If you are looking for a good RPG to play on your low end PC, these 5 titles are probably the best you could get in 2021.]]>

Amongst the various genres in video gaming, RPG or Role Playing Games is probably the most popular. In this kind of game, players will put themselves in the shoes of a brand new character in the game's universe and explore them, usually saving the world in the process. In this article, we are going to list out the top 5 best RPG games for low end PC.

Table of Contents

 • 1 - Pillars of Eternity
 • 2 - South Park: The Stick of Truth
 • 3 - Divinity: Original Sin
 • 4 - Dark Souls
 • 5 - The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

1 - Pillars of Eternity

In this game, you will lead your own band of companions exploring a brand new fantasy realm and into the depths of monster-infested dungeons. Pick between 6 races, eleven classes, and 5 core skills to fight enemies while searching for lost treasures and ancient mysteries.

The story is fairly engaging, right from the start. Your decisions matter - the choices you make and the paths you choose shape your ending. There is also a reputation system where you can side with different factions.

Pillars of Eternity is pretty lightweight amongst RPG games for low end PC

2 - South Park: The Stick of Truth

Video games based on TV series are usually bad, but surprisingly, South Park: The Stick of Truth is an exception to that rule. Players will step into the shoes of a new, original character in the South Park cartoon universe. The story and humor are probably the best part of the game - they are written by the creators of South Park, Trey Parker and Matt Stone.

In this game, players can participate in exciting turn-based combat involving classic South Park characters like Stan, Kyle, Cartman and Kenny. Arm yourself to the teeth with an arsenal of household items and join them in a hysterical adventure to save South Park.

South Park
South Park's graphics are super low - it is one of the best RPG games for low end PC.

3 - Divinity: Original Sin

Divinity: Original Sin is a prequel to the original Divinity Series. It fuses the amazing combat system of the series with the limitless choices of the Baldur's Gate series. Players will control a party, with each member having abilities that affect the environment.

To get an edge in combat, you need to learn how to combine these skills together. For example, a boulder strike would create an area of sludge that can be ignited with fire; casting rain to extinguish the fire and create fogs to obstruct the battlefield. By mastering these reactions, players will smash through various enemies and puzzles on their way to save the world.

4 - Dark Souls

Dark Souls is generally regarded as one of the most influential games in the last decade because of its unforgiving difficulty. There is no tutorial, no hand holding, no pause. Players are given a weapon then kick out into an unforgiving world.

The combat system is probably the best part, with everything in the game hitting hard and fast. You need to learn the moves of enemies, how to use your weapon, and correct timings in order to come out on top.

Dark Souls
You can actually beat Dark Souls without leveling your character even once.

The world design in Dark Souls is probably the best part of the game, as every area in the game is connected to each other in a brilliant way. Massive hidden areas and features await the most dedicated adventurers. The PVP/Co-op aspect of Dark Souls is also liked by fans. Players can invade others to fight as a red spirit or aid them against bosses as a white spirit.

5 - The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

Amongst all games Bethesda ever released, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is probably the best. The story revolves around the player character, Dragonborn, in their quest to defeat the dragon Alduin to save the world. The game takes place in Skyrim, the northernmost land in the world of Tamriel, heavily inspired by Northern Europe.

Skyrim
Fighting dragons in Skyrim

The best part about Skyrim, top 10 open world games that needs longest time to complete, is that there are just so many things to see and do. The open world is massive, filled with both marked and unmarked quests, alongside a lot of zones to explore. The game continues the open-world tradition of its predecessors by allowing the player to travel anywhere in the game world at any time, and to ignore or postpone the main storyline indefinitely.

The RPG system is fairly deep, with players being able to choose between ten main races and 18 skill trees. Skyrim's combat is the usual "sword and sorcery" style, with players improving skills the more they use it.

2020 has almost come to an end. With the covid pandemic this year forcing people into quarantine, the video game industry has grown faster than ever before, with mobile games spearheaded the trend. In this article, we would list out the Top 10 Best Games In The World For Android, along with their general description.

Top 10 Best Games In The World For Android

 • 1 - Minecraft
 • 2 - Fortnite
 • 3 - Call of Duty Mobile
 • 4 - GTA San Andreas
 • 5 - Genshin Impact
 • 6 - Garena Free Fire
 • 7 - Stardew Valley
 • 8 - Arknights
 • 9 - Among Us
 • 10 - Knights of the Old Republic

1 - Minecraft

One of the most popular games in the world – Minecraft pretty much needs no introduction. This survival game can offer hundreds of hours in playtime, along with an optional creation mode in which you can craft your own world endlessly. There is also an adventure mode, which is the survival mode but with various restrictions that can spike up the gameplay. Overall, this game is definitely worth your money, and it is suitable for players of any age.

2 - Fortnite

Epic Game's free-to-play battle royale has the biggest twist in gameplay - besides fighting each other to the death, players also gather resources in the environment to build structures, which can be used for various purposes like protecting fallen allies, getting the high ground... etc. Fortnite also has fairly low graphics requirements and crossplay between Mobile and PC, something no other battle royales have. The weakness of Fortnite is that you might not like the style, as is the farthest away from "realistic". Overall, Fortnite is the best battle royale game on mobile.

Fortnite

3 - Call of Duty Mobile

This is a mobile game based on one of the biggest shooter franchises in the world, Call of Duty. Due to their prior experiences of designing shooters, it pretty much took no time at all for Call of Duty Mobile to carve out its own territory in the "top battle royale" list. The game exploded in both India and the world when it was released - and its player base has been pretty stable ever since. The battle royale mode is not the main attraction of this game, however, as the normal game modes seem to be heavily focused on.

4 - GTA San Andreas

One of the best selling Rockstar games has been ported into the Android platform, fully remastered and optimized. GTA San Andreas is an open-world action-adventure RPG with over seventy hours of content - possibly more if you are a completionist.

GTA San Andreas
GTA San Andreas

The game performs pretty well on most mid-tier android devices. In this game, you would step into the shoes of Carl Johnson and walk the part of crime and corruption why trying to uphold your honor and protect your family.

5 - Genshin Impact

Genshin Impact is the newest mobile RPG blockbuster this year, made by miHoYo of Honkai Impact 3 fame. The game is probably the most ambitious mobile open-world RPG to date, with beautifully designed maps just as big as any famous open-world titles in the market like Witcher 3 or Breath of the Wild. You would be able to climb mountains, swim across rivers and glide all over the huge world map, taking in beautiful sceneries on the way. No other mobile ARPGs have had this amount of effort put into it.

