God of War PC is an absolutely amazing port! I already played this game on PS4 back then, so I know what to expect, so this was more of a review of the PC port. I have a high-end PC and was worried it would still be rough, but I am easily running this at 1440p Ultra 90fps+.

As for the game, the story is incredible, the world is gorgeous, characters are very well done along with their voice acting. The combat is intense and brutal. The music is incredible as well. This game is a masterpiece, that should be played by everyone. Use DLSS if you need better fps, cause they did a good job supporting that.

2. Red Dead Redemption 2

Red Dead Redemption 2 is a masterpiece of a game, with an incredible campaign that offers one of the most immersive and captivating storytelling experiences of any game in recent memory. The game is stunningly beautiful, with an enormous world that is incredibly detailed, and packed with content.

However, the game is pretty much just an expansion of the original Spider-Man and is very short.

5. Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade

Everything in the game that's an adaptation of the original FF7 I love. It gave me major nostalgia vibes to walk through gorgeously rendered versions of FF7's environments. The combat is much more engaging - no more watching a tv show on the side while I button-mash another random encounter.

Many of the big story moments still hit and I found even more to love in the characters based on their performances going beyond text boxes and blocky animations. Even the music is just top-notch. The OST will be a mainstay in my playlist for years. It feels like I'm seeing the old game with fresh eyes and remembering why it made such an impact.

6. Atomic Heart

Atomic Heart is what you'd call a AA game - unlike a modern AAA game that tries to incorporate tons of elements into a single title, Atomic Heart maintains a narrower focus that allows it to refine its main mechanics. Resident Evil 8 is a more action-oriented game after its direct predecessor firmly returned the series back to its survival horror roots, but fortunately, it doesn't overindulge in action schlock.

This is still a very spooky, very tense Resident Evil that maintains an excellent balance between frantic combat encounters and quieter moments of exploration, set in often visually stunning environments that are excellently designed and featuring some of the best and most charismatic antagonists I have seen in any media in a while.

10. Elden Ring

The open world is stunning and incredibly diverse in its variety of visuals when it comes to areas and their themes. Not to mention that the map is absolutely huge. The more you traverse the world from zone to zone you can't help but be awed by something new, there's just always something new: a new piece of art, new architecture, a new monster.

The monster diversity is one thing, even tho it is very important but what stuns me the most is really the variety in the details of the world itself. You can't help but simply stop at times staring at an entrance to the castle or a statue beside a church or at the edge of a mountain.

The first installment of Devil May Cry was released back in 2001 on the PlayStation 2. Initially, the game was made from a canned Resident Evil 4 concept. At that time, no one would believe that Devil May Cry could become the standard for a new sub-genre of hack-and-slash action-adventure games.

Astral Chain’s great combat system is combined with interesting platforming, calm investigative activities, and clever puzzles. The pace of the game is not as fast as Devil May Cry V, however, due to all the exploration and RPG elements.

2 – God of War 3

God of War 3 is a fitting end to Kratos’ Olympus trilogy. It is not a perfect game overall, with some uneven storytelling here and there, however, the whole thing is still a fantastic package. The combat is stellar and bloodier than ever, along with some of the best-looking graphics on that the PS3 could muster.

The combo system is very good, with amazing combos that you will always feel completely in control of. With the ability to cancel out almost everything to go into a dodge or roll, the evade action is a huge part of the gameplay. With frantic combats against multiple enemies, epic boss fights and enhanced difficulty, God of War 3 is truly a great title that fans of Devil May Cry might enjoy.

The combat is just as responsive as ever with big, massive combos that you'll always feel completely in control of. You can cancel out of almost anything and go into a block or roll, making defensive maneuvers a strong (and very necessary) part of your arsenal.

1 – Bayonetta

The Bayonetta series was created by Platinum Games and is currently available on the Switch and Wii. Also directed by Devil May Cry’s director, Hideki Kamiya, the game is pretty much a revival of the Devil May Cry formula.

The combat system of Bayonetta is based on combos, which further separates into variations based on the weapon currently equipped. It is even smoother than Devil May Cry’s, as you can resume your combo out of a dodge. Combined that with the Wicked Weave finisher system, you would get a flawless series of dance-like attacks that ebb and flow like music. It is clear that Platinum Games has succeeded in creating an immersive combat system that’s more than the sum of its individual parts.

