1. ONE PIECE Bounty Rush

Engage in 4-on-4 real-time battles on the vast world of One Piece. The game features 3D graphics that stay true to the anime. Assemble your team by collecting your favourite characters, such as Roronoa Zoro, Monkey D. Luffy, Niko Robin, Shanks the Red, and Portgas D. Ace, to name a few, who fall under one of five classes: warriors, shooters, supports, swordsmen, and fighters.

The objective is straightforward: conquer all of your enemies and, just like any good pirate, obtain the greatest hoard of Berrys. You also have the option to play cooperatively with your nakamas.

2. One Punch Man: Road to Hero 2.0

If you're not up for following Saitama's intense training, you can still experience his world by playing One Punch Man: Road to Hero 2.0 on your smartphone. In this game, you'll confront unprecedented threats and have to gather the best heroes from the One Punch Man universe to combat them.

3. My Hero Academia: The Strongest Hero

The next game on our list of top anime mobile games is My Hero Academia: The Strongest Hero, which takes the third spot. This action-packed role-playing game immerses you in the world of the anime and lets you play as your favourite heroes such as Izuku Midoriya, Ochaco Uraraka, and All Might, among many others. Additionally, you can even play as the villains!

To access these characters, you must summon them successfully, and while there are some gacha mechanics in the game, it's an excellent opportunity to acquire numerous characters as the My Hero Academia manga has no shortage of them.

The Strongest Hero is a faithful adaptation of the anime that takes place in an open world. Here, you can complete various quests, fight against other players, join an alliance, and engage in ultra combat battles.

Each fighter has unique basic and special moves, and the gameplay varies according to the heroes, such as multiple quick hits or long-range attacks. The story mode benefits from cinematic scenes and images from the anime, and the 3D graphics are visually appealing.

4. Dragon Ball Legends

The fourth game on our list of top anime mobile games is Dragon Ball Legends, which allows you to relive the iconic anime and awaken your inner Super Saiyan. The game starts with Shallot, a Saiyan from the past created by Akira Toriyama.

The game features an original story divided into multiple missions, and all the beloved fighters from Dragon Ball are included in the game. You can play with Son Goku, Vegeta, Broly, Trunks, and more. Moreover, some characters from Dragon Ball Super are also available, such as Goku Black, Vegeta Super Saiyan, and Zamasu, making a total of fifty characters that you can potentially unlock.

The game boasts superb 3D graphics that perfectly capture the essence of the anime series. Dragon Ball Legends offers the perfect opportunity to engage in fast-paced, smartphone-friendly combat. You can challenge players from all over the world with a full PVP mode and enjoy regular events.

5. Naruto X Boruto Ninja Voltage

Naruto X Boruto Ninja Voltage immerses you in the world of ninjas based on the Naruto Shippuden and Boruto mangas. The mobile game features many fighters from these anime, and you can attempt to summon them. Besides the gacha mechanics, the game emphasizes combat. You can join a shinobi guild to team up and defeat powerful bosses or take over other players' fortresses.

The game lets you form a clan to collect your favourite shinobis such as Naruto, Boruto, and Sakura. You can enhance them, design your fortress, and protect it. Additionally, you can place traps and defenses strategically in your village to prevent other players from invading.

6. Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Links

Let's move on to a d-duel with Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Links. The mobile game is based on Kazuki Takahashi's manga series and offers a free-to-play model centered on card games. Even if you're not familiar with the anime, you can still enjoy the strategy games as the rules are simplified and more accessible. For instance, life points are limited to 4000 instead of 8000 to make the games faster.

The game offers many cards that retain their effects, providing ample material to build a variety of decks. It also guides new players through the mechanics, offering objectives to complete and unlocking new characters to face. All the crucial aspects of the series are present. Additionally, the game is generous, providing regular resources to obtain new cards and progress without requiring payment. However, new players to the series may find it difficult to comprehend at first.

7. Bleach Brave Souls

Bleach Brave Souls is a mobile game based on the popular anime and manga series, Bleach. The game is a free-to-play action-packed RPG that lets you take on the role of your favorite Bleach characters and battle against other players in intense 3D battles.

The gameplay involves building a team of three characters and using their unique abilities and special moves to defeat enemies. The game features a large cast of characters from the Bleach universe, allowing players to choose from a wide variety of heroes and villains.

In addition to the story mode, which follows the events of the anime and manga, Bleach Brave Souls also features a co-op mode where you can team up with other players to take on challenging quests and boss battles. The game also regularly updates with new content, including new characters and events.

