It also features on-screen mini-games, a realistic Career mode, Create-A-Fighter mode, and the standard single and multiplayer options. Despite being released over a decade ago, UFC Undisputed 3 remains prevalent in the gaming industry to this very day and is often considered to be the best MMA game to have ever been made.

EA Sports UFC 3

The third iteration of the EA Sports UFC franchise, UFC 3, was thrown into the world of gaming in 2018 as an MMA game for Xbox. This game served as an improvement to its predecessors with its realistic graphics and gameplay. It also boasts impressive visuals and facial animations with great attention to detail, personalised game modes, and customizable character developments. The game also introduced advancements to the Career Mode, which will be affected by your actions inside and outside of the octagon.

UFC Undisputed 2010

A prequel to UFC Undisputed 3, UFC Undisputed 2010 is the second MMA instalment in the UFC Undisputed series. This game was viewed as the best MMA Xbox game when it was released in 2010 and still remains at the top of the ranks. When compared to its predecessors, the game made some major improvements to the career mode and the Ultimate Fight Mode. EA Sports MMA was a rival to THQ’s UFC Undisputed series that was released the same year. It is a relatively standard MMA game with a strategic pass system, smooth animations and insane graphics to go with it. The game also had a great career mode and exhibition fights for solo play. It has a solid roster that features many real-life UFC fighters and more fighting styles. Despite being outshined by EA Sports’ latest MMA releases, their original instalment still manages to encapsulate the complete UFC experience.

<![CDATA[Does Xbox's Tech Really Put It Ahead Of The Competition?]]> https://gurugamer.com/reviews/does-xboxs-tech-really-put-it-ahead-of-the-competition-19164 Mon, 15 Nov 2021 02:47:00 +0000 https://gurugamer.com/reviews/does-xboxs-tech-really-put-it-ahead-of-the-competition-19164
Let’s take a look at why you might want to consider getting the Series X over a PlayStation 5.]]>

Xbox Tech

Since gaming has become a viable career choice, the specifications of the tech have gotten increasingly important. Now, if you want to make a gaming website using a web builder, you need to know how impressive your console is. The video maker tool on web builders like Wix is great, but it isn’t very useful if your console is recording videos that lag or fail to convert properly.

For a while, the Xbox lagged behind PlayStation with few experts willing to throw their weight behind it. However, the latest releases – the Xbox Series X and S – have some major fans.

Does the Xbox’s tech really put it ahead of the competition though? Let’s take a look at why you might want to consider getting the Series X over a PlayStation 5.

CPU and GPU

When it comes to the CPU, there is not too much to separate between the Xbox Series X and the PlayStation 5. Technically, the Xbox’s specs are slightly better. The question is whether it makes any real difference.

For most people who have tried both, both perform excellently. They are fast and the graphics are better than ever. Some report a slightly faster load time with the PS5 but few would wager that it matters.

So, while the Xbox tech cannot be said to be behind PlayStation, this does not put it ahead of the competition. If you're trying to decide which console to use for your Twitch channel or website, both will be fast and effective.

Games

A few years back, you would have pitted the available games against each other. However, in a world with cross-compatibility and backwards compatibility, even the Nintendo Switch can handle most games. In other words, you're not going to have any trouble playing the games you want to play no matter what console you get.

That said, Xbox does seem to perform better on some games, and this may be where its impressive CPU and GPU specs make the difference. It could also be a quirk of those particular games, but there don’t seem to be many reports of games working better on PlayStation 5.

Design

The design of the console itself has never really mattered to me, and many gamers will feel the same. However, to those who do care about design, the Xbox Series X is considered way more sleek and attractive than the PS 5 which is, admittedly, rather bulky.

In terms of controllers, the design of the Xbox controller makes it easier to use and more comfortable in your hands than the design of the PS 5 controller. Again, it is one of those issues where you have to ask how much of a real-world difference it makes. It is also something that may come down to personal preference. While most people prefer the Xbox controller, there will be plenty who would choose the PS 5 controller instead.

The Business Side

If you do intend on making a career out of gaming, the Xbox Series X is as good as it gets. I won’t say that it is necessarily ahead of its competitors, but it is at least as good as any other.

When building a career as a pro gamer, you need to do more than create Twitch and YouTube accounts. You should actually set up your own website to showcase yourself on your own terms. It is on your website that you can best introduce yourself, sharing your backstory as well as what makes you interesting. You can share your best videos, your achievements, and even sell merch when you become successful.

Website design is easier than ever in 2021. You can use a website builder to create a website in less than an hour. No gamer will be looking for the most complex website when checking yours out, but it is important that it looks professional and attractive.

