Board games have been getting more and more popular in recent years. While the social factors are part of their success, getting a group of people together to play is super hard sometimes. This is where digital multiplayer board games android comes in. In this article, we would list out some of the best board games that are available on Android.
It is best to start with one of the classics games in the genre: Ticket to Ride. In this game, players would step into the roles of railroad tycoons, building rails across the USA. While the objective of the game is pretty simple – to get the highest score, players must also complete various bonus objectives to gain extra points. There is a decent variety of maps available in-game, including Europe, India, Switzerland, and more… There is also a kid version of the game called Ticket to Ride: The First Journey.
Set in the Italian Renaissance, in this game, you would have to buy jewels with jewels to make a profit and buy more jewels… with the person earning the most money at the end becoming the winner. The game is based on actual historical events that happened during the 15 and 16th century Jewellery Merchants. The game has robust mechanics with no singular ways to win – you can experiment and try out multiple methods – the digital version of the game also comes with a new challenge mode with extra puzzles added to the usual mechanics.
Another classic board game that has been ported into digital – in Carcassonne, players would set tiles and build medieval castles, roads, and buildings to earn victory points. Due to the fact that Carcassonne used to be a gateway game that introduces people to board games, it is really easy to learn and play. The game also has a decent number of expansions that add new gameplay elements to the tiles such as rivers… along with yet another layer of rules to add extra challenges. The android version of the game also has updated graphics.
If you want to get away from the usual business theme of board games, then this space-themed game Galaxy Trucker would be something you need to play. The core part of the gameplay is to build your own spaceship using the given components and within the time limit. Afterward, players would travel the galaxy, bracing space pirate attacks, and meteor storms. Only by building your spaceship correctly would you be able to survive the ordeal. The building part of the game encourages creativity, which is something a lot of board games lack. A lot of people actually play the game for the spaceship designing aspect alone - it is super fun to play.

The game is pretty competitive and fast-paced, with 4 players controlling 4 armies and battle for survival. Each faction in the game has their own unique powers that can be fitted to different types of gameplay, with expansions adding more to the mix. Gameplay involving players drawing units to protect their base and attack their enemies – the team with headquarter taking the least damage is the winner. If you are a fan of the post-apocalyptic settings, this game is definitely worth a try.
Another Wild West-themed board game – but this time you are not a tycoon… you would be the opposite of that, a Wild West outlaw. In this game, players would plan out their train robbery step by step, secretly from each other – with the one managed to complete the objective become the winner. A lot of things can go wrong – a player can plan to attack another player to steal their money, only to be baited with a sheriff chase instead. The digital version of Colt Express also comes with a Story Mode for each playable character, each with their own unique objectives. The one with the highest money made at the end of the game is the winner.
One of the first games that were created through crowdfunding on Kickstarter, this board game took over the internet by storm at the time of release. The best part of the game is its comedic art style, its Russian roulette random gameplay, and kittens. The digital version is pretty faithful to the physical – but with even more new exclusive kittens and powers. Exploding Kittens has maintained a healthy player base and even has a matchmaking system in which you can challenge your previous opponent again after the initial match.

]]>Terraforming Mars started out as a physical board game and recently got a digital version for PC. Now, it has also made its way over to Google Play and the App Store, allowing you to help humanity prosper on Mars anywhere, anytime you want with your Android/iOS device.
This mobile version comes as a courtesy of Asmodee Digital, whose name you might find familiar as it has been responsible for many other digital board game releases in the past such as Zombicide or Gloomhaven. As always, the studio strives to recreate as faithful of an experience as possible, but the user interface has been redesigned to better fit the touchscreen.
In terms of the gameplay, Terraforming Mars is a turn-based strategy game where you place down several cards on the field every turn to achieve certain goals. These can range from getting a high Terraform rating to constructing infrastructures, and upon completing any of those things, you’ll get Victory Points. However, there will also be other corporations that will attempt to prevent you from achieving these goals. For example, they might put an asteroid into your new forest to destroy it.
Of course, you can do the same to them as well, so essentially the entire game boils down to finding a balance between trying to get Victory Points for yourself while at the same time hinder your opponents.
The game also offers several different modes with some alternate rulesets. For instance, the Corporate Era ruleset adds some new cards. While these don’t help with the terraforming or contribute to your Victory Points, they do offer more choices and thus more strategic depths.
You can choose against AI or up to 5 other players via online multiplayer and the game also supports cross-platform plays.
Terraforming Mars is currently up on both Google Play and the App Store as a premium app priced at £6.99 (Rs 650) and £8.99 (Rs 850) respectively.