Santa Monica and Sony almost did not include both two main characters of God of War 2018 - Kratos and Atreus – in this game before it was released in 2018. Sounds pretty impossible right? How can a game be released without both two main characters?

Yet, director of this game Cory Barlog has just revealed some hilarious experience while creating God Of War in a public interview at Gamelab in Barcelona. There was some skepticism whether the fans would still love Kratos after all those years. At that moment, there were some developers who wanted the game to be more focusing on Greek mythology, so they wanted to remove Kratos and have a totally new main character for the game.

Cory Barlog insisted on keeping Kratos because he believed that a Kratos on the road to redemption would attract the fans. This new Kratos would leave behind the old him, and adopt a totally new version of himself. That was why we have Atreus in the game, as this character represents the conscience of Kratos.

But senior directors at Santa Monica wanted more from the son of Kratos. They did not want a useless and helpless NPC following the player around the game. Investing more into this character was actually more costly than Santa Monica had imagined in the first place, thus resulting in some struggles in the process of bringing this character into the game.

Thankfully, both main characters stayed with God of War, and the game was a big success.

Sword has been the main weapon of heroes and warriors for thousands of years. It represents power, protection, authority, strength, and courage. While it's no longer an effective weapon anymore, it still holds a very important part of our culture in folklores, legends, myths, and video games. 1.Keyblade - Kingdom Hearts

Keyblades are mysterious weapons in Kingdom Hearts that used by Sora, the main character, and other important characters. According to Tetsuya Nomura, the weapon was first a chainsaw-like weapon which was then changed.

The Keyblade is an important part of the Darkness and Light war. It is used the same way as a normal sword despite the fact that it is not sharp at all. It is a decent weapon, however, its main ability is to seal and open the barrier between worlds as well as to prevent the Heartless from harming the world's heart. Also, The Keyblade choose its owner and won't let other people wield it. The main condition that the owner must have are varied, but they always need to have an exceptionally strong heart to reach the full potential of the sword.

2.Lightsaber - Star Wars

The iconic sword in the Star Wars universe appeared all the way back in 1977 and appeared in every Star Wars movies and games since then. The blade of the Lightsaber is made of pure energy powered by a kyber crystal which can cut through everything. The Lightsaber is a weapon used by Jedi, the Sith, and other Force-users.

3.Soul Edge - SoulCalibur

Soul Edge was just a normal sword at first. However, after countless of times being bathed in blood and hatred, the sword started to has its own soul and become a demonic weapon. Anyone who wields it will be tempted with the desire to conquer and destroy. Algol, the one who forged this sword is the only person who is unaffected by the corruption from the sword. However, over time, the sword kept getting stronger and developed its own consciousness. It started to consume the soul of anyone who was killed by its blade and tried to break free.

Normal people will be consumed if they try to use Soul Edge. If a person is strong-willed enough to hold the sword, it will change its shape into a form which fits that person the most.

4.Frostmourne, World of Warcraft

Frostmourne was a runeblade belonged to Lich King, the master, and lord of the Scrouge. Lich King was a spirit created by Kil'jaeden the Deceiver from the soul of the orc shaman Ner'zhul to raise an undead army. Lich King spirit was contained inside the armor and the Frostmourne. Later on, the young prince Arthas Menethil found the sword and traded his soul for the power to defeat Mal'Ganis, which he did. Soon after that, Arthas lost the remaining of his soul and became the Lich King himself.

Arthas is able to wield Frostmourne easily despite its size and weight. The sword can cut through most opponents with little effort and will shatter most weapons that touch it. People who get killed by Frostmourne will have their soul drawn into the sword.

5.Masamune – Final Fantasy VII

There always has to be a slot on the list for this sword of Sephiroth, the Masamune. The Masamune is created based on the design of a Japanese odachi blade. It's a long, thin sword, matching the appearance of Sephiroth. The sword is about 2 meters long and has a slight curve. In the game, Sephiroth is known as the only one who is able to use it effectively, making it his signature weapon. The blade in the Sephiroth's hand can easily cut through structures and generate a thin blast wave that cut things from far away.

Sephiroth is the best SOLDIER of the Shinra Electric Power Company. With his own sword, he alone can comfortably fight at the same time against two other first-class SOLDIERS, Genesis and Angeal, who are also his best friends.