The tools available on website builders also make them ideal for gamers. You can use video maker tools and editors to present your best media.

Creating a website is a crucial aspect when it comes to building your online presence. Social media networks come and go, with their popularity sometimes growing and sometimes dropping off. A website, however, will always be useful. It should tie in with your other accounts, but provide a jumping off point of its own.

As a pro gamer, the Xbox Series X will do everything you need it to do. Its technology is excellent, and while it may not be streets ahead of the competition, it is better than most.

As of 2021, there are two next-gen console models. The Series S and the Series X. Should You Buy The S or the X?]]>

The next generation of video game consoles is upon us and with it, a bit of a complicated naming structure for the latest Xbox consoles. Not only are there two brand new consoles being launched at the exact same time, but they are named very similar to past consoles that makes it very confusing. If you want to make the jump to next-gen, here is what you need to know about picking the right one.

Xbox
Picking the Right Xbox For Next Generation Gaming

As of 2021, there are two next-gen console models. The Series S and the Series X. Before we even discuss the difference between the two of these systems, a very easy mistake to make needs to be addressed. These sound a lot like the consoles from last gen.

Be Careful Not To Mix the Series S/X with the One S/X

The Xbox 360 is the last unique named system Microsoft released, so let's start here. The Xbox 360 was the first HD Xbox console. After this came the Xbox One. This was a little strange progression of numbers but at least the names were quite different.

As time went on, Microsoft released an Xbox One S and an Xbox One X. The S was the cheaper, less powerful system and the X had more powerful hardware that was capable of rendering some games in 4k resolution. At this point, you should be able to see how this is going to get a bit confusing!

The latest consoles are the Xbox Series S and the Xbox Series X. Just like the last-gen consoles, the S is a cheaper model and the X is the premium system that can run games in native 4k at 120 frames per second.

Microsoft Xbox Series X and S
Microsoft Xbox Series X and S

Should You Buy The S or the X?

The S and the X will all play the exact same games. Games will not be a determining factor when making the decision. How well they perform will, however.

The Xbox Series S/X are both backwards compatible. You will be able to play all games released for the Xbox One on these next-gen systems, often with improved performance. If this is the first Xbox you have had since the 360, you will also be able to play a large selection of games from this system. Just be aware that your Gamertag has more than likely been recycled by now. This Xbox Gamertag generator will help you find something new if you find yourself in this situation.

If you are trying to decide, here are some important facts about both systems that will help influence your decision.

Do you own a 4k tv or plan on buying one?

If no, the S will do the job for you. The S supports resolutions of up to 1440p. It can upscale to 4k but if you never plan on getting a 4kTV, 1080p is all you need and the S will do this just fine.

Do you like to buy disc-based games, new or preowned?

If yes, the series X is required as the series S does not have a disc drive.

Do you download lots of games?

The series S has a very small hard drive and although it can be expanded, it is expensive. If you download a lot, it might be worth getting the series X for the larger 1TB of storage.

Do you prefer indie games over AAA?

If you love indie games or are just a casual gamer who wants to play a game like Fortnite, Minecraft or some other popular game with friends over Xbox Live the S will be a better console to pick. Most of these games will not push a console to its limit. There will be little graphical difference between these games.

Are you on a tight budget?

The Xbox Series S has a retail price of $300. This is a lot cheaper than the more hefty price tag of $500 for the Series X.

If so, then you may be interested to check out some classic casino style games on your Nintendo or Xbox. Here we’ll take a look specifically at blackjack, arguably the most popular table game at the casino. So, let’s jump right in.

Super Blackjack Battle 2 Turbo Edition - Nintendo

Fans of Super Blackjack Battle for Nintendo are most definitely going to want to check out the follow-up - Super Blackjack Battle II Turbo Edition. In this game, you're given 12 brand-new characters to compete as when you're busy trying to achieve ultimate blackjack player status.

Play Game

Standout features in the game include the classic blackjack feel that everyone knows and loves, some rather intriguing characters that have their own back-story, and the fact that it's got a real retro arcade feel to it. It also has single player mode and the ability to play with up to four players at a time - which means you can challenge your friends. Originally released in 2018, this one still manages to hold its own in the genre.

It should be noted that this game is also available on the Xbox console with its own unique features and twists.

Just Black Jack - Nintendo Switch

The concept art for the game

Set in a futuristic cyberpunk world, the core gameplay of Bleeding Edge rewards cooperative playstyle - because you can not win on your own in those kinds of games. The playable fighters can be customized to further fit with each players' playstyle, as well as to be more suitable in the teamplay aspect. From what revealed just far, my guess is that this game's playable characters are not anchored in any pre-designed role like attackers or supports, instead, the choice of which role on the team will be determined by the player's playstyle.