Overall, Bleach Brave Souls is a must-play for fans of the series and a great introduction for newcomers to the world of Bleach. With its engaging gameplay, stunning visuals, and faithful adaptation of the source material, it's easy to see why this game has such a dedicated fanbase.

8. The Seven Deadly Sins: Grand Cross

Ranking at number eight in our list of top iOS and Android manga games is The Seven Deadly Sins: Grand Cross, an RPG developed by Netmarble that flawlessly captures the essence of the anime. In this game, you get to experience the journey of Meliodas and Elisabeth as they search for the Seven Deadly Sins, with gorgeous cinematics featuring Japanese voice acting from the anime.

The Seven Deadly Sins: Grand Cross

The game boasts stunning graphics and a high-quality free-to-play experience, despite featuring gacha mechanics. The gameplay involves turn-based combat with a 3 vs 3 format, where a substitute is available if one of your characters dies.

The combat system is quite unique, as you can combine cards to unleash special moves that allow you to defeat your enemies in style, giving you the freedom to develop your own strategic approach. You can also team up with your friends in confrontations, challenge players from all over the world in PVP arenas, customise your characters and more.

9. Fate/Grand Order

Fate/Grand Order is a mobile RPG based on the popular Fate anime. The game involves collecting characters from the series and battling against enemies in story mode or online PvP. Although it follows the standard gacha mechanics, it's quite friendly to free-to-play players, and most characters are fully voiced, which adds to the experience.

Fate/Grand Order

However, like other gacha games, there is a significant amount of grinding involved, and some of the dialogue can be cheesy. But this is typical of the Fate series, and the game's landscape mode is a plus, providing more space for gameplay.

10. Konosuba: Fantastic Days

Konosuba: Fantastic Days is a mobile RPG based on the popular Konosuba anime series. In the game, players can collect and control characters from the anime and use them to battle against enemies.

Wallpaper Konosuba
Konosuba: Fantastic Days

The graphics in Konosuba Fantastic Days are typical for mobile games of its kind, but the game is improved by its anime-style cutscenes that make the experience more exciting and connected to the anime series.

The gameplay is similar to other gacha games, but with its own twist. The combat is in real-time, with each character having three skills and a Super. Skills can be used anytime as long as they are not on cooldown, while the Super takes some time to charge. The combat also incorporates the quirks of each character, such as Darkness's tendency to miss, which is a delight for fans, but new players may find it confusing.

The story is solid and starts with a surprise as the gang reminisces about old times before jumping into their usual hijinks. The tutorial on combat mechanics follows as the gang tries to save Aqua from a giant frog.

3. Dragon Blox Ultimate

Dragon Blox Ultimate (formerly Dragon Ball Ultimate, and abbreviated to DBU) is a Roblox game based on Akira Toriyama's Dragon Ball franchise. Unlike other Roblox anime games on this list, Dragon Blox Ultimate solely focuses on the Dragon Ball series only.

It is an online fighting game that allows you to create your own original DBZ character. Afterward, go on an adventure to get stronger and interact with various characters in the Dragon Balls universe. Challenge your friends and fight your enemies in order to become the best fighter ever.

The best part about Blox Fruits is that the game is mostly PvE. You usually fight in dungeons and challenge dangerous enemies and bosses. You will never have to fight another player if you don't want to PvP. This kind of gameplay is similar to many anime games for Androids.

If you are a fan of anime, it is very likely that you have watched one of the shows whose spinoffs are on this list. Check this post to find out more.]]>

Anime games or anime-style games are getting more and more popular all around the world. Their best-selling feature is the franchises themselves - any anime fan would like to play games based on their favorite series. This formula is so successful that in some cases, they have even beaten back big names like PUBG Mobile and Free Fire for the top spot in revenue. In this article, we are going to showcase the top 10 best anime games for Android in 2021.

All the games on this list are f2p online-only, with gacha mechanics. There are no anime games for android offline to be found, as people just don't make them in this format. Offline anime games are usually only on PC and Console.

Table of Contents

  • 1. Fate Grand Order
  • 2. Bleach Brave Souls
  • 3. DanMachi: Memoria Freese
  • 4. Dragon Balls Legends
  • 5. One Piece Treasure Cruise
  • 6. Sword Art Online: Memory Defrag
  • 7. The Seven Deadly Sins: Grand Cross
  • 8. Honkai Impact 3rd
  • 9. Azur Lane
  • 10. Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Links

1. Fate Grand Order

The Fate franchise is one of the biggest anime franchises ever, and their gacha-based mobile game, Fate Grand Order (FGO), has been running since 2015. The strength of FGO is its story - the majority of it was written by Nasu, the creator of the Fate franchise himself. This is pretty rare among anime based-games.

