House of the Dragon's first season is coming to an end, and most agreed that it is an excellent piece of television. The show has taken what people love about the original Game of Thrones and refined it to the next level.
In this article, Gurugamer is going to list the 5 biggest improvements that House of the Dragon made to the Game of Thrones formula.
The first season of Game of Thrones, while one of the best, is pretty hard to follow. It went all over the place, from Winterfell to Kings' Landing and even Essos. Characters from a single place only get limited screen time until the next one is swapped in. This makes it rather hard to follow the story of the show if you don't pay enough attention.
House of the Dragon, on the other hand, focuses on the House Targaryen family tree, primarily the succession of King Viserys Targaryen. This makes every episode more condensed, enabling extra screen time for character development.
In the original Game of Thrones, the Dragons were some of the best parts of the show, the sole "mystical" element amongst the gritty political intrigue. Only one side has Dragons (until the last season), and they seem to be nearly unbeatable.
House of the Dragon, on the other hand, is set in the golden age of the Targaryen, where everybody has dragons. From Caraxes' creepy long neck and devilish visage to the gigantic Black Dread Balerion, the show is definitely a spectacle for all fantasy fans.
Game of Thrones is a monstrously long show, and the last two seasons are definitely not as good as the first 4. This is where the show's writers start running out of source material and have to wing it based on Martin's outline for Book 6 and Book 7. There also didn't seem to be an ending, forcing the show writers to make things up.
House of the Dragons, on the other hand, gives screenwriters much more freedom. The outline of events is already completed, from beginning to end.
Set almost 200 years before the events of Game of Thrones, House of the Dragon delves into the history of the various houses, locations, and conflicts. It has done a great job of reminding fans how Game of Thrones used to be like. Viewers enjoy the chance to see the past of houses, like the Lannisters and Targaryens.
The writers also come back to the iconic political intrigue and suspense of the first 3 GoT seasons instead of following the action-packed style of the last 2 seasons.
Game of Thrones had quite a few thrilling character arcs back in the day, but due to the sheer size of its cast, some characters get less development than others. House of the Dragon is the opposite - by focusing on a smaller cast, it has the characters transform throughout the episodes in the most organic ways.
From a rebellious princess, Rhaenyra has become a capable queen-in-waiting. Alicent has gone from being Rhaenyra's trusted confidant to a scheming arch-enemy. King Viserys turns into a man of action after ditching his passive roots. Every main character in House of the Dragon is getting the sort of development reserved for only Daenerys or Jon Snow in the original show.

Tales Of Dunk And Egg includes three parts, namely The Hedge Knight published in 1998), The Sworn Sword (2003), and The Mystery Knight (2010). In 2015, these stories are merged in a book titled A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms.
The novel revolves around a weird couple and their journey. A couple of Ser Duncan the Tall (Dunk) - a knight and King Aegon V Targaryen (Egg) are the two main characters in this story. According to Variety, no scriptwriter and actor have been involved in this big project of HBO.
Apart from Tales Of Dunk And Egg, HBO seems to produce other spin-offs based on the story Robert’s Rebellion. In this story, the main character Robert Baratheon joined hands with Eddard Stark to overthrow the mad king Aerys Targaryen. This war made Westeros a mess before the later events in the Game of Thrones.
Moreover, George R.R. Martin also revealed that they had five scripts under development, and Tales Of Dunk And Egg is said to be one of them. This story took place about 90 years before the event in Game of Thrones. Besides, this prequel's plot is also directly related to Jon Snow - the late Prince of Dragonstone and son of Rhaegar Targaryen.
The leak made a lot of fans of this movie franchise highly awaited and excited. Other details of this project haven't been revealed yet, including the release date. This prequel series hasn't been in development, so it's too soon to predict the release date of the film.

]]>A year ago, Game of Thrones, one of the most popular series of recent times, ended, and we were all left wanting more. After information on Game of Thrones spin off shows first came out, we were all excited for something that could make up for the last GOT season. But the company that owns the rights to the franchise will make us wait a bit.
The company, HBO, decided to let the universe of Westeros disappear from our view for a while and they have not yet released any new series derived from Game of Thrones. But it doesn't mean that Game of Thrones spin-off shows and prequels are not going to come. Let's take a look at what the upcoming Game of Thrones spinoff series will be:
The first Game of Thrones spinoffs confirmed by media could land on your screen in 2022, as stated in January in a meeting with the American press. The story will focus on the three centuries of Targaryen rule that George R.R. Martin had mentioned in A Song of Ice and Fire and explained in much greater detail in Fire and Blood, a novel that seeks to complete the history of Westeros.
This Game of Thrones spin off series name will be House of the Dragon and, despite the fact that HBO has yet to film a single scene, the project has already received the green light to produce a full season.
With this new Game of Thrones spin off series you will be able to get to know the ancestors of Jon and Daenerys better. At the same time, it will serve to further explore one of the most outstanding elements of this mythical universe: the dragons of the Targaryen family.