]]>From Australian-based studio Updog Games, we have the upcoming title of Space Traitors. You can think of this as a digital board game in which you’ll have to sit down with a group of friends, but all actions are performed through your phones. This means all the decisions you make will not be visible to others, and all players will watch the events play out via a shared PC screen. The game is set to make its way to the Google Play Store in the near future, check out its trailer below:
Space Traitors is a game for 2-4 players, who will become the remnants of a robot crew on an abandoned spaceship. At first, the goal is to progress from room to room solving various challenges to collect machine parts in order to fix the damaged escape pods.
However, as the ship has been left unattended for so long, the AI of the ship has become corrupted. It's now trying to find a new best friend and thus will attempt to turn one of the players against the others. As the game goes on, the AI’s power will grow until it reaches a point where it’s strong enough to turn a player into a traitor, whose task is then to destroy everyone else to become the only robot left.
With such a premise, it’s a brilliant decision by the developer to have the phones act as controllers. If you get turned into the traitor, the AI will deliver information directly to your phone, so your friends won’t have a clue. This means you’ll be able to plan your betrayal in secret.
Space Traitors is announced to be coming to Google Play in the near future, though no exact release date has been confirmed at the moment. Stay tuned for more updates.
]]>We have probably all played MONOPOLY at least once at some point in our lives, as it is one of the most popular board games to have ever existed. Now, it is getting a digital adaptation, which is set to hit Android and iOS later this year. The news came during the Brand Licensing Europe event that took place yesterday. Hasbro, the toy company behind the board game, has confirmed that this mobile port is being handled by Marmalade Game Studios. If that name sounds familiar to you, that's because this studio has previously worked on many other titles including The Game of Life, CLUEDO, and the BATTLESHIP games.
In addition to the classic mode, this mobile version of MONOPOLY will also include a hyper mode that increases the pace of the game to make it more suitable for on-the-go play. Moreover, you can also add multiple customized house rules at once, meaning you’ll be able to play MONOPOLY just the way you want to.
A press release for the game also claims that it aims to “bring board game fun to everyone” and thus will offer a way to compete against players from all over the globe. This might imply that an online multiplayer mode will be present, but since the wording here is rather unclear, we can’t say anything for certain just yet.
What we do know for a fact, though, is that MONOPOLY mobile will be a premium app, just like many other board game adaptations from Marmalade Game Studios in the past. We might even get to see DLCs or expansions in the future. As for the release date, all we know at this point is that the game will be available later this year. Considering Marmalade’s reputation, we have very high hope for this one and will definitely be keeping a close eye on it in the coming months, so do stay tuned for more updates!
]]>Game developer and publisher Dire Wolf Digital was reportedly developing a few digital adaptations of board games, including Wings of Glory and Mage Knight. The award-winning title Raiders of the North Sea is one of the aforementioned titles, and it's coming to Steam, Nintendo Switch, Google Play and Apple Store next Tuesday, on July 30!
As a matter of fact, Raiders of the North Sea is the second installment in a Viking-themed trilogy. The game is actually a worker-placement title where players will need to build up resources and acquire crew cards in order to face bigger challenges. You will be awarded points towards the progress, and the one holding the biggest point pool will be crowned as the champion.
The game offers a multiplayer mode where you can either enjoy with your friends simultaneously or asynchronously, along with a cross-platform feature between Android, iOS, Switch, and PC. At the moment, a game can only has up to 4 players, but the physical version of Raiders of the North Sea did get an expansion that brings the number of maximum players to 5, so maybe we'll get something similar with the digital port in the future.
Below is a short teaser for you to get a quick look at Raiders of the North Sea:
To keep players' interest in the game, Dire Wolf has added some new features besides the main campaign, including upgradable boats, a 10-game campaign in the North Sea to explore, or singleplayer battles against AI combatants. With a turn-based gameplay, you are totally free to set your own pace while experiencing the world of Raiders of the North Sea. The game is even easier to approach thanks to an in-game tutorial mode.

]]>If you have not heard of Gloomhaven, it is regarded by many as one of the best board games ever made. Originally released in 2017, it quickly became the top ranked game on the respected board game website Board Game Geek and stayed there for much of the following year. If you have not had the chance to try it out yet, it’s going to be much easier for you to do so, as a digital adaptation of the game is set to enter Early Access on Steam this month, courtesy of video game developer Asmodee Digital.
Asmodee has had many quality digital ports of acclaimed board games to its name in the past, several of which we’ve reported on before such as Talisman: Origins or Zombicide: Tactics & Shotguns. As a result, this upcoming release seems like it’s in good hands. Check out its trailer below:
In term of gameplay, Gloomhaven is a combination of between tactical RPG, dungeon crawling, and deck-building. You’ll pick from 17 available characters to progress through the story, fighting multiple types of enemies and uncovering a world-changing plot in the process.