Genshin Impact
Top 10 best open world games: Genshin Impact

6 - Garena Free Fire

Free Fire’s player count per match is half the size of PUBG, with only 50 players fighting in a smaller map – each match would last approximately ten minutes. Overall, it is a great midway title, if you enjoy something shorter than the usual PUBG. After PUBG Mobile was removed from the country, Free Fire has climbed to the top spot amongst battle royales in India.

7 - Stardew Valley

Stardew Valley is a life/farming sim that can easily create hundreds of gameplay hours for players who are interested in the usual farming games. Things start off rather simple, with you growing some crops and raising a chicken – but soon enough you would be controlling fields and massive ranches while exploring a mysterious dungeon. Stardew gives you massive hours for your money – probably the most efficient purchase on this list.

Stardew Valley

8 - Arknights

This game is pretty unique in the genre, being a tower defense with gacha elements. In Arknights, you would build up a roster of characters through the gacha system then use them in place of the “towers” to fend off waves of enemies in maps. Each character would have their own stats, skill, traits, abilities… just like an RPG. The map designs are super unique as well, with each new level a fresh challenge.

9 - Among Us

Among Us has taken over the world by storm - it is a multiplayer social deduction game... in which you have to figure out which one amongst your crew is the killer and eliminate him before it is too late. Play online or over local wifi with 4-10 players as you attempt to hold your spaceship together and return back to civilization.

The Government of India has banned over 250 Chinese applications this year, including the popular game PUBG Mobile, citing public security reasons.]]>

Due to the heated border standoff against China, the government of India has blocked access to a total of over 250 Chinese applications this year. The ban waves hit in June, September and November, with the popular game PUBG Mobile and Tiktok getting hit in Sept.

In this article, we would list out the top 5 apps that were banned this year.

1 - Tiktok

Tiktok

Tiktok is a short-video streaming platform from China with over 120 million monthly active users in the country. With this app, users can edit 15-second clips with audio and effect aided by creative tools. Tiktok is owned by Chinese company ByteDance... and they are in the progress of selling the Indian division of the app to Mukesh Ambani’s Reliance Industries Ltd.

2 - PUBG Mobile

Pubg Mobile Lite

This has been a huge blow to India's esport industry... as PUBG was the most popular video game in India. It has been bringing Tencent, its Chinese owner, a lot of profit. While the app was banned back in Sept, they waited until November to finally shut the server of the game down for good.

Since then, the company has been trying its best to distance itself from China in order to get back to India... however, it remains to be seen if their efforts are going to be effective. A separate Indian division and a brand new version of the game has been created.

3 - AliExpress

AliExpress was fairly popular in India... and because of that, it was included in one of the first ban waves. While it had managed to evade the previous crackdowns against Chinese Apps... its luck couldn't last forever. AliExpress is from the Chinese tech giant Alibaba, which has made various big investments in India.

4 - Shareit

Shareit Android Hack

This app was the premier file transfer service for mobile before the ban - it made file sharing between systems like Android and iOS much easier... and it also has a much faster speed than the usual Bluetooth. With many other alternatives, this app might be gone for good in India.

5 - CamScanner

Cs Icon Ios En Cut

CamScanner is an app the allows Android or iOS devices to be used as image scanners. You can scan documents and share them as either JPEG or PDF files using this app.

In the world of cinema, it is common to find that many of your favorite movies whose stories are actually adaptations of books. video games based on books

People don't often think the same of video games. Few would imagine that a video game as a distinct visual and interactive medium could be born from the white pages of a novel. But the truth is that there have been such cases, quite a lot in fact.

And unlike what happens in many movies, who can afford to limit themselves to simply following the plot of their original source, the process of adapting a book to a video game is more complex. People find themselves asking is The Witcher video games based on books because they don't feel like reading a book at all when they play the games.

video games based on books

It is about taking the universe, atmosphere, or theme of a book and translating it into a completely new language. A task that may be more or less faithful to the original source (to the point of almost all its similarities fading away), but can still produce the best video games based on books worthy of the original material.

Are you still wondering what video games are based on books? This is what our list of video games based on books will help you with, by listing 1 of the best games that got their inspiration from the written word.

10 Best Video Games Based on Books

Table of Contents

 • 1. BioShock
 • 2. Assassin's Creed
 • 3. The Witcher
 • 4. Parasite Eve
 • 5. Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six
 • 6. Metro 2033
 • 7. STALKER: Shadow of Chernobyl
 • 8. Spec Ops: The Line
 • 9. Dynasty Warriors
 • 10. The Binding of Isaac

Video Games Based on Books (1/5)

1. BioShock

Although not an exact adaptation, BioShock is strongly influenced by author Ayn Rand's objectivist novels, a philosophy that extols complete individualism and capitalism.

But, unlike Rand's idea, expressed in novels such as Atlas Shrugged (1957), BioShock criticizes this philosophy and exposes its perversion that is evident in Rapture, an "underwater failed utopia espousing objectivist values", according to the creator Ken Levine himself.

2. Assassin's Creed

Ubisoft's epic historical fantasy has its roots in Alamut, a novel written by Vladimir Bartol in 1938 that tells the story of the Hashshashin, a sect of Shia Islam assassins (albeit depicted much cruder in the novel) from the 11th century.

The series' famous Leap of Faith comes from this novel, as does the motto "nothing is true, everything is permitted."

Video Games Based on Books (2/5)

3. The Witcher

Perhaps the most well-known example on the list, The Witcher is a saga of medieval fantasy novels by Polish author Andrzej Sapkowski. The series features nine novels written between 1992 and 2013, whose popularity got a big boost thanks to the successful CD Projekt Red video game trilogy, and most recently the Netflix series with Henry Cavill.

4. Parasite Eve

The Parasite Eve video game, released in 1998, is actually a sequel to Hideaki Sena's eponymous book. A horror-fantasy in which mitochondria have gained self-awareness and destroy humans with terrible mutations.

Video Games Based on Books (3/5)

5. Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six

Writer Tom Clancy, famous for dozens of spy novels with military themes, lent his signature to various adaptations of his novels in video games, and was later acquired by Ubisoft.

Although Splinter Cell, The Division, or Ghost Recon have little to do with Clancy's novels, Rainbox Six does come from a Clancy novel, which is within the Jack Ryan literary series. Then again, they have little to do with each other's plots, because the game and the book were created in parallel.

6. Metro 2033

Dmitry Glukhovsky's novel Metro 2033, narrates the struggle of factions among the last remnants of mankind, hidden in the Moscow metro after a nuclear war. The game of the same name more or less faithfully adapts the story but comes with spine-tingling horror and claustrophobia from a first-person perspective.

Video Games Based on Books (4/5)

7. STALKER: Shadow of Chernobyl

STALKER is based on the novel by the brothers Arkady and Boris Strugastky named Roadside Picnic (1971) but with a different setting. If in the novel it was an extraterrestrial phenomenon that produced the appearance of various creatures and paranormal activities, in the game they come from secret experiments in Chernobyl.