A feature that is promised to be available when the game is released, is the training 'Dojo' mode - where players can test out character's control, builds, and skills against AI. This feature is accessible while you're offline, as well as when you are finding matches.

The Falconeer, an aerial combat RPG game from Tomas Sala Studio, is coming to PC and Xbox One next year.]]>

The Falconeer is an aerial combat RPG game from Tomas Sala Studio. Set in a fantasy ocean world, you will fly above the Great Ursee world and fight mystical creatures in sea, land, and air. Let check out the announcement trailer of The Falconeer below.

Unlike other aerial combat games, you will not fly in the air inside a high-tech aircraft. Instead, you will be riding a giant Falcon as a “Falconeer,” a skilled warrior with powerful ranged weapons.

In the open-world of The Falconeer, players can do pretty much anything and go everywhere they want. The only mission that you really need to care about in The Falconeer is the mission that you set out for yourself. Each player will have a different cause and experience as they discover the mysterious and beautiful world in the game, be it traveling around the world, completing missions or fighting pirates.

The game mixes classic dogfighting mechanics with acrobatic moves in a third-person perspective to give player fluid movements in combat against flying beetles, manta rays, dragon-like weavers, and even other Falconeers. With wonderous and hauntingly beautiful locations, the game will definitely be able to satisfy all the aerial combat fans out there.

There will be a demo of The Falconeer available at X019 during November 14-16 for players to try out the game for the first time. More information about the game will be revealed next year by Wired Productions on their official channels.

<![CDATA[All The Things We Know About The Next Xbox Of Microsoft]]> https://gurugamer.com/pc-console/project-scarlett-what-do-we-know-about-the-next-xbox-of-microsoft-4107 Wed, 19 Jun 2019 03:47:00 +0000 https://gurugamer.com/pc-console/project-scarlett-what-do-we-know-about-the-next-xbox-of-microsoft-4107
The next Xbox is coming at in the holiday season of 2020, with lots of technologies and terms in its hood. ]]>

Back in E3 2018, we got the confirmation from Microsoft that they were working on the next-gen Xbox console. At this year E3, they gave us more about that machine's capabilities, and also its provisional name together with a launch time window.

We expect to get much more information on the machine in the next 12 months, even so, many early adopters are making their plans right now. So what they can expect? Now, here are some known details and speculations about the Project Scarlett, how better it will do than the previous gen, and what games will be on it.

The release date of Project Scarlett

It is the holiday season of 2020. In case that this new console follows the similar cadence of the Xbox One, the company would reveal more information about it in the 2020 E3.

However, Microsoft is really painful about the original positioning of the Xbox One - as a TV set-top box together with Kinect and social features. But around 66% of people don't care about that. It was a significant set back for the Xbox One before the competition in 2013 with the PlayStation 4.

Will Project Scarlett be better than Xbox One X?

In the promotional video of Project Scarlett which we saw at E3 this year, there are lots of tech-speak. But the main points that many players will pay attention to is it will support 8k resolution, feature an SSD ( same as PS5) that will bring more speed to the load times, also have the maximum frame rate of 120 frames/s.

Xbox Project Scarlett Specs
But according to Variety, that claim is only about the power of the central processor, not the graphical capabilities of Scarlett.

Another term that we have seen appeared lots is "ray tracing in real-time" and if you don't know what that is then checked out this video below,

All that means a big jump in processing power. But how much? In the presentation, Microsoft did say that it will have around 4 times more power than the Xbox One X. But according to Variety, that claim is only about the power of the central processor, not the graphical capabilities of Scarlett.

Will it do cloud?

The most discussing concept around these days for this unit is, of course, cloud gaming, cloud computing, and cloud streaming. But to us. That mostly about how they will deliver games to our consoles.

Microsoft Project Xcloud Choi Game Xbox Tren Dien
xCloud is something more like the recent Google' Stadia project

They will use the xCloud service of Microsoft to stream games; it is quite different from the subscription of Game Pass in fact. xCloud is something more like the recent Google' Stadia project, though people say that Microsoft will probably tie xCloud and Game Pass together. The company has announced the "buffet" Ultimate Xbox Game Pass service that includes Game Pass, Xbox Live Gold, and the new PC Game Pass. It comes with the price tag of 14.99 dollars per month.

Will it be compatible backward with current gen games?

The answer is YES. Although the company is a little bit noncommittal to the backward compatibility's scope, however, at this year E3, they announced the last Xbox 360 games to be compatible with Xbox One, and from now they will focus on making games of Xbox One compatible with Scarlett.

However, we don't know what will happen with the other Xbox generations games - which we can still play on Xbox One via the Game Pass.

