would usually have to go with the “try over and over” approach. While the visual is not actually something worthwhile, Grimrock 2’s excellent puzzles, gameplay, and challenging combat make it worth a try.

3 – Phantom Brave (PC)

Nippon Ichi Software has been one of the big names in the JRPG scenes, however, none of their game except a select few was able to break into the top, as there are just too many competitions. Phantom Brave is amongst that number. The story of the game revolves around a girl called Marona, whose ability lets her communicate to various spirits known as Phantoms. Her main ability is to imbue an object with a phantom, which would provide various skills and bonuses that would greatly affect gameplay. Combine that with various RPGs staple like movement modifiers, fusion spells, and item construction, Phantom Brave is definitely one of the best obscure turn-based JRPG.

2 – Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines (PC)

The last title made by the original Fallout squad while they were Troika Games, Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines was an adaptation of the famous tabletop settings World of Darkness. While the game didn’t sell very well and has numerous technical issues such as bugs and glitches, the sheer quality of its contents earned quite a few positive reviews. You would play as a newly created vampire in the city of Los Angeles and explore everything the underworld has to offer. The depth of the game is concentrated on whatever class you picked, as they all have distinct differences that would change your playthrough completely.

A sequel is going to be released in 2020. If you want to play the original, it is best to get the unofficial patch for the game first.

1 – Tyranny (PC, Xbox)

The selling point of this game is its unique premise. The events of the game happened after the end, in which the evil side has won and destroyed everything to create a new world order. You would step into the shoes of a Fatebinder, a servant of the Dark Lord, with the duty to clean up everything left in the aftermath. Tyranny asks you a lot of hard questions – as you have to choose between all those evil choices. Decisions would affect the storyline, along with whatever skills you often use. Tyranny is definitely a unique experience that fans of the genre should not miss.

10 - Granblue Fantasy: Relink (PS4)

Based on popular mobile game Granblue Fantasy from Cygames, Granblue Fantasy: Relink would be a spinoff action RPG for the PS4. The game would include various characters from the main cast of the series going on a completely new adventure in a different location from the mobile game altogether. The soundtrack of the game would be handled by Nobuo Uematsu, composer of Final Fantasy series, with Platinum Games of Devil May Cry fame working on the combat mechanics. There would be up to four players coop mode, with the empty slots filled by AI. The game would be released sometime in 2020.

9 - The Legend of Heroes: Trails of the Beginning (PS4)

Falcom has been trying to localize and port all Trails games to PC, with Trails of Cold Steel 4 still on the work. However, they have wasted no time moving on to the next game. Trails of the Beginning is going to be the most ambitious entry of the series, as it is aimed to be a turning point for the grand conclusion of the series. There would be a lot of old and new characters getting featured in Beginning, from all related games like Trails in the Sky, Trails of Cold Steel and more. Gameplay-wise, the Trails series is more or less the usual JRPG, with everything a JRPG should have, and more. The Japanese version of this game should be available in Sept 2020.

8 - Ys IX: Monstrum Nox (PS4)

Another title from Falcom, the next installment of the famous Ys series, Monstrum Nox, is planned for a Sept 2020 release in the west. Based on the developer’s localization trend and the quality of the previous works, it just makes sense that they took some time to polish the thing before shipping. YS IX’s gameplay is pretty much the same system in the previous games but modified. It is a third-person hack & slash with a lot of RPG elements and customization. Players will step into the shoes of protagonist Adol Christin on a journey to the prison city to investigate a mysterious disappearance.

7 - Tales of Arise (Xbox One, PS4, PC)

The most ambitious Tales game to date, Tales of Arise would focus on two worlds called Rena and Dahna and the conflicts between their inhabitants called Shionne and Alphen. There isn’t much information available about the game yet, but from what’s already revealed, we have nothing to worry about. Tales of Arise would keep the successful Linear Motion Battle System from the previous title and port the entire thing to Unreal Engine 4. The game is going to look fantastic.

6 - Cyberpunk 2077 (PC, PS4, Xbox One)

One of the biggest releases this year, Cyberpunk 2077 and the Cyberpunk franchise are going to be CD Projekt Red’s trump cards for lots of years to come. The game is an FPS/RPG hybrid set in the futuristic Night City, in which crime, corruption and technology reign supreme. As Protagonist V, players would carve for themselves a path to the top of the city, with their choices affect the fate of the world around them. Cyberpunk 2077 will be released on Apr 16 for both console systems and PC.