The novel was also adapted for the cinema by Andrei Tarkovsky in with the cult film Stalker.

8. Spec Ops: The Line

This acclaimed narrative-heavy first-person shooter is inspired by Joseph Conrad's Heart of Darkness (1889). The anti-war element in the story, which was already adapted for the cinema by Francis Coppola in Apocalypse Now!, is transferred to the game's setting of a conflict in the Middle East.

Video Games Based on Books (5/5)

9. Dynasty Warriors

The prolific action-strategy franchise Dynasty Warriors originates from the Romance of the Three Kingdoms, a Chinese epic written in the 14th century by Luo Guanzhong that is loosely based on the historical events of the fall of the Han dynasty and the power struggle between three kingdoms from the 2nd to 3rd century.

The game adapts real battles but with numerous creative licenses, in a frenetic hack'n'slash in which you have to defeat hundreds of enemies.

10. The Binding of Isaac

The Binding of Isaac takes its name from one of the scenes from Genesis in the Old Testament, the Sacrifice of Isaac, in which God asks Abraham to sacrifice his own son, Isaac, to demonstrate his faith.

The same premise is in this game, in which the terrified Isaac runs away from his mother and into random monster-filled dungeons. Its creator, Edmund McMillen, wanted to demonstrate the contradictions he saw during his religious education.

<![CDATA[Top 10 Best Modern-Day Classic RPGs, Ranked]]> https://gurugamer.com/pc-console/top-10-best-modern-day-classic-rpgs-ranked-8717 Thu, 30 Jan 2020 11:04:00 +0000 https://gurugamer.com/pc-console/top-10-best-modern-day-classic-rpgs-ranked-8717
Here are some of the best Classic Role Playing Games that were released in the last ten years.]]>

CRPG is generally considered a long-dead genre by modern-day AAA publishers and developers. Since the 2000s, they have been overcome by 3D titles such as Fallout 3 and Mass Effect that focused on action instead of storytelling. While those titles are amazing, classic CRPG games like Planescape: Torment and Baldur’s Gate offered way more in the storytelling, choices & consequences department.

However, we have seen somewhat of a resurgence of CRPG titles from 2014 onwards, with the excellent Divinity: Original Sin, made after a successful Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign. As a result, many more CRPGs have been pumped out by various developers and met with moderate success. In this article, we would list out some of the best modern CRPG titles.

10 – Pathfinder: Kingmaker

1373445

After a successful Kickstarter campaign by Owlcat Games, Pathfinder: Kingmaker was released for PC in 2018, with a console port release schedule for 2020.

The game is based on the Pathfinder tabletop RPG that was released in 2009, which in turn was inspired by various classic RPG settings like Neverwinter Nights and Baldur’s Gate. Similar to those games, Kingmaker is very faithful to the original contents – giving players an amazing story along with decisions that actually have consequences. Because of that, every playthrough would be different, as players mix upon their choices.

9 – Torment: Tides of Numenera

3840x2160 1173563 Www Artfile Ru

The spiritual successor to the legendary Planescape: Torment, Tides of Numenera was released in 2017 for PS4, Xbox One, and PC. It was amongst the biggest title on Kickstarter, with over 4 million dollars raised.

The game is also based on a tabletop RPG, this time it’s the world of Numenera, partly based on the Planescape universe from Torment. The game has a unique system of combat and dialogue, as every action would cost a certain amount of points, which would be deducted from a pool accumulated by players based on their skill build and choices. Overall, Numenera is amongst the most unique world ever designed in gaming. In this game, players would step into the shoes of the Last Castoff, the latest body of a mind jumping god.

8 – Wasteland 2

Yjnqlk

Also developed by inXile Entertainment, Wasteland 2 is a revival of the original cult classic in 1988. The game was released for PC in 2014, with the console versions revealed a year after.

The first Wasteland was the biggest inspiration for the Fallout franchise, with the main characters’ adventure in the nuclear wasteland. Wasteland 2 has done a good job of continuing that legacy, with all the familiar elements such as turn-based combat, visual style, dark humor, and storytelling. While the game is quite dated, it has enough charm to keep players occupied.

7 – Pillars of Eternity

Pillars Of Eternity

Developed by Obsidian, the mastermind behind Fallout New Vegas, Pillars of Eternity was one of the most hyped games in 2015, released for PC after yet another Kickstarter campaign. The game was later ported to all other consoles including the Nintendo Switch.

Taking cues from classics like Icewind Dale and Baldur’s Gate, Pillars of Eternity has an amazingly deep story and an engaging combat system that can keep even the most hardcore fans occupied. The game world is also incredibly detailed, with most maps and locations specifically designed after the quests they are involved in.

6 - Tyranny

Maxresdefault

Developed for PC in 2016 using the same engine that was used to build Pillars, Tyranny is a twist to the usual storytelling formula. In this game, you would play the role of the dark lord’s servants, cleaning up the land after the force of good has already been defeated. Tyranny is overall a high fantasy title, with extra emphasis on moral choices.

Because of the unique story and characters, players are encouraged to become an evil villain. They would have to pick between bad and very bad choices – which is actually a brand new way of storytelling, as you would often find yourself juggling between options.

5 – Divinity Original Sin

251f49536450440d9cec75d955fa4978

Prequel to the original Divinity Series, Original Sin fused the limitless choices of the Baldur’s Gate series with the amazing combat system inspired by the first Divinity games. The turn-based combat with various creative skills is definitely better than a lot of games on this list. Players would interact with the environment around them, along with various items and skills to force their way through various encounters. Divinity: Original Sin is hard to master, but the payoff is definitely worth every single second.

This game singlehandedly catapulted Larian to the next tier of developers. They have recently been hired to create the sequel of Baldur’s Gate series, Baldur’s Gate 3.

4 – Shadowrun Dragonfall

5542bfa26d5a40cefdf547527c45d1f0

Created by Harebrained Schemes based on the cyberpunk world of Shadowrun, Dragonfall was originally a mod, an extra campaign to the original game. However, after its amazing reception, the developers have decided to pick it up and polish the game to an acceptable level.

The best part of the game is probably the setting. It is Cyberpunk with a magical twist, as the world is filled with fantasy-based races and magic. The story is what sets Dragonfall apart from its prequel and sequel – the quests are complicated and well written, with mystery, conspiracy and hard decisions.

3 – Pillars of Eternity: Deadfire

Wallpapersden Com Deadfire Pillars Of Eternity 256

The sequel to the original Pillars was released in 2018 for PC, with a console release sometime in 2020. Deadfire takes everything that was enjoyable about the first game, refined them, and fixed the overall clunky feeling of the battle system.

