1. Elden Ring

Elden Ring, while imperfect, is the best implementation of an open-world action RPG that I've ever played. It feels like the culmination of every iteration of FromSoft's 'Souls' games into one truly amazing experience filled with intrigue, struggle, and eventual triumph.

FromSoft didn't make Dark Souls 4. This game is Dark Souls 4, 5, and 6 all in one. Absolutely massive game and the open world part doesn't feel like an attempt to pad the game (like most open world games do). Elden Ring's open-world game has various mini-dungeons/secrets hidden away in every corner of the map. It is to your advantage to seek out these locations to find rare materials and unique weaponry that may or may not change your play style altogether. The open world feels like there is always something waiting for you to discover, such as powerful enemies that drop unique weapon arts (ashes of war) or an NPC standing around waiting to offer you a quest. With the introduction of a day/night cycle, there are even some bosses that only spawn at nighttime in specific locations waiting to ambush you, but offer unique drops as well.

As with any game, it's not for everyone, but if you love souls games, you'd be doing yourself a disservice by missing this one. If you've never played a souls game, this is the best one to try. The most accessible by far. No crazy hard tutorial bosses, the new ashen summoning bell gives some great support in difficult areas, and the fact you can always leave harder fights and come back to them later makes it so you rarely run into situations where you know booting up the game means you're gonna be brick walling until either the boss dies or you give up.

2. Grim Dawn

Grim Dawn is an ARPG very similar in style to games such as Diablo 2, Torchlight and Titan Quest.

The thing that really separates this game from other ARPGs on the market is the sheer amount of customization available to the player. The class system works by combining two masteries on a single character. Each mastery has its own skill tree and is suited to a particular playstyle. For example, the Nightblade mastery is suited to a dual wield melee playstyle, while Arcanist is suited to a more traditional caster playstyle. If you were to select both classes at once, your class would become a Spellbreaker and you would have access to both Nightblade and Arcanist skill trees at the same time. Each mastery has a certain amount of overlap with others, so it's possible to create a caster character even if one of your masteries is more melee suited. As of the latest expansion, there are 36 class combinations available and all classes have at least one (if not more) viable builds at endgame.

Layered on top of the class system is the Devotion constellation. This is a second character advancement system that is common to all classes and masteries. You earn devotion points by cleansing shrines scattered throughout the world of Grim Dawn. Progression in the devotion system is based on certain constellation affinities. By filling in constellations, further constellations are unlocked based on similar affinities to others.

On top of the class system, players also have access to components and augment to further customize their characters. Components serve the same functions as gems/runes in Diablo 2. They are attached to armor directly and can grant stat boosts, resistances and even skills depending on the component.

3. Tales of ARISE

It feels like Tales of Arise finally got that budget Zestiria and Berseria were lacking. Arise no longer targets PS3 as its main platform, so the overall presentation is mind-blowingly miles away from its predecessors. I'm familiar with all PS1 and PC Tales Of titles, along with recent BANDAI NAMCO action jRPGs like SCARLET NEXUS and CODE VEIN.

Overall, it is an excellent title for those that have never touched the franchise. The game explains all the mechanics and there are no mind-numbing complex systems to ruin your experience. Most of the titles are stand-alone in terms of story, so you won't be spoiling yourself.

The visuals are heavily stylized, the game was advertised to have an "Atmospheric Shader" and I would say that along with image sharpening the results are impressive! All areas of the game have respectable backdrops that are often screenshot-worthy. Gone are the days of running around in 10 reskins of same-looking modular caves! All areas of the game feel like they were hand-crafted, and this level of quality persists throughout most of the game.

Previous games suffered badly from the dungeon design cheapness, and that feeling persisted throughout the whole journey. Combat is polished and feels smooth. The more story is progressed, the more mechanics are unlocked, so I wouldn't recommend grinding in the same spot. Since the mechanics are unlocked gradually, the player gets enough breathing room to practice. Each main party member can be controlled at any time, so you can pick your favorite fighting style.