5 - Mount and Blade 2: Bannerlord (PC)

The long-awaited sequel to Mount & Blade, Bannerlord, is finally getting out of development hell. It would be released into early access on Steam in March 2020. There are a lot of things to look forward to, as you would be able to further customize classes for your soldier and modify them with points. A marriage system is also introduced, as you would be able to raise your son to take your place if you die. Gameplay-wise, Siege warfare and dialogue options are improved, as you can get more out of building siege engines. The game would have the same vibe as the original Mount & Blade, but with added complexity.

4 - Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot (PS4, PC, Xbox One)

Goku and friends return in yet another video game remake of Dragon Ball Z.  The game would be covering everything in the original manga of Dragon Balls, from the Raditz Saga to the Buu Saga. Along with the introduction of the action RPG elements, you would be taking on missions, battling, training and powering up… all to beat the story missions. Unique powers like Super Saiyan or Fusion would be unlocked during missions. Experience the whole Dragon Balls Z again with Kakarot – the game will be released on Jan 17.

3 - Final Fantasy 7 Remake (PS4)

The remake for the most famous Final Fantasy Game is finally getting a release date. Final Fantasy 7 remake is the first part of the original Final Fantasy game, with gameplay changes and reimagined storyline. The combat would be a version of FF 15’s battle system – there would be some turn-based options but they would not affect the gameplay much. The mini-games and events would make a comeback as well, as you would have to beat them to get special items and bonuses. Final Fantasy 7 Remake would be released on March 3, exclusively on the PS4.

2 - Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition (Switch)

Xenoblade Chronicles, which was originally launched in 2012 for Wii, is going to be ported to Nintendo Switch as Definitive Edition. The game would feature completely remade visuals, from player models to textures to environment assets. Previously removed contents from the original game are also getting added back in the definitive edition. Based on the initial reveal trailer, the adventure of Shulk and Fiora would continue some time in 2020.

1 - Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 (PS4, Xbox One, PC)

An unlikely sequel to the original masterpiece Vampire Masquerade, Bloodlines 2 would take players back to the World of Darkness, but this time, the events of the game would occur in Seattle. You would start your adventure as a clanless Thinblood, and rise through the ranks during the course of the Vampire War to the top of the food chain. Your decisions and actions would affect the fate of the city and the world itself. Gameplay-wise, it’s an excellent RPG, with amazing customization on both characters and story choices. Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 would be released next year for PS4, PC and Xbox One.

Those games are the most outstanding titles that feature stunning visuals on PC, some of which have even pushed beyond the graphical limits of what can a PC game feels like in the decade. To make those PC games beautiful, we must say thanks to the technical empowerment as well as the developers' efforts in the smallest details.

Without further ado, let's get into the first one:

8. A Plague Tale: Innocence

Supported platforms: PC, PS4, Xbox One

I can't count how many times I've written about this game in the year-end complications recently. However, considering how hauntingly beautiful both the visuals and the story of A Plague Tale: Innocence is, it's worth another try. It dates back to the landscape of France in the Middle Ages, where the two siblings have to run away and survive in an unforgiving world.

Visual-wise, A Plague Tale: Innocence is definitely one of the most gorgeous PC games in the industry. Thanks to the power of the photogrammetry technology (basically capturing the real world in pictures and render it to pack in the game), the developer Asobo Studio has created a life-like survival experience in the darkest historical era of the world.

Additionally, the game has done a great job in the lighting system and making detailed characters, so that you can immerse in the severe conditions that Amicia and her infected brother Hugo has to experience. It still has some flaws like the lip-syncing or some stuttering animations, but overall, A Plague Tale: Innocence is still impressively aesthetic.

7. Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Breakpoint

Supported platforms: PC, PS4, Xbox One, Stadia

Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Breakpoint (often called Ghost Recon Breakpoint for short) is the eleventh installment in the Ghost Recon franchise. The game was launched only two months ago for PC, but it doesn't take long to become one of the most beautiful online action-shooter in the industry with its environmental effects.

Considering its gameplay, Ghost Recon Breakpoint is truly a disappointment. Priming itself as a tactical shooter, Ubisoft's game is more like a pay-to-win title rather than planning or team working one. Setting that aside, Ubisoft has done a great job optimizing the game, making it run smoother than the previous title - Wildlands.

Apart from the optimization, Ghost Recon Breakpoint looks great as well. The developer also used the photogrammetry technology to texturize the game, and also bring weather conditions into account. With a decent PC, players can enjoy the beautiful grass waving in the wind while hiding in places waiting for the order to strike. The only thing that this game hasn't done well is the character models not on par with what other rivals like Call of Duty or Battlefield offer.

6. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare

Supported platforms: PC, PS4, Xbox One

Following very tightly to Ghost Recon Breakpoint, we've Activision's most ambitious title Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. We can't deny that CoD: Modern Warfare looks great and plays even better, as it has won the Best Online Multiplayer Game of 2019, but it only stands in the third place due to the annoying pop-in issues (basically, your control point keep shrinking with black border).

Nevertheless, you can still see how detailed the missions in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare are:

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare features Ray Tracing supports, which you can turn on to feel how the lighting quality drastically changes. However, as the nature of a first-person shooter, people tend to favor frames rather than quality, so not many decided to use the features. But even without that, the game still looks incredible with its details in every particle effects.

To be more specific, the environment looks very realistic, but at the same time, it doesn't obstruct players' abilities to observe battlefields at all. Characters' model has always been CoD advantages and this installment is not an exception. If Activision finds a way to solve its pop-in problems, the game would easily steal a higher place.

5. Resident Evil 2 Remake

Supported platforms: PC, PS4, Xbox One

While the two previous shooters focus on the first-person realistic experience, Resident Evil 2 Remake focuses more on horror elements with creepy zombies that you'll blow their flesh off. Release in January 2019, Capcom's most famous game keeps getting mentioned over and over for its gameplay and story, but little appreciate how horrifying yet beautiful it is.

We all know that remake games often look way better than its original version, but Resident Evil 2 Remake has done much more than that. It has brought the amazing third-person shooting experience in the original game to modern's visual standards, and even push it further by featuring detailed body dismemberment.

Featuring one of the best characters model design in the industry, every movement you make and every shot your fire looks absolutely life-like. All of them are embellished by the perfect lighting for a horror game as well as the environment interactivity. It still has some noise problems, especially when you're soaked in the rain, but it's nothing too big to mention here.

4. Red Dead Redemption 2

Supported platforms: PC, PS4, Xbox One, Stadia

Originally released for PlayStation 4 in 2018, Red Dead Redemption 2 has already received a lot of praise from both players and critics for its visuals and also its Wild West concept. So, the moment Rockstar announced that they will port the game to PC, fans have gone hype, but then completely disappointed at how many bugs its PC version has.

Set that aside, if you haven't heard of this blockbuster from GTA's developer, watch this trailer for details:

At least Rockstar is very active in providing patches to make its PC version stable. And if its initial launch version is not a total failure, the game may have a higher spot on this list. Red Dead Redemption 2 stands out for its character models and phenomenal environmental effects, as the developer has successfully portrayed the untouched beauty of nature. You can even see the snowflakes falling from the sky, as well as shining and melting when the sun rises.

If you're into an open-world adventure game, Red Dead Redemption 2 is a must-try. But I highly recommend waiting for more bug fixes to come first.

3. Detroit: Become Human

Supported platform: PC, PS4

Detroit: Become Human is the last game from Quantic Dream's PS4-exclusive trilogy including Heavy Rain and Beyond: Two Souls. And as the latest title in the pack, Detroit: Become Human has done what it should be: imagining a futuristic world with Androids in the most detailed way.

Even though the game was not optimized well to run on mid-end or low-end PC, it still looks phenomenal if your machine can carry its detailed levels. It's an open-world narrative game with choice-driven mechanics, in which you can enjoy wandering in a futuristic world with a lot of modern technology.

However, the most outstanding graphical features of Detroit: Become Human is its lip-syncing that makes you feel like the characters are speaking themselves rather than just mumbling. And together with the well-done quick-time events that freeze time and make everything in slo-mo, it's definitely one of the best looking PC games of 2019.

The latest game from Remedy Entertainment - Control - would easily secure a spot in every top list regarding visual quality. The game is stunningly beautiful with its real-time ray tracing effects - actually, one of the best PC games in the industry to make use of this new innovative lighting tech.

You can feel the satisfaction with every time you change the form of your gun, every gunfight with explosions and bullets interaction, as well as every step you make exploring the secret facility. RTX was used in almost everything this game features: shadow, illustrations, reflections effects.

1. Quake II RTX

Quake II is a very old game (22 years old), but none of us have expected that its remake can be this ground-breaking. Starting from the work of a fan namely Christoph Shied, Nvidia has picked Quake II RTX up, and doing the best they can to stuff its most advanced ray-tracing effects in.

The only thing similar to Quake II and Quake II RTX is that they are the PC games that only beast machines at their date can handle. At its first demo, the game looks gorgeous with the 'path-tracing' improvements (basically bringing almost everything ray-tracing can do to work independently in a game).