Fate Grand Order's gameplay, however, is rather tedious. It is turn-based without auto and the grind would consume a lot of your precious time. However, FGO is still worth playing for the story alone, which is one of the best ever created in mobile gaming.

However, if you want to enjoy the story without having to play the game, a quick YouTube search for a playlist is probably the best thing to do.

Fate Grand Order
Fate Grand Order has one of the best stories ever created amongst anime games for Android.

2. Bleach Brave Souls

Bleach Brave Souls (BBS) is the game spin-off of Bleach, one of the most popular manga/anime ever created. Similar to FGO or Genshin, it is also a gacha-style game in which you summon various characters from the Bleach universe, complete an original story, and engage in PVP with other players.

Similar to FGO, both the story and character designs in Bleach Brave Souls are based on novels written by the author of the series. If you want to know what happens next in Bleach or various side stories of the franchise, checking out BBS is a must.

Gameplay-wise, BBS has good 3D graphics and simple controls for free-flowing and fast-paced hack-and-slash action. Players can play in single-player mode or team up with three other players for online co-op. The graphics are pretty average - even a low-tier mobile phone could run it.

Bleach Brave Souls
Bleach Brave Souls' alternative character designs are probably the best part of the game.

3. DanMachi: Memoria Freese

DanMachi: Memoria Freese is a spinoff of the anime "Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon?". Obnoxious anime name aside, Memoria Freese is actually a pretty good game. Similar to the first two, it is a gacha game with characters from the anime, alongside RPG elements, dungeon crawling and online PVP.

It has the same strength that the above 2 have as well, with the story of the game written by series creator Fujino Ōmori. Adding the new characters and costume designs on top of that... and fans of the series would find themselves at home playing Memoria Freese.

Gameplay-wise, Memoria Freese is a turn based game in which you create your own tactical team with your favorite characters and engage enemies in classic JRPG style.

Danmachi
Memoria Freese's story is definitely worth following if you are a fan of the series.

4. Dragon Balls Legends

If you are a fan of anime, you probably have heard of Dragon Balls. There have been many spin-off mobile games for this franchise, but Dragon Balls Legends is probably the best of the bunch. It is a fighter game with light RPG, adventure, and gacha elements. Unlike the usual fighting games, however, combat in DBL is fairly simple to grasp: it is only a series of simple taps and swipes.

While the story is not the best part of this game, it did recreate the world of Dragon Balls pretty faithfully. Dragon Balls Legends has iconic characters designs and stages based on famous locations in the anime. You can summon almost all of your favorite characters from popular DRAGON BALL anime series, such as DBZ, DBGT, to DBS. From popular heroes such as Goku, Gohan, Piccolo, Tien, and Krillin, to evil villains such as Frieza, Cell, and Majin Buu... this game has them all.

Dragon Ball Legends
Dragon Ball Legends is one of the few fighting games for Android.

5. One Piece Treasure Cruise

One Piece is the longest manga/anime ever created, with the series still ongoing. One Piece Treasure Cruise is probably its most successful mobile spinoff - the game has been running for years, with a roster that features over 2000 characters. This is one of the biggest gacha pools ever created. If you are a fan of the series and want to play your favorite characters, this game can definitely keep your attention for a while.

OPTC's gameplay is the usual turn-based JRPG combat, which is moderately enjoyable to casual and hardcore players alike. The single-player section takes you through the ONE PIECE storyline from its very beginning through all the hit series’ arcs.

One Piece Treasure Cruise
One Piece Treasure Cruise has the highest number of playable characters amongst anime games for Android.

6. Sword Art Online: Memory Defrag

Sword Art Online: Memory Defrag is a spinoff mobile game based on the popular anime series of the same name. It features a lot of elements from the show itself, including hack and slash action RPG, online PVP, and an engaging story mode.

And similar to the previous games on this list, it is also a gacha in which you collect various characters from the show and upgrade them. While Memory Defrag is not very special or original, it is still a very decent game.

Sword Art Online: Memory Defrag
Sword Art Online: Memory Defrag is fairly faithful to the original anime.

7. The Seven Deadly Sins: Grand Cross

A turn based RPG with gacha elements based on the Seven Deadly Sins anime. Overall, the game is fairly decent, with dynamic combat and breathtaking animations faithful to the anime. Outside of story mode, most of the game is focused on Co-op and PVP, with an arena mode where you can fight other people all over the world.

Grand Cross' character and world design are fairly decent - you would have a good time beating the story and enjoy the characters from the series.

The Seven Deadly Sins: Grand Cross
The Seven Deadly Sins: Grand Cross has a decent PVP mode amongst anime games for Android.