Players’ party now traverses the seven seas on ships instead of land, as the scope expands to an unprecedented level. The quality of the story and sound departments remains unchanged – they are all super interesting and engaging. There is an option to switch between real-time pause combat and turn-based now, which is definitely a much-appreciated addition.

2 – Disco Elysium

Disco Elysium Main

One of the best games in 2019 for PC, Disco Elysium is a classic detective RPG, with various focus on character interaction, deduction, and storytelling. Players would step into the shoes of an alcoholic detective whose job is to unravel the mystery behind a murder

The events of the game are set in an alternate 1950s, in a former communist city called Revachol. Everything, from the game’s story to character interactions and progress are all based on the stats you have and their relations to the human psyche. This skill and conversation system is completely different from other games in the same genre – and that’s part of the reason Disco Elysium was that successful.

1 – Divinity: Original Sin 2

Divinity Original Sin 2 Dices

Released back in 2017 for the PC, Divinity: Original Sin 2 is definitely a worthy sequel for the original Divinity. Larian has taken every worthwhile mechanics from the first game and refined them to create one of the most open and polished RPG experiences.

Rivellon in the sequel has changed. It now automatically develops and reacts based on the decisions and actions that the player makes. The story is also further optimized and move away from the comical nature of the first game.

Here are some of the best selling video games of all time and their overall records.]]>

Video games haven’t always been as popular as it was today, as fewer people could afford a gaming system. However, as time passes, the level of income has gradually been increased, along with the streamlined gaming console and PC, which leads to more people investing their time and money on video games. Amongst those games which were released in the last ten years, here are the top 10 best sellers.

10 – Call of Duty: Black Ops (26.2 million)

Default

Call of Duty: Black Ops was one of the most successful CoD releases in history, as it was released for all platforms, including the Nintendo DS. The number of contents that was included in that release was super high, as it is essentially 2 games for 1 purchase. The gameplay is just the usual shooter, with various game modes and a progression system.

Treyarch has been trying to replicate the success of the title, as Activision has been pushing out more and more Call of Duty every year.

9 – Red Dead Redemption 2 (26.5 million)

Red Dead Redemption 2 Pc
Red Dead Redemption 2 PC

Sequel to the critically acclaimed Red Dead Redemption, Red Dead 2 was first released on the Xbox One and PS4 in 2018, with a PC and Stadia release a year after that. It is an open-world RPG with action-adventure elements in a western theme. The game was in development for eight years and is one of the most expensive video game ever developed.

The sheer quality of the game, with its vibrant world and well-written storylines, has earned it quite a few awards in 2018, including several “Game of the Year”. While it was released only 2 years ago, the game still manages to break into the top 10 best sellers.

8 – Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 (26.5 million)

Call Of Duty Modern Warfare 3 Wallpaper

The other branch of Call of Duty was just as successful as Black Ops. Available on Xbox 360, PS3, Wii and PC, Modern Warfare 3 was the biggest title released in 2011. Being a direct sequel to the successful Modern Warfare 2 of 2009, Modern Warfare 3 has a massive number of preorders – with 6.5 million copies shipped on Day 1.

The game was the final installment of the original Call of Duty timeline, with all the previous protagonists’ going for a final confrontation with Makarov for the last time.

7 – Terraria (27 million)

Wp2233411

Released back in 2011 for PC, Terraria is often dubbed “Minecraft 2D” due to its similar sandbox adventure nature. Rode on the unexpected success, Re-Logic has been porting the game to every platform imaginable, from even the handheld 3DS to the PS4. The core gameplay is similar to other sandboxes, with action-adventure, killing monsters and building bases.

While the game is available on every platform, the PC version is still the best, as it can support mods. You would think the 2D aesthetics would limit creative freedom – however, that is not the case in Terraria.

6 – Mario Kart 8 (27.5 million)

353610

Released in 2014 as a Wii U exclusive, Mario Kart 8 pretty much carry the Wii U on its shoulder alone. It was the best selling game on that system, with over 8 million copies shipped. The core gameplay of Mario Kart is rather simple – race as characters from the Mario series on fantastical race tracks while gathering various boosts on the road.

The game was ported to the Switch immediately when it was released in 2017, with similar success. In fact, it has even become the best selling game on the system, with almost 20 million more copies sold. As this is a platform exclusive title, Mario Kart 8’s achievement is actually way more formidable than it seems.

5 – Diablo 3 (30 million)

1503639021454

The long-awaited sequel of Diablo 2 was released for PC in 2012, with various ports made later for both PS3/4 and Xboxes, along with a Switch release in 2018. While the game was not nearly as good as its prequels, Blizzard has done an excellent job in marketing and porting it, squeezing out every single penny as they could from the release.

Every port mentioned above, along with various Special Editions and DLCs have brought Diablo 3 to the top 10 best sellers of this generation, with 30 million copies shipped. It is likely that Blizzard would be able to continue this trend, as Diablo 4 is on the horizon.

4 – The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim (30 million)

174653 Skyrim Animated Wallpaper

Another multiplatform title, similar to Diablo 3 – Skyrim was originally released on PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 in 2011. Afterward, it was quickly ported to the PS4 and Xbox One in 2016, accompanied by a VR and Switch release in 2017. The “Bethesda released yet another version of Skyrim” has become an internet meme because of this.

TES V: Skyrim is definitely one of the most successful RPGs of all time, as Bethesda has perfected their formula after the previous entry, Oblivion. The easily moddable nature of the game is a huge plus, as it would extend the amount of content it has to almost infinity.

3 – Playerunknown’s Battlegrounds (50 million)

215866

PUBG is the first game that manages to create a true battle royale experience – and that is the reason behind its explosive success on release. The game was available for Xbox One and PC in 2017, with two ports for the PS4 and mobile a year afterward.

While its growth has slowed down greatly, at the time of its release, the game dwarfed every other game on Steam on both player count and concurrent players. In PUBG, 100 players would be dropped into a massive map to fight against each other until only one survive.

2 – Grand Theft Auto 5 (115 million)

1215805

The source of Rockstar’s infinite stream of money, GTA 5 was released back in 2013 and has been considered the benchmark for any open-world ever released since then. While the game was only available on the PS3 and Xbox 360 at release, Rockstar did quickly ported it to other systems such as Xbox One, PS4, and PC.

While the single-player campaign of Grand Theft Auto 5 is amazing, it is the online mode that keeps the game alive all those years. In addition to those hundreds of millions in sales, GTA Online’s microtransaction has given the company about 6 billion dollars.

1 – Minecraft (180 million)

Dc809056fc1adc84090c450f8d19bdfd

First released for PC in 2011, no one would have thought Minecraft would be able to become such a worldwide phenomenon. The open-world Sandbox action-adventure has gradually been ported to every major system and even mobile devices in the course of this decade. Along with its infinitely creative gameplay, Minecraft has become the best selling video game of all time.