6.Buster Sword – Final Fantasy VII

Yet another sword from Final Fantasy 7, but this time, the sword belongs to the protagonist. The Buster Sword is a broadsword that is a little bit shorter than the Masamune while having an enormous width. Near the handguard of the sword, there are 2 holes which are the Materia slots.

The Buster Sword was used by Angeal Hewley and Zach Fair at first before Cloud owns it. As the default weapon of Cloud in Final Fantasy 7, the image of the sword has tied with Cloud ever since Final Fantasy 7 became a massive hit around the globe in 1997.

7.Rebellion - Devil May Cry

Rebellion is the primary weapon of Dante in the Devil May Cry series. It was passed on to him by his father Sparda, the Legendary Dark Knight. Unlike the Yamato, which can separate man from devil, the Rebellion can join the two forces together.

Rebellion is a powerful sword with outstanding durability. However, its true strength can only be awakened by Dante's blood while Dante is using his Devil Trigger. The sword will then turn into the Devil Sword Dante, allowing Dante to use both of his human and devil parts to the full potential.

8.Master Sword - Legend of Zelda

The Master Sword is also known as The Blade of Evil’s Bane. The sword can only be used by people who have gone through the trial of bravery to be worthy of it. While it doesn't have the most badass appearance, The Master Sword was bathed in the three Sacred Flames and gained the Power to Repel Evil. It can break through magic barriers, curses and can also banish the remains of a demon.

It is a very powerful weapon, however, if someone who is too weak tries to use the sword, they will lose their life.

9.Dagger of Time - Prince of Persia

If you have seen the movie or played the game, you will know that The Dagger of Time gives users the ability to alternate time at will, using the magical sand. Apart from the Hourglass, The Dagger of Time is the only thing that is strong enough to contain the Sands of Time. If a person uses the dagger to change the timeline, they are the only one who can remember the original timeline.

10.Blades of Chaos - God of War

The Blades of Chaos is the symbol and the traditional weapons of the God of War series. The Blade of Chaos are a pair of chained blades, forged in the Underworld by Ares, the God of War. Ares created the weapons for his servant, which is why the blades are permanently seared onto the arms of the user. The God of War is the only one who can remove it before the servitude time has ended.

"The Blades of Chaos, forged in the foulest depths of Hades. Once attached the blades remained so, chained and seared to the flesh, a part of the bearer's body. A permanent reminder of Kratos' pledge."

Kratos used to be the servant of Ares, which made him the wielder of The Blades of Chaos. Under the manipulation of Ares, Kratos used the weapons to kill his own family without knowing it. Later on, after he killed Ares and became the God of War himself, he swore to never use it again.

To celebrate God Of War on winning the 2018’s Game of the Year award. Sony, along with Santa Monica Studio has announced a full-length documentary on the development of the game titled “Raising Kratos”. Here is the announcement trailer:

"Raising Kratos" is going to have 400 hours of footages and 3 years under development. Not long after the trailer dropped, Barlog has tweeted about it. According to him, it should have been a teaser for an edition of God of War 3 on PS4. Here's the tweet in details:

About God of War franchise

The original game came out on PS2 in 2005. In between the release of two sequels after that, the series split up and took on 2 different platforms. However, the journey of Kratos is far from over. 2018’s God of War was considered a critical commercial success. It sold over 5 million copies in just a month and won many awards like Game of the Year, BAFTA Game Awards. Furthermore, critics gave it an overwhelmingly positive review, featuring a 10/10 from IGN.

Recently, Barlog did confirm that there won’t be any DLCs coming soon in the future. However, we are hoping that future sequels would carry on the elements that made God of War a masterful title of the generation. "Raising Kratos" will come out soon and we should be able to watch it for free on PlayStation’s Youtube channel.

God of War is having its first anniversary after one year. While fans are waiting for something new for the birthday event, director Cory Barlog said that there is no DLC (Downloadable content) for this celebration.

However, Developer Santa Monica from Sony has created other things for God of War's birthday.  Last Sunday, the studio posted a thank you letter on the Playstation blog to express their gratefulness to all players and fans for being a companion with Kratos and his son their journey. In addition, they hope fans will continue to support them in other products in the future. According to this post, a fantastic God of War Anniversary character PS4 avatar set is now available together with a PS4 dynamic theme. You can download them on PlayStation 4 regardless of whether you own the game or not.