4. Monster Hunter: World

I’m not a fan of coop games and I really hate grinding but the goal of this game is grinding in co-op. After seeing lots of positive feedback I decided to jump on this game and I was very pleasantly surprised.

For those who don't know what this game is about, it is what the name tells you – a monster hunter game. You hunt monsters, gather resources, and craft new gear to hunt stronger monsters to get better gear. That’s it, very simple formula, but the gameplay is really amazing. Hunting is not as simple as it sounds. First, you need to track the monster by finding its tracks which could take some time if the monster is completely new to you. There are lots of weapons to choose and you need to learn the weapon you choose because they all are different and can change your play style completely.

It plays like an action game where you attack and dodge. But the fun part is different monsters. They have different moves which you need to learn, you need to read their moves and prepare for their attacks. You can’t just run to the monster and mash the attack button to kill it. This tactic would only work on monsters below your level. First, you need to choose the right gear with the right stats for each monster. You need to avoid strong attacks and find a window to hit the monster and use healing items.

You can also use other items like traps to capture the monster, but first, you need to weaken it. You can cut off and break various parts of monsters, like cutting off the tail for example. After you finish the monster you can collect its parts and use them on crafting weapons and armor. Oh, and one more thing – you can use the environment to your advantage, like shooting a huge rock that falls on a monster. Or another monster could wander into the same place and attack the monster you’re fighting.

5. Warframe

Warframe is an MMO, co-op, third-person shooter, taking place in our very own solar system, at an unimaginably distant point in time, where two major factions vie for control in the aftermath of a great war. Players take on the role of the Tenno – ancient warriors now needed more than ever to keep balance within the universe and protect innocents from the new war they find themselves in. The Tenno operate the titular Warframes, battlesuits with exceptional combat prowess, agility, and space magic.

After choosing your Warframe, you’re dropped into a tutorial where you learn the basics of Warframe’s excellent combat and movement systems. You get a primary, secondary, and melee weapon, and can switch between them on the fly. Each Warframe also has four unique abilities, ie. space magic. Although the game doesn’t have a combo meter, it is very evocative of Devil May Cry, Bayonetta, and similar hack-n-slash games. The movement is cathartic, as you can glide through the air, run on walls, slide, twirl, and generally parkour all over the place. It’s a lot of fun.

After the tutorial, you get your very own spaceship, from which you’ll be able to fly across the galaxy and participate in the abundant content Warframe offers. You can visit all of the planets in the Solar system, and then some. While some of them have open-world areas, the majority of Warframe’s game modes you’ll get to play will be standalone missions, such as Survival, Defense, Assassination, Excavation, etc. As you do so, you will be awarded crafting resources and blueprints on which to use them, usually for crafting new weapons and Warframes. You’ll also be awarded Mods, which you can equip on your equipment to modify its various stats.

From powerful telekinetic blasts that can hurl large objects at enemies... to summoning bees out of your hand, each skill is just really fun to use. There are also gene tonics that provide passive abilities as well.

2 - Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag

Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag is the sixth major installment in the Assassin's Creed series. Players step into the shoes of protagonist Edward Kenway, who is a part of the centuries-old struggle between the Assassins and the Templars. The game's setting spans the West Indies with the 3 main cities of Havana, Kingston, and Nassau, along with numerous sunken ships, islands, and forts.

Unlike previous games, Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag's gameplay focuses more on the ship-based exploration of the seamless open-world map, alongside ship combat. However, it still retains the series' 3rd person land-based exploration, stealth system, and melee combat. Edward Kenway captains the Jackdaw, a ship he captures from the Spanish fleet in an early game mission.

Overall, the best parts of Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag are its rich game world, interesting missions, fun ship combat and beautiful soundtrack. This is a 2013 game - a low end PC could run it just fine. It is one of the best pirate games on PC.

3 - Just Cause 2

Just Cause 2 is a 2010 action-adventure game, which is old enough to run on almost anything. It's about as close as you'll get to playing an action movie on an open-world map on PC. From shooting down helicopters with a Gatling gun, parachuting out of sports cars at the last second to hijacking planes in mid-air. There are a lot of extreme things you can do, with some explosions added in-between.