YouTube played a big role in Minecraft’s success, with a lot of the site’s most popular videos made from the contents of the game.

Here are some of the most underrated and overlooked RPGs ever released.]]>

RPG is one of the top genres in video gaming. During the course of history, there have been a lot of great games, however, usually, only the very best of them get remembered. The other titles, while being really close to greatness, often fall into obscurity. In this article, we will list out some of the top tier RPGs of yesteryear, which are really underrated.

10 – Jade Empire (PC)

Thumb 1920 489808

BioWare was amongst the best video games developer back then, when they weren’t just a division of EA. Amongst their top titles, Jade Empire was one of the best. Originally released for the Xbox then ported to PC, the title took various inspirations from Chinese history and mythos to create an amazing real-time RPG. A moral system similar to other Bioware games like Knights of the Old Republic or Mass Effect would run parallel with the decisions that you made inside the game. From story choices to even skill build, a lot of things would factor into the system, which would lead you to various different endings. While Jade Empire only sold a modest number (only a few hundred thousand copies) it still has a devoted fanbase.

9 – Skies of Arcadia (Dreamcast)

Fagmal

Sega used to be one of the gaming giants of the past, with their best hit being the Sega Dreamcast. Their in-house development team, AM1 (later renamed to Overworks), was famous for a variety of different games. Their best hit on the system, however, is the RPG title called Skies of Arcadia. The events of the game are set in a fantastical world, with sky pirates and floating landmasses. Its strongest point is the well-written character cast and amazing storytelling that would definitely be able to hook you (after the rather slow start). This game is pretty much a staple for players of the Dreamcast era.

Based on the rumors floating around, it looks like the company has been working on either a remake or a sequel to this title.

8 – Mount and Blade: Warband (PC)

17651 Mount Blade 1920x1080 Anime Wallpaper

Mount and Blade: Warband is a prime example of how much expansion could improve the base game in general. Being a standalone expansion, the game was able to split and absorb the community of the original game to create a much strongest fanbase, who are most of the time being borderline fanatical. The amount of freedom that one could have playing this game is staggering. You can pretty much do everything, from mercenary works, creating factions to wage war, create your own kingdom… Mod supports also further increase the replayability of the game, as you can play in various different settings such as Lord of the Rings or Warhammer. While its visual assets are outdated, the game’s amazing combat and sheer depth are still able to carry it in today’s market.

A sequel named Bannerlord is going to be released this year.

7 – Grim Dawn (PC)

Dbqimhi 7222151d 4f9a 4b23 93df 720b1f1f3f80

Whenever people mentioned ARPGs, it is usually Diablo, Path of Exile and Warframe that would get the spotlight. However, Grim Dawn from Crate Entertainment is definitely in the same tier. The game was a great homage to Diablo 2, with the same style of world design and dark atmosphere, along with the signature hack and slash skill-based combat. The customization aspect of this game is pretty decent, with seven unique classes that can be used to create various combinations. Replayability is great as well, as the dungeon is randomly generated – that, along with the wave-based crucible, would have you sink dozens or hundreds of hours.

6 – The Age of Decadence (PC)

F1b5140d 62bf 4903 A85d Bfd383032efd

While story-driven gameplay and choice/consequences are very valued in RPGs today, it is pretty weird that The Age of Decadence from Iron Tower Studio is more often than not overlooked. The events of the game are set in a post-apocalyptic world with an unusual Roman Empire twist. There are numerous choices made available to the player in order for them to customize every playthrough, as you can pick between combat, pacifism and more. It is heavily recommended to build a specialist character in this game, however, as the Jack of all Trades approach would lead you nowhere. This title is definitely worth checking out if you are looking for something with depth and replayability.

5 – Torment: Tides of Numenera (PC)

Torment Tides Of Numenera Rpg

Created by inXile Entertainment, the brain behind the rebirth of Wasteland series, Torment: Tides of Numenera is an attempt to continue the legacy of the cult classic Planescape: Torment. While the combat aspect of the game wasn’t done that well, it can’t be denied that this game is a story/consequence driven game with some great characters. The settings were its strongest point, as various elements from both sci-fi and high fantasy was brought into this and combined. Your character customization would play a big part in beating the story because how the story unfolds is heavily dependent on what you do and what abilities you have. If you are into stuff like Planescape and reading, Tides of Numenera would definitely a great pickup.

4 – Legend of Grimrock 2 (PC)

Legend Of Grimrock 2 Game

A classic dungeon crawler in the style of older games in the 90s that was remade with current graphics standards, Legend of Grimrock 2 is definitely a curious game. Made by indie developer Almost Human, in Grimrock 2, you would be exploring a mysterious island in the first person. The difficulty is pretty unforgiving, as you would usually have to go with the “try over and over” approach. While the visual is not actually something worthwhile, Grimrock 2’s excellent puzzles, gameplay, and challenging combat make it worth a try.

3 – Phantom Brave (PC)

1920x1080

Nippon Ichi Software has been one of the big names in the JRPG scenes, however, none of their game except a select few was able to break into the top, as there are just too many competitions. Phantom Brave is amongst that number. The story of the game revolves around a girl called Marona, whose ability lets her communicate to various spirits known as Phantoms. Her main ability is to imbue an object with a phantom, which would provide various skills and bonuses that would greatly affect gameplay. Combine that with various RPGs staple like movement modifiers, fusion spells, and item construction, Phantom Brave is definitely one of the best obscure turn-based JRPG.

2 – Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines (PC)

Thumb 1920 403253

The last title made by the original Fallout squad while they were Troika Games, Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines was an adaptation of the famous tabletop settings World of Darkness. While the game didn’t sell very well and has numerous technical issues such as bugs and glitches, the sheer quality of its contents earned quite a few positive reviews. You would play as a newly created vampire in the city of Los Angeles and explore everything the underworld has to offer. The depth of the game is concentrated on whatever class you picked, as they all have distinct differences that would change your playthrough completely.

A sequel is going to be released in 2020. If you want to play the original, it is best to get the unofficial patch for the game first.

1 – Tyranny (PC, Xbox)

4096x2304 Burning Library

The selling point of this game is its unique premise. The events of the game happened after the end, in which the evil side has won and destroyed everything to create a new world order. You would step into the shoes of a Fatebinder, a servant of the Dark Lord, with the duty to clean up everything left in the aftermath. Tyranny asks you a lot of hard questions – as you have to choose between all those evil choices. Decisions would affect the storyline, along with whatever skills you often use. Tyranny is definitely a unique experience that fans of the genre should not miss.