Phil Spencer ( of Xbox team) said that Microsoft wants to make it compatible with all generations, including peripherals and accessories, not only games. However, in the following statement from Xbox representatives, they only said that they focus on satisfying the broadest range of players as possible.

How much will Scarlett cost?

Apparently, we are not even near the stage to discuss pricing yet. It is hard also to infer the cost of the material base on the limited information that we have so far. At the center of Project Scarlett, we have a custom made chip - with CPU based on the 3rd generation Ryzen and architecture Zen 2 of AMD. It also features a GPU base on the new technology -Navi, of the company.

It is likely that with this new Scarlett console, Microsoft will increase the price of the machine.

It is likely that with this new Scarlett console, Microsoft will increase the price of the machine. However, it still depends on how Sony will position its PS5. They will also have to consider the add-on price of xCloud/Game Pass/Xbox Live that will add weight to the minds of the consumers. One thing is sure of is that Microsoft will not want to repeat the mistake of 2013 when its console is 100 dollars more than PS4 due to those add-ons that nobody wants.

The games at the launch of Project Scarlett?

Maxresdefault
Rumors said that Forza Motorsport 8 would come out at E3. But that didn't happen.

At the keynote event of Microsoft at this year E3, Spencer said that Halo Infinite would among the launch games for the new console. So we have at least one series confirmed. Coincidentally, this will be the first Halo launch with a new console since the 1st Xbox way back in 2001. Rumors said that Forza Motorsport 8 would come out at E3. But that didn't happen. That means the driving flagship of Microsoft might be coming out with Project Scarlett. The last game in the franchise was Forza Motorsport 7which came out back in 2017.

960x0
For example, we have Bethesda Softworks who is making technology with the name of Orion to help deliver Doom Eternal to stream services like xCloud and Stadia.

From there, it is a total guessing game. We have the Xbox One that is totally compatible backward with all Xbox hardware over the course of its 19 years history would have lots of this generation games remain relevant in 2020. For example, we have Bethesda Softworks who is making technology with the name of Orion to help deliver Doom Eternal to stream services like xCloud and Stadia.

You think you are a tough gamer? You should try these titles.]]>

The development process of video games witnessed many stages. First was the classical arcades in the 80-90s, which demanded a constant stream of playing from one round to another. Following those was the first generation of consoles. You could find all the games running on these platforms surprisingly hard, due to the limitations in technology, as well as the cunning minds of the developers.

As we advanced to the 21st century, video games became much easier, user-friendlier than in the past, thanks to the comprehensive tutorials tailored in the game and the variety of difficulties. Yet there are still many titles with astonishingly high difficulty, which require a great will from players to complete. Check out these 15 modern games that will be a real challenge to you.

15. The Witness

Witness

Among the puzzle-solving games in a few years back, the Witness is probably the most brilliant one you can experience. The game puts you in a likely empty island, and with only one line, you have to move from one point to another in order to solve the game’s various logical puzzles. You will find the enormous number of puzzles and the requirements for each one most difficult. You should also learn the “rules” and apply them to the following puzzles to move on and reveal the world’s secrets. As you advance in the game, you can realize that you have to rely on the previous puzzles to solve the latter ones. This game will push your brain and your eyes to the very top of their capabilities. Each puzzle you meet in the game will grant you a whole new experience.

14. Monster Hunter: World

Image

First released last year, Monster Hunter: World rapidly became Capcom’s most favorite product of all time. It was the game’s user-friendliness that made it more popular than its predecessors. Yet any newbies to the game would easily realize how hard the game could be. You must arm yourself with a considerable knowledge to combat in-game monsters: each one possesses its own attack behaviors. It is advisable that you master those patterns whilst being patient for the righteous moment to perform your attack. Understanding all 14 weapons of the game is also a hard task, since each of which has its own pros and cons that affect the way you combat. Monster Hunter: World requires you to encounter 48 monsters in total and defeat them all — it will take you many hours not just to win those monsters, but to practice thoroughly before each fight as well.

13. XCOM 2

Ss D7c7eee81e4f9de3deac5358a0d8766c11fa83b2 1920x1

XCOM 2, as well as its brother XCOM: Enemy Unknown, puts you into the commander seat of a military strike team. Your task is to get rid of all of the dangerous alien creatures together. The two titles above are popularly difficult for their AI systems, which are astonishingly intelligent (just like aliens). If you want to win the game, you should minimize all of your mistakes (I mean it). And remember, if your friendly dies, he’s screwed, the game doesn’t allow to respawn. You will find XCOM 2 a real challenge in case you’re a gamer of perfection. During primary battles, you will encounter a lot of future stuff, from weapons, to techs and abilities. Yet losing a teammate in XCOM can be really awful, which often results in restarting the entire battle. In fact, this ain’t wrong, yet the game will automatically increase the difficulty if it finds you complete your battles flawlessly, with zero mistake and RNG.