Players step into the shoes of Rico Rodriguez, a field operative of the Agency. His mission is to overthrow the island dictatorship of Panau. The world map is fairly big with a variety of landscapes, including deserts, mountains and jungles, and over three hundred settlements.

The game features a large arsenal of weapons, that players can use to fight enemies. From two-handed pistols to rocket launchers, and a variety of sea, land and air vehicles, it is among the best games like GTA for PC that does not focus on stealing cars.

4 - Batman: Arkham Asylum

Batman: Arkham Asylum is a 2009 action-adventure game that put the players into the cape and cowl of the iconic DC hero Batman. While looking good, Batman: Arkham Asylum is lightweight enough that even a low end PC could run it smoothly.

In Batman: Arkham Asylum, the Joker instigated a plot to seize control of Arkham Asylum, trapping Batman inside with many of his archenemies. Players have to use Batman's many abilities to defeat their foes and get out.

While Shadow of Mordor is an open-world game, it is pretty lightweight as there are no big structures on the map.

In this game, players control a ranger named Talion, whose family was murdered by the Dark Lord's forces. His life was saved by an elven ghost named Celebrimbor, the creator of the rings of power. Therefore, the main story missions follow Talion's quest for revenge, with side quests that reveal more of the story and Celebrimbor's past.

Aside from the Tolkien-based settings (if you are a LOTR fan), the combat is probably the best part in Shadow of Mordor. Players can complete missions using melee, ranged combat, and stealth approaches, mixing special focus-based attacks in between.

Hounds of Valor is an action RPG game from the indie developer DogAtWork Games, which has taken a lot of inspiration from the PS2 classic titles such as God of War and Okami. With that as a base, the game's hack-n-slash action is very smooth with detailed animation and a wide set of skills for humans' best friends.

The concept of Hounds of Valor

Hounds of Valor doesn't have a special story of plot twist or something like that, since the life of a dog is much simpler and less scandalous than us. All we have to do in this game is stepping in the paws of a dog that has mastered the art of using a sword with its mouth. Heading to the vast green field, it will take on the battles with any weird things he deemed dangerous.

Inspired by Okami and God of War, the hack-n-slash action of this game looks more smooth and creative than I've expected. The swordmaster canine friend have a lot of moves to perform with his insanely big sword, including a normal attack, a heavy strike, a bash.

Furthermore, each of those attacks will have bonus effects and functions when you choose to hold the button to charge your attack. There is also an aerial attack, which you'll jump to the sky and glamorously slam the ground to feel like a grand entrance! The enemies are not going to be stupid punchbags, so you couldn't expect to get rid of them by just flailing your swords. Instead, you'll have to mix up those attacks for some good combos.

Apart from the melee strike, our dog also has some knives under its paws for the long-range attack. It doesn't deal much damage, but it's good for investigation on the enemies, and is suitable to keep some distance and buy time with them if your HP drops too low.

The developer and publisher Tripwire Interactive has introduced their latest game in a humorous way: human has killed over 10 crores of sharks per year, but only five humans were eaten by sharks. That's not a fair number at all, and it's time for the aquatic predators to strike back. And the holiday can't be a better chance to pull off this mission.

To be more specific, Maneater takes the settings of the southern US Gulf Coast, where people flooded her to enjoy their vacation with bright sun and warm water. However, they'll never notice a danger hiding from the radar under the water - the man-eating shark. Controlling this dangerous creature, you'll have to survive in the open ocean, while looking for the chance to get your most delicious meals.

Basically, Maneater is a single-player action RPG with a lot of similarities to another shark game - Jaw Unleashed. However, this new one from Tripwire has more potentials to provide, as it's an open-world RPG that allows you to freely do everything you want - as long as you don't die of danger or starving. Eat - Explore - Evolve, that's what you can do in this game.