10 - Granblue Fantasy: Relink (PS4)

Granblue Fantasy Relink

Based on popular mobile game Granblue Fantasy from Cygames, Granblue Fantasy: Relink would be a spinoff action RPG for the PS4. The game would include various characters from the main cast of the series going on a completely new adventure in a different location from the mobile game altogether. The soundtrack of the game would be handled by Nobuo Uematsu, composer of Final Fantasy series, with Platinum Games of Devil May Cry fame working on the combat mechanics. Hajimari No Kiseki Artwork

Falcom has been trying to localize and port all Trails games to PC, with Trails of Cold Steel 4 still on the work. However, they have wasted no time moving on to the next game. Trails of the Beginning is going to be the most ambitious entry of the series, as it is aimed to be a turning point for the grand conclusion of the series. There would be a lot of old and new characters getting featured in Beginning, from all related games like Trails in the Sky, Trails of Cold Steel and more. Gameplay-wise, the Trails series is more or less the usual JRPG, with everything a JRPG should have, and more. The Japanese version of this game should be available in Sept 2020.

8 - Ys IX: Monstrum Nox (PS4)

Ys Ix Main Visual Feature Dualshockers

Another title from Falcom, the next installment of the famous Ys series, Monstrum Nox, is planned for a Sept 2020 release in the west. Based on the developer’s localization trend and the quality of the previous works, it just makes sense that they took some time to polish the thing before shipping. YS IX’s gameplay is pretty much the same system in the previous games but modified. It is a third-person hack & slash with a lot of RPG elements and customization. Players will step into the shoes of protagonist Adol Christin on a journey to the prison city to investigate a mysterious disappearance.

7 - Tales of Arise (Xbox One, PS4, PC)

Tales Of Arise 4102

The most ambitious Tales game to date, Tales of Arise would focus on two worlds called Rena and Dahna and the conflicts between their inhabitants called Shionne and Alphen. There isn’t much information available about the game yet, but from what’s already revealed, we have nothing to worry about. Tales of Arise would keep the successful Linear Motion Battle System from the previous title and port the entire thing to Unreal Engine 4. The game is going to look fantastic.

6 - Cyberpunk 2077 (PC, PS4, Xbox One)

As Protagonist V, players would carve for themselves a path to the top of the city, with their choices affect the fate of the world around them. There are a lot of things to look forward to, as you would be able to further customize classes for your soldier and modify them with points. A marriage system is also introduced, as you would be able to raise your son to take your place if you die. Gameplay-wise, Siege warfare and dialogue options are improved, as you can get more out of building siege engines. The game would have the same vibe as the original Mount & Blade, but with added complexity.

Goku and friends return in yet another video game remake of Dragon Ball Z. The game would be covering everything in the original manga of Dragon Balls, from the Raditz Saga to the Buu Saga. Along with the introduction of the action RPG elements, you would be taking on missions, battling, training and powering up… all to beat the story missions. Unique powers like Super Saiyan or Fusion would be unlocked during missions. Experience the whole Dragon Balls Z again with Kakarot – the game will be released on Jan 17.

3 - Final Fantasy 7 Remake (PS4)

Finalfantasyviiremake

The remake for the most famous Final Fantasy Game is finally getting a release date. Final Fantasy 7 remake is the first part of the original Final Fantasy game, with gameplay changes and reimagined storyline. The combat would be a version of FF 15’s battle system – there would be some turn-based options but they would not affect the gameplay much. The mini-games and events would make a comeback as well, as you would have to beat them to get special items and bonuses. Final Fantasy 7 Remake would be released on March 3, exclusively on the PS4.

2 - Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition (Switch)

Lq1trvl

Xenoblade Chronicles, which was originally launched in 2012 for Wii, is going to be ported to Nintendo Switch as Definitive Edition. The game would feature completely remade visuals, from player models to textures to environment assets. Previously removed contents from the original game are also getting added back in the definitive edition. Based on the initial reveal trailer, the adventure of Shulk and Fiora would continue some time in 2020.

1 - Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 (PS4, Xbox One, PC)

Vampire The Masquerade Bloodlines 2 Sa

An unlikely sequel to the original masterpiece Vampire Masquerade, Bloodlines 2 would take players back to the World of Darkness, but this time, the events of the game would occur in Seattle. You would start your adventure as a clanless Thinblood, and rise through the ranks during the course of the Vampire War to the top of the food chain. Your decisions and actions would affect the fate of the city and the world itself. Gameplay-wise, it’s an excellent RPG, with amazing customization on both characters and story choices. Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 would be released next year for PS4, PC and Xbox One.

If you're interested in PC games with stunning visuals, here are the best ones in 2019 that you can look for!]]>

Even though we have landed our first steps in 2020, the PC games scene seems quite stilly. So, while waiting for the famous blockbusters like Moon of Madness or Monster Hunter World: Iceborne to come to PC later this month, let's have a look back on the great 2019's strikes.

We've given you a lot of articles on the best 2019 games, such as the top 5 hidden gems, top 5 PC games with the best plots and the best indie PC games of the decades. And today, we will lead you through the top 8 best PC games with the most beautiful graphics.

Those games are the most outstanding titles that feature stunning visuals on PC, some of which have even pushed beyond the graphical limits of what can a PC game feels like in the decade. To make those PC games beautiful, we must say thanks to the technical empowerment as well as the developers' efforts in the smallest details.

Without further ado, let's get into the first one:

8. A Plague Tale: Innocence

Supported platforms: PC, PS4, Xbox One

I can't count how many times I've written about this game in the year-end complications recently. However, considering how hauntingly beautiful both the visuals and the story of A Plague Tale: Innocence is, it's worth another try. It dates back to the landscape of France in the Middle Ages, where the two siblings have to run away and survive in an unforgiving world.

You can see the trailer below for a more detailed look:

Visual-wise, A Plague Tale: Innocence is definitely one of the most gorgeous PC games in the industry. Thanks to the power of the photogrammetry technology (basically capturing the real world in pictures and render it to pack in the game), the developer Asobo Studio has created a life-like survival experience in the darkest historical era of the world.

8 Most Beautiful Pc Games 2019 1
Portraying the survival journey of the siblings in the most realistic way possible

Additionally, the game has done a great job in the lighting system and making detailed characters, so that you can immerse in the severe conditions that Amicia and her infected brother Hugo has to experience. It still has some flaws like the lip-syncing or some stuttering animations, but overall, A Plague Tale: Innocence is still impressively aesthetic.

8 Most Beautiful Pc Games 2019 2
It lip-syncing still looks quite unnatural, but it doesn't matter too much

7. Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Breakpoint

Supported platforms: PC, PS4, Xbox One, Stadia

Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Breakpoint (often called Ghost Recon Breakpoint for short) is the eleventh installment in the Ghost Recon franchise. The game was launched only two months ago for PC, but it doesn't take long to become one of the most beautiful online action-shooter in the industry with its environmental effects.