Perhaps the most notable change that Gloomhaven brings to the traditional dungeon-crawling formula, however, is that it removes luck entirely out of the equation. Normally in dungeon crawlers, most actions demand that you roll a dice to determine the outcome. Gloomhaven, meanwhile, allowing you to create your own deck of cards with many useful abilities. Thus, you’ll have to rely on tactics to overcome the various challenges that the game throws at you.
This digital adaptation will also feature a roguelike mode. Further details about this mode are currently unclear, but it’s certainly intriguing to see what modifications the developer will make to the gameplay to turn it into a roguelike experience. Furthermore, the team also promises that it’ll add lots of new content such as new characters, enemies, and more over the early access period.
Gloomhaven launches in early access on Steam on July 17.
]]>Asmodee Digital has just launched a new installment in the Talisman board game universe, which is a solo-exclusive experience. The game is titled Talisman: Origins, and it aims to offer players a chance to explore the history of the Talisman universe, as well as several the elements from the DLCs of the original game. Check out its trailer below:
The trailer doesn’t really offer too much insight into what players can expect in term of gameplay. However, the description on the Play Store does reveal a few details. The gameplay will focus on solo play as you control your character to move across the board and complete various quests.
That said, Talisman: Origins will still follow the rules of the board game’s Revised 4th Edition. You'll have 12 unique characters to choose from, each of whom comes with his/her own skill set. There are also 20 adventures that you can play through, and in some of them you even have the chance to play as the villain. If you are unfamiliar with the board game, this digital version has a tutorial at the beginning to help you get a grasp of how things work as well.
Talisman: Origins is currently available on Google Play for $3.49 (Rs 275), which is a pretty decent deal considering that the Steam version costs twice as much. Of course, being a premium release, there is no ad or IAP.
Asmodee Digital has had a lot of experience when it comes to making digital ports of board games for mobile devices. Given the developer’s previous credits, Talisman: Origins seems like a pretty solid option for board game lovers. With plenty of quests and challenges, the game will probably keep you busy for quite a while.
]]>Asmodee Digital has brought quite a few popular board games to mobile devices, and now the studio has just pushed out yet another high-profile title: Zombicide: Tactics & Shotguns. Based on the board game Zombicide, this new game is available on both iOS and Android. However, unlike many previous Asmodee releases, it's not an exact 1-to-1 port of the board game. Instead, it’s a post-apocalyptic single-player tactical RPG.
Zombicide: Tactics & Shotguns Trailer
If you have played the physical board game, then be warned that the developer has made some changes to this digital version to make it more suitable for the mobile screen. Unlike the original, this will be an entirely single-player mission-based game, with a total of 40 missions for you to play through.
You will also have access to many playable characters, but some will require you to unlock by logging in to your Asmodee account or by in-app purchases.
The game is currently is available on the Play Store at the price of $4.99 (Rs 345), and as mentioned, there are also some in-app purchases included. These cost up to $4.99 (Rs 345) per item and are mainly there to unlock new characters.
Asmodee Digital has had a pretty consistent record when it comes to adapting physical board games to digital platforms, and if you are a fan of the strategic RPG genre, then Zombicide: Tactics & Shotguns promises a decent amount of entertainment, though it does deviate from the original game in certain aspects. Some might find that the levels are too long for a mobile game or are turned away by the IAPs, but if an in-depth strategic RPG on your phone is what you want, then Zombicide: Tactics & Shotguns is a solid option.
]]>Evolution: The Video Game is inspired by a board game of the same name. It is an award-winning board game for 2 – 6 players in an ever-changing ecosystem, featuring hungry predators and limited resources. The game shows a lot of potentials to steal the field of the most popular games out there on the App Store.
Making its way to iOS, Evolution the card game is for 4 players. Each one takes control of burgeoning species from prehistoric times that simply want to eat everything to survive. In general, players will try to spawn hungry dinos and eat, eat and eat! Of course, the best eaters take it all. Once the dinos are summoned, you can start evolving them over and over, and the way you evolve them decides the availability of the food source. You can choose to make your dinos have longer necks to reach higher plant food, or improve their armor for better protection. Your dinos can turn into carnivorous beasts, meaning that they will start eating meat, that is, other dinos. The strategy of the game is to acknowledge your opponent’s trait evolution, adapt and respond to gain an advantage. Below is a beta trailer for a closer look at Evolution.
Evolution doesn’t have that much of a random factor like other card games. This could be the most spot-on feature of the game. Your decisions will always benefit you somehow and you won’t be wasting your turn with useless decisions simply because you don't have any playable cards. Since many cards are available for you, your choice of traits makes your deck multi-dimensional. You can always adapt to your opponents, such as adding body weights to fight off carnivores or learning to climb trees. Evolution appeared at Pax last November and the app has established so well through the time that 99% of game freezes, bugs or random disconnects are gone. It’s no doubt that North Star digital team has done a good job polishing the codes and tuning things.