12. VVVVVV

H2x1 Nswitchds Vvvvvv Image1600w

VVVVVV puts you in the eyes of Captain Viridian, who has just lost all of his crewmen. You will have to get over a series of levels, including a lot of spikes and perilous obstacles, so as to grasp the entire crew. The interesting part of this game is that you don’t perform ordinary moves in navigating the level (jumping, etc.), but adjust the gravity accurately instead between the ceiling and the floor. This results in some mind-hacking scenarios that require your ability to reflex as quickly as possible. Apart from the rescue mission, there are optional trophies for you to collect, yet each of them can pose a considerable challenge to you.

11. Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus

Wolfenstein 2 The New Colossus 1280x640

Your opponents in Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus may always know where you are, just like eagle eyes. To make you busier, the game will give you a little instruction on enemies’ lines of fire. If you pick harder difficulties, it will be really demanding for you when your average damage and health are decreased. At the lowest difficulty, the game is still able to take a lot of your effort to complete. You can try the “Mein Leben” difficulty, in which you get only 1 life to complete the entire campaign – only 0.1% players can complete this. Can you?

10. Spelunky

Spelunky 13 1100x616

You might have heard this title before, Spelunky is an exploring game which has surprising difficulties. Your objective is to collect all of the valuable loot while evading numerous obstacles, traps and enemies in a series of caverns generated procedurally. It is your greed that is tested the most when you play Spelunky. You may find a treasure chest out of reach while reaching a level’s ending. In case you can’t make it, you have to start over from the beginning. (frustrated, eh?) The game’s timer will surely put high pressure on you, as well as ensure you to constantly move forward. When the timer reaches 0, a ghost will spawn and chase you all around the map, which can end you instantly if touched. You may entertain a brutal, ruthless environment and enemies in Spelunky, but you will gain experience slowly (hopefully) after each run.

9. Celeste

01

Celeste is the story of a young female Madeline, who goes up a mountain whilst coping with her mental problems on the way. Celeste focuses on solving puzzles in order to progress the game. Precision is the most demanding thing in those puzzles, and your accuracy is increasingly tested as you get close to the game’s ending. The game will test your skill restlessly, yet you sure will improve it once you finish each puzzle. The entire game can make you feel like a stable incline, which is barely enough to push you out of your safe zone to move forward. As you complete the main task, you can finish some optional objectives by collecting the strawberries around the levels. But don’t think they’re easy, they often require your ability to think creatively to achieve.

8. Dead Cells

Dead Cells Review 6794 1280x720

You may find Dead Cells similar to other procedural-based roguelike titles, yet you’ll gradually realize how it’s different once you play it. The continuous game flow consists of discovering a lot of connected corridors, acquiring in-game items and combating enemies in your path. As you progress the game, you can find numerous secrets and handful of powerups to claim. You should also prioritize on picking up the scrolls, which let you to enhance your Survival, Tactics and Brutality. These traits can affect your average health, as well as the damage you can inflict with each weapon. Your AI opponents are ruthless, who often strike you in groups and use projectile shots. At first, you will only get a humble amount of health, yet it will appear more as you advance the game. Boss fighting is also really challenging, when it requires not only the rightful way to build your character, but also the gamer’s skill to win.

7. Darkest Dungeon

Ss 58ec203cf71be84a7eb61774cb8f23560917a3b2 1920x1

Darkest Dungeon is a famous dungeon exploring title where you are the leader of an adventure team attempting to remove the dangerous inhabitants from the house you inherited. The dungeons in the game are procedurally-created, which are full of deadly traps, enemies and also, valuable items. When you travel through the dungeons, the game will give you a torch. And this is the tricky point. As you advance, the fire became weaker, so is your team. This game will test your bravery to take risks, as the bigger risks you take, the bigger prize you get.

6. The Binding of Isaac

Binding Of Isaac 01 7948

The Binding of Issac, brainstormed and designed by Edmund McMillen (creator of Super Meat Boy), is also a dungeon exploring title that gives you zero comfortable. You are Issac, a young child whose mother removed all of his stuff to ensure his safety from the world outside. Each level starts from the basement, when you explore a set of rooms that are created procedurally. These rooms are inspired from The Legend of Zelda’s design and filled with loot, secrets and enemies. Nearly 200 types of enemies with nearly 200 different attack style require you to recognize as fast as possible when you get in a room. The trap systems and projectiles ensure you to be busy all the time dodging all of them. Issac can change his appearance or open new abilities by finding 550 valuable items on the track. You may think these abilities are advantageous, yet some of which in this game actually make your play much harder.