You can watch its trailer below to see how visually impressive this game is:

Considering its gameplay, Ghost Recon Breakpoint is truly a disappointment. Priming itself as a tactical shooter, Ubisoft's game is more like a pay-to-win title rather than planning or team working one. Setting that aside, Ubisoft has done a great job optimizing the game, making it run smoother than the previous title - Wildlands.

8 Most Beautiful Pc Games 2019 3
If it hadn't been for the microtransactions...

Apart from the optimization, Ghost Recon Breakpoint looks great as well. The developer also used the photogrammetry technology to texturize the game, and also bring weather conditions into account. With a decent PC, players can enjoy the beautiful grass waving in the wind while hiding in places waiting for the order to strike. The only thing that this game hasn't done well is the character models not on par with what other rivals like Call of Duty or Battlefield offer.

8 Most Beautiful Pc Games 2019 4
Ubisoft can do a better job with their character design

6. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare

Supported platforms: PC, PS4, Xbox One

Following very tightly to Ghost Recon Breakpoint, we've Activision's most ambitious title Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. We can't deny that CoD: Modern Warfare looks great and plays even better, as it has won the Best Online Multiplayer Game of 2019, but it only stands in the third place due to the annoying pop-in issues (basically, your control point keep shrinking with black border).

Nevertheless, you can still see how detailed the missions in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare are:

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare features Ray Tracing supports, which you can turn on to feel how the lighting quality drastically changes. However, as the nature of a first-person shooter, people tend to favor frames rather than quality, so not many decided to use the features. But even without that, the game still looks incredible with its details in every particle effects.

8 Most Beautiful Pc Games 2019 5
The game looks stunning even without Ray-Tracing on

To be more specific, the environment looks very realistic, but at the same time, it doesn't obstruct players' abilities to observe battlefields at all. Characters' model has always been CoD advantages and this installment is not an exception. If Activision finds a way to solve its pop-in problems, the game would easily steal a higher place.

8 Most Beautiful Pc Games 2019 6
The pop-in issue that pops up randomly is quite annoying

5. Resident Evil 2 Remake

Supported platforms: PC, PS4, Xbox One

While the two previous shooters focus on the first-person realistic experience, Resident Evil 2 Remake focuses more on horror elements with creepy zombies that you'll blow their flesh off. Release in January 2019, Capcom's most famous game keeps getting mentioned over and over for its gameplay and story, but little appreciate how horrifying yet beautiful it is.

You can watch the trailer of Resident Evil 2 Remake here:

We all know that remake games often look way better than its original version, but Resident Evil 2 Remake has done much more than that. It has brought the amazing third-person shooting experience in the original game to modern's visual standards, and even push it further by featuring detailed body dismemberment.

8 Most Beautiful Pc Games 2019 7
The body dismemberment features in RE2 Remake makes the game more bloody

Featuring one of the best characters model design in the industry, every movement you make and every shot your fire looks absolutely life-like. All of them are embellished by the perfect lighting for a horror game as well as the environment interactivity. It still has some noise problems, especially when you're soaked in the rain, but it's nothing too big to mention here.

8 Most Beautiful Pc Games 2019 8
Some noise might appear at encountering specific weather conditions

4. Red Dead Redemption 2

Supported platforms: PC, PS4, Xbox One, Stadia

Originally released for PlayStation 4 in 2018, Red Dead Redemption 2 has already received a lot of praise from both players and critics for its visuals and also its Wild West concept. So, the moment Rockstar announced that they will port the game to PC, fans have gone hype, but then completely disappointed at how many bugs its PC version has.

Set that aside, if you haven't heard of this blockbuster from GTA's developer, watch this trailer for details:

At least Rockstar is very active in providing patches to make its PC version stable. And if its initial launch version is not a total failure, the game may have a higher spot on this list. Red Dead Redemption 2 stands out for its character models and phenomenal environmental effects, as the developer has successfully portrayed the untouched beauty of nature. You can even see the snowflakes falling from the sky, as well as shining and melting when the sun rises.

8 Most Beautiful Pc Games 2019 9
The Wild West landscape is much more beautiful than it should be

If you're into an open-world adventure game, Red Dead Redemption 2 is a must-try. But I highly recommend waiting for more bug fixes to come first.

8 Most Beautiful Pc Games 2019 10
Bug-fixing patches and mods are coming in the future

3. Detroit: Become Human

Supported platform: PC, PS4

Detroit: Become Human is the last game from Quantic Dream's PS4-exclusive trilogy including Heavy Rain and Beyond: Two Souls. And as the latest title in the pack, Detroit: Become Human has done what it should be: imagining a futuristic world with Androids in the most detailed way.

You can see it trailer down here to see the journey of the robots that lives even more humane than human:

Even though the game was not optimized well to run on mid-end or low-end PC, it still looks phenomenal if your machine can carry its detailed levels. It's an open-world narrative game with choice-driven mechanics, in which you can enjoy wandering in a futuristic world with a lot of modern technology.

8 Most Beautiful Pc Games 2019 11
When time freezes with the real-time events, you will see how detailed the slow-motion in this game is

However, the most outstanding graphical features of Detroit: Become Human is its lip-syncing that makes you feel like the characters are speaking themselves rather than just mumbling. And together with the well-done quick-time events that freeze time and make everything in slo-mo, it's definitely one of the best looking PC games of 2019.

8 Most Beautiful Pc Games 2019 12
By far the best game of Quantic Dream

2. Control

Supported platforms: PC, PS4, Xbox One

The latest game from Remedy Entertainment - Control - would easily secure a spot in every top list regarding visual quality. The game is stunningly beautiful with its real-time ray tracing effects - actually, one of the best PC games in the industry to make use of this new innovative lighting tech.

See the trailer of the game for the details:

You can feel the satisfaction with every time you change the form of your gun, every gunfight with explosions and bullets interaction, as well as every step you make exploring the secret facility. RTX was used in almost everything this game features: shadow, illustrations, reflections effects.

8 Most Beautiful Pc Games 2019 13
A beautiful game with Telekinesis power

Even better, as almost all of this prettiness was successfully brought for consoles as well, making Control one of the best-optimized game of 2019.

8 Most Beautiful Pc Games 2019 14
The game looks on par on consoles comparing with its PC version

1. Quake II RTX

Quake II is a very old game (22 years old), but none of us have expected that its remake can be this ground-breaking. Starting from the work of a fan namely Christoph Shied, Nvidia has picked Quake II RTX up, and doing the best they can to stuff its most advanced ray-tracing effects in.