To be more specific, you'll control your shark wandering underneath the water, through rivers and streams to find food. Easy as it might sound, the in-game world is not polluted like our real world, so it has a lot of species for you to consume, from the jellyfish to shrimps and many things else apart from plastic bags and bottles. You can also take this chance to freely explore the deep and beautiful world under the sea that's embellished by sunken wrecks and corals.

However, you're not only here to eat, but to pay some revenge as well. Human has killed a huge number of your species, and it's time for you to strike back. Hiding from the most unexpected place, you will launch yourself onto the surface at rip off human limbs, giving them a reason to fear the underwater threat. Furthermore, they're also on your menu list as well, and they're delicious!

If you eat enough of humans, you can evolve yourself to become even more dangerous. You'll grow inside, your jaws will get stronger, and you can even equip yourself with dangerous armors that give you the ability to deliver electric shocks. You can customize what you want to turn into!

For PC, Maneater is announced to be an Epic Games Store-exclusive and will stay there for a year until getting to other storefronts.

For consoles, the game will come out for all major devices, including PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. Both the PC and consoles version will reach the public on May 20, 2020 - the holiday times to remind people about the danger of shark.

Games that take the settings of the Wild West with cowboys and gunfights come to the industry in all shapes and sizes. However, it's very rare to find a game that combines a fantasy world with the Wild West theme, and Weird West is the newest one we know. It's the product from the developer WolfEye Studios, which consists of co-devs of Dishonored and Prey.

A quick introduction of Weird West

The publisher Devolver Digital didn't give us any information about Weird West's story yet. All we've known so far is that it will bring you to a dark fantasy version of the Wild West with the gunslingers live together with fantastical beings. Through the early images, we can be quite sure that it will contain werewolf, secret religious groups and many more to be revealed.

Instead of providing us something about the characters or what happens, the developer only hints that we will dive into the story of a group of unusual heroes, on their journey to write their own legend. We will be the one deciding how their journey will end up through our decisions that will cause irreversible consequences.

Basically, Weird West is a heavy choice-driven game, where every action we do will change the world. On the other side, you'll take control of your characters from a top-down perspective, and follow them to unforgiving battles in this weird land to find ancient powers.

From the trailer and screenshots, you will fight your opponents through the Wild West-themed gunfires, in which you can interact with the environment to turn the battles to your favor, or fight as a fierce werewolf tearing down your enemies. Additionally, you can prepare weapons and some usable items, as well as upgrade your skills and stats prior to the battles.

Release date and supported platforms

The publisher Devolver Digital and the developer WolfEye Studios hasn't announced the official release date for Weird West yet.

However, we know for sure that the game will come out for PC via Steam, and information on consoles support will come in the future.

At the same event, the Chinese developer 24 Entertainment has revealed their new ninja game that looks quite similar to FromSoftware's masterpiece - namely Naraka: Bladepoint. The reveal trailer of the game features smooths word actions and similar Hookshot platforming features, but in style!

A quick look on Naraka: Bladepoint

Naraka: Bladepoint takes the Eastern settings with its aesthetic landscape and beautiful ancient buildings. To be more specific, it's a beautiful 'forsaken but never forgiven' island namely Morus. The society here is not bound to any law systems or regulations, and there's no limit on the things you can do to each other, including killing them.

Hence, the land sees many kinds of jobs to appear, like warriors or assassins, which all fight to protect their lives and fulfill their objectives. In the middle of this deadly scene, you'll learn the story of Crimson Night - according to a poet on the game Steam page. Proudly brand himself an invincible killer that hasn't met one matched opponents over, Crimson Night gets to this island through the call of Mortality to seek the treasure he's looking for: Soulbloom.

Key features

Even though the baffling introducing poet of Naraka: Bladepoint seems to focus on Crimson Night, its trailer shows that you'll be able to take control of many characters. We're not sure that each of them will write their own story through blood, or we'll in turn play as them throughout the journey yet. And all of them look quite Japanese, even though it's a game from a Chinese developer.