8. Honkai Impact 3rd

Unlike the other anime games on Android devices, Honkai Impact started as a game and eventually get an anime adaptation. Its gameplay is a prototype version of Genshin Impact, miHoYo's world-famous game, with the main focus on ARPG elements. The two games are very similar overall - Honkai is one of the best games like Genshin Impact.

However, unlike Genshin Impact, Honkai is not an open world game. Honkai players explore various stages with monsters spawning periodically - it gets right to the action and skips the tedious exploration part. During battle, players may freely move their character around the battlefield and switch between their three deployed Valkyries to adapt to various enemy types. Each Valkyrie has unique attack, evasion, switch, and ultimate skills, as well as a rock-paper-scissors-based character type to fulfill different team roles.

Honkai Impact
Honkai Impact's gameplay is great if you like Genshin.

9. Azur Lane

Similar to Honkai, Azur Lane comes out as a game first then eventually gets an anime spin-off. Overall, it is a bullet-hell style game, with you controlling characters weaving through clouds of attacks and destroy the objective. The characters in this game are anthropomorphic girls based on WW2 warships. Most of the activities in the game can be auto so that you won't have to spend much time grinding, which is something normal games don't have.

Similar to the rest of the games on this list, Azur Lane is a gacha. However, it is probably the most f2p friendly amongst anime games for Android.

Azur Lane
Azur Lane is the most generous in gacha currency amongst the games on this list.

10. Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Links

Unlike other games on this list which mostly use the RPG turn based format, Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Links is a card game, which is a completely different genre altogether. Players will be able to build their deck with cards from the real Yu-Gi-Oh game and duel with other players and AI.

The best part about Duel Links is that their gameplay is actually fun and fresh, even with long time fans of the series. While the cards are the same, players have to play in a different format, which requires completely different strategies altogether.

Yu-Gi-Oh! as a game is pretty hard to get into, but Duel Links changes this. The tutorial part of Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Links is probably the best, with a lot of supporting features for beginners. From Duel Quizzes to learn the basic rules to Auto-Build Deck and even Auto-Duel so that you can understand how your deck should work.

Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Links
Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Links actually gains a fanbase separated from the real-life card game.

Coming from developer Crunchyroll Games, Mob Psycho 100: Psychic Battle is a new turn-based RPG that’s based on the first 2 seasons of the anime Mob Psycho 100. The series – which in turn was based on a 2012 manga – kicked off back in 2016 and has since then gained massive fame. The game, meanwhile, is now available for both Android and iOS. Check out its trailer below:

As is common for games using assets from popular franchises, Mob Psycho 100: Psychic Battle will reunite the players with plenty of characters from the show. At present, there are more than 80 characters that you can recruit to your team to bring into 5v5 battles. The original voice actors also return to reprise their respective roles here too, which hopefully will add to the authenticity of the game.

The popular Netflix anime Aggretsuko is now available for iOS as an interactive game via MomentSQ, a new app that offers various stories both original and based on famous franchises.]]>

AVM Lab has just launched an intriguing app called MomentSQ. It's kind of like an on-demand story platform with which users can enjoy various interactive stories at any time. The service is already available for iOS right now with an Android version set to come later. To kick off, it is offering a game based on Aggretsuko, a popular anime on Netflix.

Momentsq Ios Android Featured 0be6_wm
MomentSQ is offering the popular Netflix anime Aggretsuko as an interactive game

The game is presented in the form of an instant message app, where you join a group chat with Retsuko – a red panda who loves death metal music – and all her friends. You will “chat” with them by picking from the various options that the game gives you.

Needless to say, different things you choose to say will lead to different outcomes, so basically it’s a decide-your-own-adventure type of game. Your ultimate goal is to build a good relationship with all the animals in the chat and become an important part of the group.

The first episode of Aggretsuko will be free, but subsequent ones after that – which will launch on a weekly basis – will require you to pay to play. It’s worth noting that you won’t directly be paying cash for these episodes. Instead, you need to purchase diamonds, MomentSQ’s premium currency, and then spend them to unlock the rest of the story.  Diamonds are offered in different bundles, ranging from £0.99 (Rs 90) for 10 diamonds to £48.99 (Rs 4500) for 650.

Fist of the North Star: Legends REVIVE is a new mobile game based on the classic anime Fist of the North Star. It is now available for both Android and iOS.]]>

Back in June we reported on Fist of the North Star: Legends REVIVE when it was open for pre-registration, and now the game has finally arrived, marking the very first time there's been an English version of a game based on Fist of the North Star on mobile. You can download it right now from both Google Play and the App Store, but there are apparently some server issues going on at the moment, so it might be worth waiting for things to get sorted out first.