Quake II RTX is very straight-up, and you'll recognize how brilliant the game is within the first time you dive in this first-person shooter. But if you haven't got the chance yet, feel free to watch the trailer below first:

The only thing similar to Quake II and Quake II RTX is that they are the PC games that only beast machines at their date can handle. At its first demo, the game looks gorgeous with the 'path-tracing' improvements (basically bringing almost everything ray-tracing can do to work independently in a game).

8 Most Beautiful Pc Games 2019 15
Quake II RTX is the project from Nvidia itself

However, it resulted in the incapability of making the game running at 60fps - which is not optimal for a first-person shooter. Later on, a patch was delivered by Nvidia, not only optimizing the game significantly but also bring more RTX effects without hurting the game's performance. And now, it's just a perfect combination of the legendary FPS experience and the visuals that surpass our imagination.

8 Most Beautiful Pc Games 2019 16
90% of gamers won't be able to play this game to its maximum potentials

Do you think we've missed any gorgeous PC games on our list? Don't hesitate to let us know in the comment section below!

<![CDATA[Top 10 Best Cyberpunk Games On PC]]> https://gurugamer.com/pc-console/top-10-best-cyberpunk-games-on-pc-8424 Thu, 02 Jan 2020 09:33:00 +0000 https://gurugamer.com/pc-console/top-10-best-cyberpunk-games-on-pc-8424
Enter the future with these classic trips to the dark side of science-fiction.]]>

Cyberpunk is an old genre, dated back to the 1980s. It is a subgenre of science fiction that takes place in a dystopian future setting in which people struggle in a high-tech world that doesn’t really care. Prominent elements in the settings are various technical and scientific advancements like AI and cybernetics (that’s the “cyber” part).

10 – Anachronox

Reading the lore would be an essential part of the experience

Another Cyberpunk game from Ion Storm, Anachronox is pretty unique, featuring elements that are vastly different from the usual trope (indie-rock). You would spend the whole game traveling around with Anachronox, a shrunken planet, as your companion. About the gameplay, it is more or less a JRPG with turn-based action in a 3D map. You will be exploring space vessels, futuristic cities, and alien landscapes playing this game. While it’s rather dated, the experience is pretty much unforgettable.

9 – Beneath A Steel Sky

Steve Ince Steel Sky 1
The world design of Beneath a Steel Sky is just unreal, with skyscrapers upon skyscrapers

The Point & Click adventure Beneath A Steel Sky offered a different take to the cyberpunk setting – the protagonist gets dropped into a city that’s controlled by a sadistic omnipresent AI computer system named LINC. To save the city and your own life, you have to dig into the cyberspace for clues while avoiding all the potential dangers. Your trusty robot companion, Joey, would be with you all the way. The best part is that the game is completely free.

8 – Technobabylon

Fabae007a35d4e5975ce41d2fd644490
Despite its pixel graphics, Technobabylon tells an amazing story

A fantastic point & click game, Technobabylon actually stands out by going against the usual cyberpunk trope. The genre is cold, more often than not, with a lot of focus on the pessimism feeling of humans living in a dystopia, along with the inhumanity of technology. The main story of the game focuses on entirely human elements like family, isolation, loss, and community. The staple genre elements remain, however, with human bombs terrorists, restaurants with cloned human flesh, and the like.

7 – Va-11 Hall-A

Ex Trident Va 11 Hall A
Mixing drinks and changing lives in the cyberpunk bar of Vallhalla

While most other games are about fighting the system, the scope of Vallhalla is way smaller. It is a mix of a bartending sim and visual novel sim, with you trying to mix a good drink for your customers while listening to their life story. Only by doing it correctly would you make them talk and reveal more details about the cruel world outside. Combined that with the excellent music, Vallhalla is a great game to play while chilling.

6 – EYE: Divine Cybermancy

Weffodo
A pure team-based FPS with RPG elements. Before Borderlands, there was this title.

EYE is an RPG/FPS in which your objective is just to grind through waves upon waves of enemies, with your guns and special power. The story begins with you awoke from a coma, with all your squadmates dead around you. Your quest afterward is to go on a rampage of revenge and stop the big bad from destroying the world. This game is best for people whole love the combat of Deus Ex.

5 – System Shock 2

C5271c60bcd24eb45808880a223d80b9
One of the best single-player adventure RPG out there - it is rather dated, however.

This series is a deviation from the usual cyberpunk tropes, as it happens in a futuristic space station. However, the thing remains to be one of the most successful attempts ever made in the genre. The first game’s villain, Evil AI Shodan is back, with a lot more tricks under its sleeve. While the game ditched the cyberspace parts from the previous series, it made up for the loss by new elements of “transhumanism”, in which you would modify your own body by various enhances.

4 – Watch Dog 2

43 436100 Wallpaper Watch Dogs 2 Men Marcus Hollow
The protagonist and the team's main vehicle in a heist

While Watch Dog 2 has way fewer Cyberpunk elements than its predecessor, it is a far better game. It has taken every good thing from the first game and fine-tuned them, such as the city hacking and weapon hacking. Overall, the sequel does not have much of a story, but it is still serviceable. The new protagonist, Marcus Holloway, is way more compelling than the previous one, as he is actually a part of something important.

3 – Blade Runner

20191216 Nl Main Art
A spitting image of the usual trenchcoat detective trope

Westwood’s adaptation of Blade Runner has definitely been pretty successful in replicating the feel of the movie, with all the locations recreated with a fully detailed background. The game is a brand new story in the same universe, which occurs at the same time as the movie. In this game, you would get to immerse yourself in the settings and do a lot of exciting things such as the Voight-Kampff test or fight replicants.

2 – Shadowrun: Dragonfall

Ss Bab14a65487d85f2d9a44bf8cbe545c5fcbc4590 1920x1
The turn-based gameplay in Dragonfall is really engaging, with a lot of tactical options for you to pick

The best Shadowrun game to date, with excellent story and gameplay. Shadowrun is a little bit different from the usual cyberpunk settings, with various new additions like magic and fantastical creatures. The twists work, as the setting is fresh to everyone, even the die-hard fans of the genre. This is a turn-based heavy RPG game, with your stats and character build affecting every decision you make inside the game. The best part of the game, however, is the story – a masterful adventure with all the twists and turns.

1 – Deus Ex Human Revolution

Deus Ex Hr Image Hbp1e
In Deus Ex HR, you can either approach stealthily or go in gun blazing

While the first game is great, it is too outdated, and some of its ideas are not suitable for today’s standards. Human Revolution was built around conspiracy theories, transhumanism, and its repercussions. You would step into the shoes of Adam Jensen, a super cop whose job is to unravel a conspiracy related to his employer and the future of the world. The gameplay was designed masterfully, with both stealth and combat weaved together by a unique RPG system.