Set the confusion in its characters and story aside, Naraka: Bladepointfeatures an 'Unchained Combat System'. To be more specific, its combat is similar to Sekiro, as players will have to put their skills on a true test in Souls-like battles. Learning about your enemies' attacks and choose a perfect time to strike back - that's the most important rule you've to take into account.

However, the most important feature that separates this game from the 2019's Game of the Year is its unique blocking and parrying mechanics. There are no solid buttons that you can push to block your enemies' attacks, and in order to make a move against them, you'll have to base on entirely on your attacking and moving actions. It's still about timing, but the things you must do to respond to strikes are much more complicated.

Last but not least, Naraka: Bladepoint's world is free to explore, as you will not always have to stay on track of the story. Instead, you can head to every place you want by jumping, climbing, hanging, and especially, with the help of the grappling hook. This feature will be the main selling point of the game, as it does not only open up many kinds of approach to your opponents like stealth or drop strike, but also brings the satisfaction of adventuring.

With ultra-stylish actions, unique combat system and aesthetic Eastern arts, Naraka: Bladepoint will very likely receive tons of success like Sekiro has.

At The Game Awards 2019 recently, Microsoft is very excited to announce the official name for their next-gen console: Xbox Series X (or we used to know as Xbox Scarlett). And since Sony has nothing much to show about PS5 at this event, it still got some spotlight with the introduction of Godfall - a PS5-exclusive for consoles.

Godfall is the brainchild of the developer Counterplay Games, and will reach out to the public through the hands of Gearbox Publishing. If you find this name familiar but don't remember where you've heard it, Gearbox Publishing is the publisher of the extremely famous 'looter-shooter' series Borderlands.

Considering how successful Borderlands 3 is, you can expect this next-gen 'looter-slasher' will be. Below is the reveal trailer for Godfall that you can go to check for yourself:

Overview on Godfall

At this moment, there has been little information about the story of Godfall yet. From the publisher, we only know that Godfall will take place in a fantasy world with magic and knights, and that's all. But that's not the ordinary fantasy world that you are familiar with.

It might still keep the familiar races and beings, but this world is filled with highly-advanced technology with shiny armor and awesome weapons. From the trailer, it seems that we will follow the battle of the three unknown titular heroes, wielding their own power and weapons in the war that last for thousands of years.

Gameplay features

While the trailer didn't give us much useful information, the publisher Gearbox Publishing also gave us small combat footage extracted from the game. You can see it down here:

Counterplay Games named their latest game a 'next-gen looter-slasher' with interesting melee combat mechanics. To be more specific, Godfall takes a new approach to the third-person melee action game, where you'll not rush to the enemies like a maniac but will have to focus on timing, dodging and strike back.

Bosses and monsters will not just stand there eating your full combo, so you'll have to slash them down gradually one hit by one hit. Every hit matters in this game, so you'll gain the most success by sharpening your skills rather than smashing your button.

That's the 'slasher' part - and let's come to the 'looter'. Godfall consists of many missions that require you to slay huge bosses and rewards you will head-turning loots. They can be legendary weapons or other equipment such as armor or enchanters, which you can choose to build your own character to match with your playstyles.

Last but not least, Godfall is developed to be best-played by co-op. Players can still enjoy the beautiful bright world and innovative gameplay all alone, but the bosses are very challenging - to the point that it's all most impossible to kill them on your own. And since there are three main characters, you can invite two more friends to help you with your battles. It's not only about having more players but it's also about the attack combination feature of the game, allowing you to perform massive combos in tandem from different angles.

Release date and supported platforms

The publisher Gearbox Publishing has announced that Godfall will come out in Holiday 2020, which means we will have to wait for one more year to try the game. But that doesn't matter, since apart from PC, the game will be available on PS5. To our knowledge, this is the first PS5-exclusive game for consoles.

PC gamers will get the game via Epic Games Store at launch, and it will not come to other storefronts soon.

Back in this June, the developer Gamera Interactive has revealed the story of their most ambitious game - Alaloth: Champions of the Four Kingdoms. They branded it as the 'very first souls-like isometric RPG ever created', and made a lot of efforts to make this game a tough contestant in the genre.