Balrog also tweeted a short message saying "That's not all..." on Sunday, leading many fans to believe that the game is getting a DLC. However, he later clarified that there is no such intention to make sure that no one misunderstands his tweet.

He also explained that if the studio Santa Monica really creates something for this birthday, there will be information about it. Then, he changed the topic to the newest zombie game of Sony “Days Gone” which is going to be released on the end of April. We don’t know if there is a possibility that a crossover between the two games can happen. Kratos in a biker vest riding a motorcycle while killing the undead? Sounds pretty unlikely. But then again, weirder mixes have happened in the past.

Earlier this month, “God of war” won a total of 5 BAFTA awards and game of the year at the Game Developers Choice Awards in San Francisco. Before that, it was named Game of the Year at the 22nd annual DICE Awards in Las Vegas and took home eight other awards. Besides, 3.1 million copies of “God of War” were sold just three days after release, making it the fastest-selling PlayStation 4 video game at that time. Up to now, about five million copies were sold all over the world.

It’s undoubtedly that – God of War is a cracking game. The title draws so many people in as well as keeps them around because of the complex father/son relationship. Moreover, it’s also about the emotional in-game narrative that it brings upon.

The much-demanded DLC

Unfortunately, for fans of the game who don’t want to stop their adventure, it is disappointing to know that there won’t be any DLC soon. Cory Barlog, the director of God of War once mentioned during an interview about “a really fun idea” he has for a DLC. However, he later evaluated that idea to be “too ambitious” for a standalone chapter. Whenever we hear about God of War, we might have an idea about what is it about. However, what if the game is called “Dark Odyssey” or “At the Hands of the Gods”?

Imagine something else instead of God of War

You might be wondering why are we bringing this up. Well, in reality, both of those names could be the official name of the game, according to Cory Barlog and David Jaffe. On Twitter, Cory posted some studio notes showing that he initially told Steven Spielberg to change the title of Back to the Future to Space Man from Pluto!

David Jaffe quickly hopped into the tweet and shared that God of War initially had two other competing titles of “At the Hands of the Gods” and “Dark Odyssey” as well. Since they had no idea which one to choose, they put all three in a hat and randomly drew out one. As we all know now, God of War turned out to be an outstanding title.

Cory also joked that the title of his dream was actually “Angry Man from War Nation of Sparta”. We all know that Kratos is literally a guy with a bull’ temperament from “the Nation of Sparta”, but let’s just agree that God of War is a much better title, shall we?

God of War, a mythology-based title has been nominated for 10 categories in Bafta Game Award this year. Red Dead Redemption 2, Florence, an interactive story and video game, and Return of the Obra Dinn, ranks second with 6 nominations each.

Competing for the best game spot is Astro Bot: Rescue Mission, God of War, Return of the Obra Dinn, Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, and Red Dead Redemption 2. In 2018, an excellent adventure game called What Became of Edith Finch.

In this list of nomination, there are titles whose impact has gone beyond recreation. Some of them are 11-11 Memories Retold, Mt Child Lebensborn, and Celeste.

Mars - First son of Heaven - the God of War - has arrived and ready to join the battle of DOTA 2!

This is a durable, disabler, initiator, melee, and carry type of characters. He spent a life-long waging endless war and saw countless more crusades. Just like his father, Mars indulged his basest impulses - inclinations much more monstrous than those of Zeus. However, that day came on which the war for its own sake was no longer enough to satisfy Mars' desire. As the Fates would have it, his solution came easily: he must wage war for a bigger purpose, and inspire more than mere savagery and sorrow at the sight of his crest. He finally decided to impersonate his birthright, refute the pantheon of the old age, and head to the Ancients' battle.

Mars' Abilities

Spear of Mars

The first ability to be mentioned is the Spear of Mars. Throwing his mythical spear, Mars damages every enemy that the spear attacks. In addition, Once an impaled hero comes against a building, cliff, or tree, he will be skewered with it and blackout.

God Rebuke

Using his shield, Mars smashes his front enemies, hits them backward, and damages them with an integral strike based on the assault. Infused with True Strike, his attack boosts extra base damage while hitting heroes.