5. Enter The Gungeon

Ss 1

Produced by Dodge Roll Games studio, the game’s primary mechanics is actually… dodge roll. Your objective is to fight the enemies and survive through a number of floors generated procedurally. The deeper you enter the dungeon, the harder the game will be, as the enemies get tougher and resources get rarer. Your in-game opponents have the unique attack pattern for each of them, and bosses are completely a nightmare. Movement is also of the most importance, not to mention the skill to take advantage of the covers. Enter the Gungeon features 200 different types of gun, each of which has its own ability that you should master once you get in the game. The key to success in this game is to master the arsenal as soon as possible, given the fact that you only have a limited amount of health and numerous unforgiving enemies.

4. Super Meat Boy

Screenshot 02

Being a brother of the flash game Meat Boy (2008), Super Meat Boy offers you the adventure to save a piece of meat’s girlfriend. In 2010, when Super Meat Boy first showed up, gamers rapidly recognized the brutality of this title. It starts with a basic interface, integrated with in-game tutorials as players make progress. Yet once you are familiar with the control mechanics, you will encounter all kinds of buzzsaws, spikes and hazards. In Super Meat Boy world, your high accuracy and patience is put to the ultimate test. Fortunately, the game allows you to respawn immediately when you die.

3. Cuphead

Cuphead Wallpaper 3

Superficially, Cuphead seems to be like a piece of cake. The 1930 vibe of the game recalls us the dawn of cartoons, which yields us a feeling of comfort. But you might think twice once you spend some time in this game. Cuphead combines between hit-and-run factor with extremely difficult boss fights, which vary from nightmares of bullets to rapid movement sequences.

2. Nioh

3192550 0001

Nioh stands out in this list thanks to the offensive tendency in combating, which is different from other titles with just tough boss fights and harsh combats. You can adjust your stance in game’s battles to inflict the desired amount of damage. There are three types of stance: High, Mid and Low, each of which prioritizes one aspect, such as damage (High), speed (Low) or balance (Mid). The key to success in Nioh lies in your ability to read your foes and choose the right moment to adjust stances. Nioh’s bosses are truly the stars of the game, when they give you a really limited chance to attack, even with pro players. You should also grasp a thorough understanding in combating abilities, different types of gears in order to complete this game.

1. Dark Souls/Bloodborne/Sekiro: Shadow’s Die Twice

Dark Souls Remastered Backlog 3137 1920x1080

No surprise, right? In the past 10 years, this series is probably the only one to pose a consistent level of difficulty for its players. You actually have to die in those games to sharpen your playing skills. It can be really frustrating to die in Soulsborne, when you prolly have to restart the entire journey, only to return to the foe that killed you and do everything over one more time. Combating mechanics is so hard to master, given it’s the game’s core. If you are inexperienced, don’t bother if you die too much. You need to learn the pattern of enemies’ strikes. Believe me, you will learn something after you die, and after a hundred times of dying, you will probably get a proper fight.

The next version of new hair for PS5 and Next Xbox is being developed by the EA]]>

EA has shown a new film of the hair rendering innovation from its Frostbite game motor. To make better hair surfaces and lighting in EA games, the innovation will be utilized. They are discharged on the PS5 and the next Xbox console.

EA's new hair rendering innovation
EA's new hair rendering innovation

EA has uncovered a montage of the hair rendering technology in Frostbite through an unlisted clip posted to its official YouTube channel. With the camera indicating how the hair looks from behind, the nearly half a minute second clip shows a model sculpture walking. As the model takes a step, it seems that every strand on the model's head move freely, rising and falling as the model takes a step. Likewise, when the model twists and turns, bouncing through the air, the hair jumps convincingly

Besides, EA also offers watchers a look at how the hair looks with changed lighting. In view of how the light is hitting the hair, it will have lighter and darker segments. In the video, the default hair color was a shade of blonde. However, the lighting innovation also successfully hit different shades of hair. For instance, light blue, black, reddish-brown, gray, and splendid green. Numerous EA games have character customization ongoing interaction. Hence, the lighting and hair physics will be compelling whatever the player character or NPC resembles.

The lighting and hair physics will be compelling

The reaction to the video has been favorable. Fans are asked if they will have to unlock the hair physics from loot boxes or with microtransactions. Luckily, some of them said to have a fabulous time at EA and its loot box controversies. Waspy, a Youtube viewer, claims on his comment that “Now just need good games.” This comment has over 270 likes. Many people, however, are considering it to be motivated to feel good about games released on the up and coming age of consoles.