However, they've been struggling to find a suitable publisher since, and not until last week did they find one. All in! Games - the developer behinds a lot of successful indie games such as Tools Up! or Daymare: 1998 will help Gamera Interactive to publish Alaloth: Champions of the Four Kingdoms, and the game will come out for PC players in 2020!

The story of Alaloth: The Champions of the Four Kingdoms

Alaloth: The Champions of the Four Kingdoms takes the settings of a dark fantasy world, where four races of humans, elves, dwarfs, and orcs live happily together in their four kingdoms next to each other. However, things changes forever after the war of gods ended with the final victory of the biggest betrayal - the wicked god Alaloth.

Alaloth wants chaos in more than just the world of gods, so he brought it down to the world of mundane. To be more specific, the Four Kingdoms including The Fangs of Kemot - the kingdom of dwarfs on the northeast, the Goldwood Forest and The Republic of Larastir - the kingdom of elves on the northwest, The Blessed Realm of Edherest - the kingdom of humans on the southeast and the Desolation of Baga - the kingdom of orcs on the Southwest that used to join hands against every looming threat, now turned their fist against each other.

Alaloth has spread his evil throughout the Valley with the help of his worshipper performing dark rituals. As a result, dangerous creatures like dragons and beasts have come back to the land after disappearing for a long time for their fault. Even worse, they're not the only things destroying the peace, but also the widespread wars between kingdoms as well.

Now, the fate of the mundane world lies in the hands of the champions - the brave warriors from virtue houses in all four kingdoms. Together, they'll have to set their houses' conflicts aside and fight their way to defeat Alaloth and his worshiping pantheon.

Key features

Many of us play Dark Souls not for the story but for the gameplay, but things are going to be different with Alaloth: Champions of the Four Kingdoms, as you'll be amazed at both how deep the story of this game is and how intriguing its combats are.

Firstly, you can choose your champions from four races - Humans, Elves, Dwarves, Orcs. Additionally, you can customize the classes and the outlooks of your characters as well, so you can create whatever champion that fits you the most - both visually and playstyle-wise. That's very important since that character will go with you through the whole game.

After the character-creating phases, the game will put you into isometric adventures through the procedurally-generated world. You'll mainly explore this world through ranges of quests, which will grant you equipment, EXP and reputation. After finishing the main quests, defeating Alaloth and get through the whole story, you can start to write your own tale!

That's where the game starts to shine with its Souls-like combats. To be more specific, you'll not have to fight against hordes of enemies in which you can just get through by smashing buttons, but will only have to fight against one or two foes but in tough battles. Learning how they attack, and deciding when to strike back is the key to lead you to the final victory.

You'll have to carefully make use of your skillset, including executions, mutilations, and many other moves to get through ranges of creatures - from small monsters to huge dragons. And either way, they can send you back to your checkpoint if you lose your focus, and you'll lose your loots as a result. If you die, that location will spawn a grave, where you can revisit to claim your loots back.

Pick your fight wisely!

The grave mechanics require you to pick your fight in a favorable location - just like how you retrieve your soul point in Dark Souls games. Your loots will not stay there to wait for you to reclaim either, as someone might come across them and get what you've been desperately saving. Or you can just lose them by dying before getting them back, it's that simple.

Adding more difficulties into the battles, Alaloth: Champions of the Four Kingdoms doesn't allow you to use every loot you get on your way. Your inventory might have enough space for a two-hand sword, a one-hand sword, and a shield but more than that is impossible. Hence, you can't just store 4 or more armors or weapons in your bag, and carrying too much will take the space for your potions. And potions is not a thing that you can leave at home for battles.

Luckily, you can invite up to three more friends locally to fight alongside you. With friends, not only your fights will be a lot easier with tanks or healers, but also you can carry more loots as well. In case you don't have anyone to play with, AI-controlled companions with different backstories will help you a lot with your journey.