Many board game adaptations have problems with the pace of the game, but Evolution doesn’t. The game goes quite fast and you can choose to play your hand simultaneously to keep the game moving while the others are busy strategizing. There are not many issues going on with the game, but there’s always room for improvement. It would be much better to have more depth in Evolution: some reference for each trait or maybe some game interaction will fit right in. Also, it would be cool to see your ranking progression since it’s only available to see at the game screen at the end whenever you rank up.
There is only a limited number of traits in the game, but it’s not easy to get what you want. For example, defensive abilities and the one letting you eat before the others are very hard to get. The card scarcity can sometimes frustrate you out, but the right way to play is to respond to cards played by your opponents. Another decent thing in Evolution is that there’s no way you can wipe out the entire board of your enemies like in other games, meaning nobody will be kicked out early and have to wait for the others to finish.
Evolution is looking to steal the playground of the heaviest hitting card games out there like Hearthstone or Elder Scrolls: Legends. The offline version of Evolution lets you play 1 online game a day and it is totally free. However, to play more than that will cost you $8. It’s really a cost that is worth spending since Evolution is a no-brainer. For only a few dollars, you can get the full game and access to every card available immediately.
In other card games, there might be times you’re your draws are so unusable that it annoys you. But that is not the case here in Evolution, there will always be SOMETHING for you to do with every card. You’ll always get to play your round and not just straight up passing due to unplayable hands.
The 4-player configuration of the game might be a bit unusual compared to the conventional head to head gameplay. However, Evolution is immediately accessible as well as having longer-term viability among other card brawlers.
In general, with further development incoming, we might be seeing new formats, new adventures, ranking seasons and much more. Let’s just hope that the price won’t scare off players because Evolution is worth every penny.

]]>Evolution was first released in 2011 as a physical board game, and now it is getting turned into a mobile app. A couple of weeks ago, developer NorthStarGames revealed a launch announcement for this upcoming mobile port. You can check it out below:
Evolution is a strategy-focused game for 2 to 6 players, in which each one will take control of several species of prehistoric animals and have to try to survive in an ecosystem that is constantly changing. Basically, everyone will be fighting for food, which could either come from the local water source (or Watering Hole, as it is called in the game) or from hunting other species.
During the course of each game, players will take turns to equip their species with different “trait cards”, which give them various abilities. For example, you can give your species the Hard Shell or Climbing traits to protect them from hunters, or if you ARE the hunter, you could opt for traits like Pack Hunting or Ambush to increase your chance of success.
What makes Evolution interesting is the sheer amount of options you have. You can evolve your species in approximately 4,000 ways. There are tons of different paths you could take to ensure your survival, every single one of them perfectly viable. You could be anything from a herbivore that focuses mainly on taking Plant Food from the Watering Hole to a carnivore that must constantly attack others to get food.
The upcoming digital port of Evolution has been under development for what feels like an actual evolution process. Ever since 2017, it was revealed at 3 different PAX events. Now, it is finally confirmed that the game will come to both Android and iOS, as well as PC, on February 12th. Moreover, it will fully support cross-platform multiplayer, so everyone can play with everyone else without having to worry about incompatible platforms.

]]>Making a digital version of board games is very common now and we love that. Some games like Monopoly, Coup, Small World 2 are very popular on the App Store and Google play. Acknowledging that, publishers Alderac Entertainment Group decided to bring the famous board game Cat Lady to mobile.
The game sticks to its physical version so the gameplay doesn’t change. In Cat Lady, you will play as, well, a cat lady, and your main goal is to collect everything related to cats, like toys, catnip, food, costumes and lovely cats to gain points. Players with the highest points will win the game. However, you should remember to feed your cats or you will lose them. Therefore, you shouldn’t take more cats if you are not capable of feeding them.
Cat Lady is really a fun game which is suitable for 14 years old and above. The game doesn’t have many rules to remember, which makes players feel relax when playing. In addition, the length of one match is short (about 30 minutes) so if you don’t have much spare time, don’t worry, it is still enough to complete one match. That is the reason why many people love this game. Moreover, the artwork is also very adorable and sweet. Be careful or you will be distracted by it!
Another thing that makes this virtual version of Cat Lady attractive is that players can play with their friends or other people around the world. Definitely, you won't feel lonely with Cat Lady. Moreover, if you want to train yourself, you can practice against a computer opponent that is arranged by an AI. There are 3 levels of difficulty to choose.
Cat Lady is now available to download on the App Store for only $1.99. Not so costly for a very cute and funny game.