However, it resulted in the incapability of making the game running at 60fps - which is not optimal for a first-person shooter. Later on, a patch was delivered by Nvidia, not only optimizing the game significantly but also bring more RTX effects without hurting the game's performance. And now, it's just a perfect combination of the legendary FPS experience and the visuals that surpass our imagination.

Cyberpunk is an old genre, dated back to the 1980s. It is a subgenre of science fiction that takes place in a dystopian future setting in which people struggle in a high-tech world that doesn’t really care. Prominent elements in the settings are various technical and scientific advancements like AI and cybernetics (that’s the “cyber” part).

10 – Anachronox

Another Cyberpunk game from Ion Storm, Anachronox is pretty unique, featuring elements that are vastly different from the usual trope (indie-rock). You would spend the whole game traveling around with Anachronox, a shrunken planet, as your companion. About the gameplay, it is more or less a JRPG with turn-based action in a 3D map. You will be exploring space vessels, futuristic cities, and alien landscapes playing this game. While it’s rather dated, the experience is pretty much unforgettable.

9 – Beneath A Steel Sky

The Point & Click adventure Beneath A Steel Sky offered a different take to the cyberpunk setting – the protagonist gets dropped into a city that’s controlled by a sadistic omnipresent AI computer system named LINC. To save the city and your own life, you have to dig into the cyberspace for clues while avoiding all the potential dangers. Your trusty robot companion, Joey, would be with you all the way. The best part is that the game is completely free.

8 – Technobabylon

A fantastic point & click game, Technobabylon actually stands out by going against the usual cyberpunk trope. The genre is cold, more often than not, with a lot of focus on the pessimism feeling of humans living in a dystopia, along with the inhumanity of technology. The main story of the game focuses on entirely human elements like family, isolation, loss, and community. The staple genre elements remain, however, with human bombs terrorists, restaurants with cloned human flesh, and the like.

7 – Va-11 Hall-A

While most other games are about fighting the system, the scope of Vallhalla is way smaller. It is a mix of a bartending sim and visual novel sim, with you trying to mix a good drink for your customers while listening to their life story. Only by doing it correctly would you make them talk and reveal more details about the cruel world outside. Combined that with the excellent music, Vallhalla is a great game to play while chilling.

6 – EYE: Divine Cybermancy

EYE is an RPG/FPS in which your objective is just to grind through waves upon waves of enemies, with your guns and special power. The story begins with you awoke from a coma, with all your squadmates dead around you. Your quest afterward is to go on a rampage of revenge and stop the big bad from destroying the world. This game is best for people whole love the combat of Deus Ex.

5 – System Shock 2

This series is a deviation from the usual cyberpunk tropes, as it happens in a futuristic space station. However, the thing remains to be one of the most successful attempts ever made in the genre. The first game’s villain, Evil AI Shodan is back, with a lot more tricks under its sleeve. While the game ditched the cyberspace parts from the previous series, it made up for the loss by new elements of “transhumanism”, in which you would modify your own body by various enhances.

4 – Watch Dog 2

While Watch Dog 2 has way fewer Cyberpunk elements than its predecessor, it is a far better game. It has taken every good thing from the first game and fine-tuned them, such as the city hacking and weapon hacking. Overall, the sequel does not have much of a story, but it is still serviceable. The new protagonist, Marcus Holloway, is way more compelling than the previous one, as he is actually a part of something important.

3 – Blade Runner

Westwood’s adaptation of Blade Runner has definitely been pretty successful in replicating the feel of the movie, with all the locations recreated with a fully detailed background. The game is a brand new story in the same universe, which occurs at the same time as the movie. In this game, you would get to immerse yourself in the settings and do a lot of exciting things such as the Voight-Kampff test or fight replicants.

2 – Shadowrun: Dragonfall

The best Shadowrun game to date, with excellent story and gameplay. Shadowrun is a little bit different from the usual cyberpunk settings, with various new additions like magic and fantastical creatures. The twists work, as the setting is fresh to everyone, even the die-hard fans of the genre. This is a turn-based heavy RPG game, with your stats and character build affecting every decision you make inside the game. The best part of the game, however, is the story – a masterful adventure with all the twists and turns.

1 – Deus Ex Human Revolution

While the first game is great, it is too outdated, and some of its ideas are not suitable for today’s standards. Human Revolution was built around conspiracy theories, transhumanism, and its repercussions. You would step into the shoes of Adam Jensen, a super cop whose job is to unravel a conspiracy related to his employer and the future of the world. The gameplay was designed masterfully, with both stealth and combat weaved together by a unique RPG system.