Through endless adventure, you'll gain reputations for not only you but also your houses as well. There are more than 40 houses with distinctive elements and codes for you to fight for, which adds a whole lot of replayability to the already content-rich game. All of the lore and background stories of this game comes from the brain of Chris Avellone (the legendary RPG creator of Star Trek, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order and Dying Light), so you can expect a lot out of Alaloth: Champions of the Four Kingdoms!

Earlier today, during the course of PDXCON, the reveal trailer for the upcoming Action RPG 'Werewolf: The Apocalypse - Earthblood' has been revealed, and to be honest, it looks really cool.

'Werewolf: The Apocalypse - Earthblood' Reveal Trailer

Werewolf: The Apocalypse - Earthblood is based on the Tabletop RPG game Werewolf: The Apocalypse and the video game is a part of the World of Darkness setting that was shared by the Vampire: The Masquerade franchise. According to the developers, this is a single-player action RPG, where players play through the game as a werewolf, to explores the American Northwest land. The game's main storyline will be presented as missions, with each mission's results affect the world as a whole.

Along with that, the game will also feature the concept of Penumbra - which is the name of a place that existed between the physical world and the spirit world. In Penumbra, players can receive sidequests from the Great Spirit of the Waterfall, to gain new abilities as the reward.

As a werewolf, players will be able to switch between the wolf form and the human form at will, each with their own gameplay mechanics. The wolf form is mainly used for combat, exploration, tracking, spying, and stealth, and the human form is used for interactions with the world. You will be able to get stronger by gaining EXP points, as well as upgrading your skill tree.

One of the main features of the game is the management of the 'rage' system, which will rise when you stay in the werewolf form. If the rage meter got overflow, you will turn into the frenzy state - that will make you more violent and powerful, at the cost of not being able to turn back into the human form.

The game is planned to be released in the middle of 2020, for PS4, PC, and Xbox One.

The two-man team at Edelweiss has been developing Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin for a while. Into the game, players will have control over its main character, Sakuna, who is the daughter of a harvest goddess and a god of war. Your mission is protecting Hinoe Island from monstrous creatures while mastering the art of producing rice.

That sounds like a weird but interesting game mixed with different gameplays. However, the game's demo at E3 didn't clearly feature the "producing rice" aspect, but we could still feel a vivid vibe of a fun game coming up.

Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin - E3 Trailer

Some people may be familiar with the combat system featured in Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin. It is kinda slow-paced gameplay, which has more in common with Castlevania than Katana Zero apparently, but Sakuna's Celestial Scarf can give her abilities to dash across the stage, avoiding enemies and sneaking behind them to attack.

Let's take a look at the gameplay below. It takes time to handle the game effectively. While the video seems not to provide an ideal performance, it will show you some interesting mechanic the game will have.

A good player of Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin will be the one who knows how to get the most out of her scarf while combining it with her fast, heavy, and special attacks. Of course, each fight requires a unique tactic. You can't battle in one style forever, although the gameplay seems to be simple.

However, you may notice that there was a problem with the gameplay shown above. After a lunging attack, our protagonist will have a tiny break between her movements. That lack of fluidity may lead to some failure when players trying to perform a perfect combo or destructive strikes.

The developers have all their time to fix this problem, or people could start getting used to its mechanic. As you can see in the video, though the player had some hard time clearing the level, he still managed to defeat the boss. The designs of monstrous creatures throughout the level are not much impressive, but the boss is fantastic! That could be a thing for players to look for when the official version comes out.

Curiousity is rising when it comes to the farming aspect of the game. However, we can expect it to blend well with the gameplay, since Nintendo Treehouse is responsible for this part. Even without it, the solid combat system still makes Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin worth waiting for.

Ys Altago is coming to Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macau

Ys Altago is a new smartphone game that based on the PSP Action RPG Ys Seven. Recently, the game’s publisher has just made an announcement for its distribution. According to Falcom, the Taiwanese online game development and management company UserJoy Technology will be publishing the game. For that, the game is coming to Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macau. Apart from those countries mentioned, no other announcements for the game release were seen, including Japan. Moreover, there has also been a set event for the game’s pre-registration. In fact, the events begin today, on November 12^th.