Fist of the North Star: Legends REVIVE Trailer

Anyway, similar to the vast majority of anime-based games on mobile, Legends REVIVE will be a turn-based battler in which you and your opponent take turns to choose the attack you want to perform. Still, timing does play a bigger part here compared to the traditional turn-based experience: If you can tap on the screen at the opportune moment, you will be able to unlock powerful secret techniques.

If you time it right, you can unleash powerful secret techniques

The story, meanwhile, will follow that of the original manga starting from the very beginning. As such, veteran fans are in for some heartwarming memory trips, while newcomers won't feel lost wondering who is who. The game also features a massive roster consisting of characters coming from both the Nanto and Hokuto schools, as well as tons of supporting characters. Of course, that means gacha will be a factor here, so expect some of them to be locked behind a paywall.

Fist Of North Star Character
The game features a massive roster of characters

That is the main concern we have about this game: how far it’ll lean towards trying to get players to pay real cash. Nothing is more frustrating than when you find a title with incredibly fun gameplay yet cannot progress as the developer just want to squeeze out some money from your wallet. Hopefully, that won’t be the case here.

Naruto X Boruto Ninja Tribes is a newly-announced team-based battle game for mobile made based on the popular anime Naruto. It'll be available on Android and iOS at launch.]]>

This August has been a pretty big month for mobile games made based on popular anime series. Just last week we got the announcement of Attack On Titan Tactics as well as One Punch Man: Road to Hero. Now, a new game set in the Naruto universe titled Naruto X Boruto Ninja Tribes is joining the fray.

Made as a result of a partnership between developer Crunchyroll and publisher Bandai Namco, this is a team-based battle game in which players can form a team of 3 heroes to duke it out against one another across various iconic locations in the Naruto world. Check out its trailer below:

As you can probably tell from the title, Naruto X Boruto Ninja Tribes will feature characters from both Naruto and Boruto. Aside from the titular father-son duo, expect to be reunited with familiar faces such as Sasuke, Sakura, Sarada, and Mitsuki as well.

Many familiar characters will be present

Not a lot of details about the gameplay is available just yet, but Crunchyroll has announced that it plans to show some footage at its own event in San Jose this Friday, so we will probably find out more then. From what we know so far, though, the game will include combination attacks that will be unique to each duo or trio, which is certainly an exciting prospect. We might get to see Naruto and Boruto join hands to unleash a giant Rasengan as in the anime, or the OG Team 7 trio teaming up for some awesome stuff. The possibilities are endless, but we’ll have to wait and see how many characters actually make it to the final game.

We might get to see this in the game. How cool would that be?

Naruto X Boruto Ninja Tribes will be available for both Android and iOS at launch, although no specific release date is confirmed at the moment. Of course, we will keep you updated as soon as there is more information, so don’t forget to stay tuned.

One Punch Man: Road To Hero, a new mobile game based on the popular anime series One Punch Man, has just been released on the App Store with an Android version expected to follow soon.]]>

Just yesterday, we reported on the English trailer of Attack On Titan TACTICS – a base defense game based on Attack on Titan. Now, developer Oasis Games has also launched One Punch Man: Road To Hero on the App Store, continuing the trend of releasing mobile games based on popular anime series.

The game was originally announced back in June alongside a pre-registration campaign, which according to the developer attracted over 200,000 participants. Back then, though, the release date was listed as September 16th, so the launch today came as somewhat of a surprise to it. Maybe that was only a placeholder date, or maybe Oasis wrapped up the game a bit earlier than expected. Whatever the case might be, One Punch Man: Road To Hero is now available on the App Store for iOS users, with an Android version promised to arrive in the near future. Check out the trailer for the game below:

As you can expect from a game made with assets from a popular IP, there is quite a lot of fan service here. One Punch Man: Road To Hero is made in partnership with original series creator Isamu Tsukuru aka ONE, featuring the original art from Yusuke Murata himself. Many voice actors from the anime also make a return as well.

You'll get to meet many familiar characters from the anime

And of course, you will be able to recruit over 50 familiar characters to form the best team possible and engage in thrilling battles against powerful mysterious beings such as Deep Sea King, Lord Boros, or Vaccine Man. One thing to note is that protagonist Saitama is actually not a playable character in this game, which is a bit unfortunate but does make sense if you think about it. After all, the character is just too overpowered.  You will be able to call upon his help during tough battles, though, so that’s something.

If you’re a fan of One Punch Man, then One Punch Man: Road To Hero might be worth checking out. It doesn’t cost you anything anyway, so head over to the App Store to pick it up right now.