Sony has stated that the PS5's specs will enable both EA and other game makers to improve games with such illustrations. Designers will probably make games with better quality surfaces. For example, condition textures and the surfaces of the character’s hair. It seems that EA will be running with that. Therefore, changes will be made to Frostbite before the launch of the new consoles.

The PS5 maker has also affirmed that the users will have preferable loading times over the PS4. This will ideally imply that regardless of what new game motor changes and new surfaces that organizations like EA make, the PS5 will most likely load them rapidly.

Voxel9, a game hacker, has managed to run and play the classic Xbox games on a Nintendo Switch.]]>

The famous Xbox fan – game development hobbyist Voxel9 has just shown off that he managed to play the first Xbox on a Nintendo Switch. This guy has just uploaded a clip to his Youtube channel showing that he was running the XQEMU Xbox emulator on a Switch device. This guy managed to open some classic games of Xbox and play in the clip, including the first Halo title.

Halo: Combat Evolved on a Switch

The video by Voxel9 starts with some running code on the screen of the Nintendo Switch. After all the codes have been compiled, the screen shows the intro animation of the first console by Microsoft (released in 2001). Then Voxel9 opens Halo: Combat Evolved and play the game a little bit.

This guy can even run the famous title JSRF: Jet Set Radio Future on his Switch. This game was released in 2002, and it is supposed for Xbox only. No other console has this game, even the Xbox One backwards compatibility program does not feature this title. This is a great thing for hardcore gamers of Xbox since we all want to see the classic titles back alive.

However, there is bad news for any gamers that keep their expectation high with this achievement. The XQEMU Xbox emulator on Nintendo Switch is not smooth at all, and the frame per second rate is really low. All the Xbox game in the Switch runs at an extremely slow speed that Voxel9 had to speed up his Youtube video four times. The reason is simple: the XQEMU Xbox emulator requires a high-end PC to run it smoothly, so low-end devices like Switch cannot handle the program properly.

One more inconvenient of this Xbox-Switch is that Voxel9 had to use a PlayStation 4 controller to control the device because the emulator can’t detect the Joy-Con of the Switch. Imagine using a PS4 controller on a Nintendo Switch to play Xbox games. Crazy huh?

Although this method is mainly for show-off, Voxel9 showed us that impossible can be done. Perhaps this achievement can open up more possibility for the gaming industry.

<![CDATA[The Marathon Trilogy, A Bungie’s Classic For Modern iOS Platform]]> https://gurugamer.com/mobile-games/the-marathon-trilogy-a-bungies-classic-for-modern-ios-platform-2454 Thu, 11 Apr 2019 04:56:00 +0000 https://gurugamer.com/mobile-games/the-marathon-trilogy-a-bungies-classic-for-modern-ios-platform-2454
The Marathon trilogy from Bungie is a classic FPS franchise for Mac back in the 90s', then solo developer Daniel Blezek revived the series by ported it to iOS. Now, these ports have been updated for the latest iOS devices.]]>

If you used to be a Mac gamer or you are a pretty hardcore Halo fan, chances are you are familiar with the Marathon trilogy. The games were released and developed by Bungie in the mid-90s only for Mac. They were kind of an answer of Mac to Wolfenstein and Dooms on PC which had achieved big popularity. Different than the run ‘n gun and blast-a-thons of DoomMarathon is a game which rich lore and very interesting story. There are many puzzles and platforming features in this game besides the obvious FPS elements. The first Marathon was a huge hit which leads to the creation of two next games, Marathon Infinity and Marathon 2: Durandal. This trilogy is the thing that made the name for Bungie. Later on, it becomes the influencers for the title Halo: Combat Evolved. In Halo games, you could find many easter eggs call back to the Marathon trilogy. And if broadly speaking we could think that Marathon and Halo are in the same universe.

There are many puzzles and platforming features in Marathon besides the obvious FPS elements.

Of course, we all know the story of Bungie. Microsoft bought them back in 2000 to lead their new game development department. Then they worked in the launch of the new Xbox console which is the home of Halo: Combat Evolved. However, the old Marathon games still live on as a classic title which is still good to play until today. Bungie was also related to an interesting story on iOS. Right before the acquisition of Microsoft, Bungie released the source code of Marathon 2 engine to the public. Therefore, many users that engine and enhanced it up to use in their game like Aleph One and many other titles in the past 20 years. Also in 2010, just a short time after the release of the iPad original, Daniel Blezek the developer has ported the original Marathon to the iPad as his personal project. He kept on working on that project secretly until February of 2011 when he announced it to the world.