Bulwark

Bulwark is Mars' third ability. When get hit from the front or sides, Mars' massive shield is used to clog a part of every physical attack.

Arena of Blood

The last and the most calamitous ability of this God is none other than Arena of Blood. He recalls an arena infested with the Ash Legion's undead warriors, who block enemies' movement and attacks. Nearby enemy heroes will get attack by spears, causing damage and hitting them back.

Lacking a type of character

We need female figures who are older and more rugged in our video games, that is just a simple fact. Currently, we still have to ask ourselves the question that while it is acceptable and totally OK for a man to age and still keeps his coolness, in the meantime a woman who age is much more uncool and unattractive.

In our video games, we keep on embracing older men for their rough-edges appearance and tough manner. That model of leading man is what we have seen a lot recently. While I bet that you would notice sometime that in video games we lack the image of the older female leading character. In our culture, it has been deeply rooted that the older a woman gets the less relevance and importance she is. For example, we have a hugely successful game -  The Last of Us which was given tons of awards praises. In the game, we follow the journey of Joel, a rugged man in his 40s.

Another example is that of God of War 2018, in this game we have the main character is an older Kratos. Both of these characters are finding their ways to look for a father-hood of the second chance. They fight their way through intense combat, use may weapons to hook us on the game both conceptually and emotionally. Their stories are both epic and deeply compelling which make us care so much for them.

Joel and Kratos

In the word of The Last of Us, a post-apocalyptic America after a zombie outbreak, Joel is on his quest to find his lost daughter Sarah while escorting Ellie a young girl to a quarantine zone. We got we observe the heart-rending and emotional journey of Ellie and Joel while fighting the way through the infected. Over 20 years after the death of his daughter, Joel starts to feel his father instinct again thank for his time with Ellie. The most meaningful moment is when he risks the possibility to save humankind by not letting Ellie die to develop a cure. This action may be questionable, but watching his growth and his emotion is what make the story so great.

In the meanwhile, in God of War - 2018, after many years of seeking revenge for his family from Greek gods, this game is a new beginning for Kratos. He is an older Kratos with his son Atreus, they set on a journey to fulfill the wish of his past wife Faye. In this version, we got to see a more vulnerable and flawed Kratos when he is learning on becoming a father. In the same time, he also needs to learn to accept the death of Atreus mother and his wife Faye. After being a killing machine on all the previous games in the franchise, it is really interesting to see a new level of depth and nuance in character development.

Female characters

In a few years back, we are very lucky to have some awesome, hardcore female protagonists in video games. From Horizon Zero Dawn we have Aloy, Clementine coming from The Walking Dead and we also need to include Lara Croft. These female leading characters are usually naïve, young and on their journey of self-discovery and survival. Through their games, we got to see their adventures and evolution to grow and become full-pledge strong women.

It is kind of nice to see video game female characters who aren't overly objectified and sexualized. In these games, they are the main character with a meaningful back story,  not just single-dimension plot devices for men. They have their nuance, characterization, and depth. But still, there is still a very big hole in video games when talking about women's portrayal, especially for older women who are much less presented in video games. Nowadays, usually female characters just play a small role or just a part of a group in video games. They are presented in supporting roles with an impotent, helpless image such as mother, grandmother or even worst haggish menacing characters.

I noticed that it is a huge unbalanced age and gender parity in games. It seems like that older female is receiving leading character treatment. Age comes with wisdom and experience they say. Therefore, I think that it is interesting to see wiser, more powerful, older female in a leading role in the game. Just like in The Last of us and God of War where they exploiting the father-child relationship, I think they could do the same with the mother figure. An older female character with wrinkles and lines who is both competent and experienced will be an amazing seed to build up an interesting narrative.

The game gave us a chance to step into the shoes of an older woman with a stoic personality. Sonya didn't change her surname name after her estranged husband Johnny Cage. She is very far away from the image of a domestic trophy wife. She has a certain level of vulnerability and humanity because she calls her Sergent daughter Cassie.

Likewise in Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception we also have the character of Katherine Marlowe. Need to do more for female figures

We the people in the video games industry, I am talking about everyone: developers, publishers, Players ... There are still lots to do to better promote age and gender diversity in our games. We need much more whether straight, queer, old, young there are still many places for female figures in games.