Marathon for iPad

The announcement of Daniel Blezek for a Marathon on iPad has gathered a lot of attention from fans. There are also questions on the legality of a commercial port like Marathon. Would it be legal to release the game on the App Store of Apple using the libraries, open source code, licensing terms? Then the silence after that led to many fans believe that the legal blocks made the game canned. But in reality, it was the opposite. Bungie caught the news of the port for Marathon iPad then have called out for Blezek to give him their official support and blessing. In fact. you can read the interview between Bungie and Blezek back in June 2011 which has some very interesting information on this amazing project. It is no longer available on the website of Bungie but you could still find the transcript on the official website of Marathon mobile. This all results in the launch of the Marathon iPad port as free-2-playback in July of 2011. It has received positive feedback so far.

After that, you could totally download and play Marathon iPad for free. It still has optional in-game purchases. One of those options allows you to download high-resolution assets that were created for the Xbox Live release of the game. These high-res assets will replace the low-res assets in the default version. The in-game market also offers the option to purchase access to the Master Chief mode, which is practically a cheat mode. There is also an IAP to buy many different cosmetic crosshairs. Of course, players can just choose to support the developer who is a crazy lone guy who has spent countless sleepless weekends and nights to bring Marathon to the freaking iPad!

The trilogy port

The Marathon Trilogy A Bungies Classic For Modern
The huge success of the iPad port of the original Marathon had led to the development of Marathon 2 for iOS

So the huge success of the iPad port of the original Marathon had led to the development of Marathon 2 for iOS. They launched that port in December of 2011 with Universal support for all iPhones versions. They also extend that support to the original Marathon via a free update. Thus, Marathon Infinity also came to the iOS on may of 2012 which completed the trilogy. All the three games come with different IAP enhancements and options together with many standard and touchscreen control customizations. These games are really great for both newcomers and original fans to the series to experience an amazing FPS adventure.

No more updates or supports

After that, all went on alright in the world of mobile and those fans of Marathons kept on enjoying the game for a couple more years. But then, 6 years ago around the 2013's Spring, they stopped update or support for all the 3 games. Which in turn make the games slowly went outdated because without the updates and supports the game couldn't be played on newer versions of iOS. This was quite sad because this is the exact same path that other FPS port to iOS has also taken, like Doom and Wolfenstein 3D. However, there is still a bright side. Just a few months ago they have released an unexpected update for all the 3 games in the Marathon trilogy. This added support for the newest version of iOs with all the screen sizes. In fact, I have just found out about these updates even though they were released back in January. These updates have brought me total delight and shock.

These updates have brought me total delight and shock.

I don't have any explanations nor information on what has changed with the development team of iOS Marathon trilogy. But whatever the case I am really excited for these updates. It also seems that they have been keeping the support on-going ever since January. And just last month they have also released a few new fixes and features ( gyroscope aiming and 3D Touch support). Still, all of the games in the trilogy on iOS remain FREE - with IAPs of course. So it does not matter if you are a fan from the original game back in the '90s, love the game from the 2011 iOs ports, or a newcomer to the whole series you should give Marathon trilogy a try and download the game on iOS then dive in the world of classic FPS experience.

Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice has been released last week and already there is this speedrunner player beat the game in less than an hour.]]>

As expected earlier, on March 22, 2019, the adventure game, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice has officially launched worldwide. With compelling, dramatic gameplay and a storyline, open, this game absolutely deserves to be the epic of the Dark Souls series.

A Speedrunner Has Beaten Sekiro In Less Than An Ho

Compared to its predecessors such as Dark Souls or Bloodborne, the game has changed in many ways to undress completely the fighting style, as well as adding parkour and stealth mechanisms. Changing the battle mechanism will make Boss battles in Sekiro: Die Shadows Twice completely different from From Software's older titles. The main character in Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice is known as The Wolf (Wolf) and the journey of reminiscing ancient Japan promises to bring a new experience to gamers.

Summing up scores on prestigious review journals, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice averaged 90/100, making the latest From Software's latest child totally able to sit with the same names as legendary Dark Souls, The Witcher, GTA or Fallout.

And also depend on your perception of the game, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice could either be a very hard or a very easy game. But no matter what, the current record for this game is just impressive.

Recently, danflesh111 - a Twitch streamer has completed all the game in just under an hour. To be more specific, they have completed the game in 50:52 ( 50 minutes - 52 seconds). Take that in comparison with the 20 hours it takes me to get to the first boss. I have to admit that I feel really down that people could do such a speed runner in just a week. Despite this speedrun takes on the quickest ending, however, that didn't make this achievement any less impressive.

And as we know the gaming industry too well, the achievement of danflesh111 would be standing there for long. Plenty of players and people out there are aiming for the record, some amateurs have even pointed out some point to improve in the run.