Of course, we have to hope that the coronavirus pandemic does not delay the prequel even further. On the other hand, we have to take into account that it hasn't been shot yet and that it is still in the development phase, therefore we don't have much to delay to begin with. Also, HBO has said that the Game of Thrones spin off shows are their priority.
The first main character for the Game of Thrones spin-off is Rhaenyra Targaryen, and the actress must be in her twenties. Next up is Alicent Hightower, for which the second actress must be a bit older, according to reports. As of now, these are still rumors.
Both Rhaenyra and Alicent are mentioned several times throughout George R.R. Martin's novel series, "A Song of Ice and Fire."
Among her many nicknames, Rhaenyra is known as the Realm's Delight. She was described by her uncle, Daemon Targaryen as the most beautiful of the Seven Kingdoms when she was young. In the main novel series, she is said to be known for attempting to usurp the Iron Throne from her brother, Aegon II, in the war known as the 'Dance of the Dragons'.
Queen Alicent Hightower is Rhaenyra's stepmother and the second wife of King Viserys I. In the novels, she plays a vital role in the Dance of the Dragons, forming a bitter rivalry between her and her stepdaughter.
The next series is co-created by Martin and Ryan Condal and was announced in late 2019, following a separate announcement that HBO would not be moving forward with the Bloodmoon prequel, which even filmed a pilot for the series but could not proceed.
Casting information for House of the Dragon was released in January, mentioning characters such as Aegon Targaryen, Visenya Targaryen, and Rhaenys Targaryen.
HBO ordered 10 episodes for the first season, though HBO's head of programming Casey Bloys has stated in the past that audiences shouldn't expect to see the spinoff until at least 2022, without providing a more specific date or window. Game of Thrones director and writer Miguel Sapochnik is on hand to write the pilot.
House of the Dragon was one of several Game Of Thrones spin off shows considered, and will adapt the events and characters from Martin's novel, Fire and Blood, which was released in 2018.

Although it was originally intended to be a part of A Song of Ice and Fire, Martin ultimately chose to turn the story into a full-length novel detailing the history of the Targaryen dynasty.
At first, when HBO confirmed a pilot episode for the Bloodmoon prequel, all fans thought it would end up becoming a full first season. And after it was reported that the initial investment was considerable and that they hired Naomi Watts to be the protagonist, everything seemed to go as planned. But alas.
After filming the pilot episode in 2019, in both Northern Ireland and the Canary Islands, in October of the same year, they reported that the project had been canceled and that they did not want to proceed with Bloodmoon.

The series, directed by Jane Goldman, was set about 8,000 years before the events that occur in Game of Thrones. She imagined a world where fantasy was the order of the day to tell the beginnings of Westeros, where the Children of the Forest were still key inhabitants of this world. But as things turned out, those pieces did not quite fit together and they preferred to do without the project.
While HBO is now focused on making House of the Dragon, in order to get the first season out as soon as possible, there are some projects that the company has yet to decide what to do. There are other series, currently in limbo, being written by Max Borenstein, Brian Helgeland, and Carly Wray, which had the collaboration of George R.R. Martin. But time will tell if these series will finally see the light of day.
What was confirmed is that David Benioff and DB Weiss, the creators of Game of Thrones, will not be linked in any way. What's more, they no longer work for HBO and are creating content exclusively for Netflix.

]]>The television was one of the inventions that completely transformed how media is disseminated. It quickly became the most popular household item for most people around the world. In just the last decade, we have gone from broadcasting programs to subscribing to a streaming service with Game of Thrones and many others.
With the introduction of ubiquitous internet and streaming services, the landscape has significantly shifted from just a few years ago. Beginning with Netflix, which remains probably the top streaming service worldwide, other options like Amazon Prime, Hulu, and Voot have joined the fray.

Of course, these streaming services have made their marks in India and changing the way traditional television works as well. It's not a coincidence that people want to know what streaming service is Game of Thrones on or the best streaming service for Game of Thrones.
These shorter but much more well-made shows from all around the world, as well as great movies, all in one convenient subscription, fit the general trend of younger people more than the way TV shows used to be like.
But with so many options out there these days, you have to narrow it down to a few services with the shows you really want to watch. As in, you are looking for the streaming service with Game of Thrones or even the best streaming service for Game of Thrones that is out there.
The choices are in fact, quite simple and don't involve solving some kind of service for streaming Game of Thrones crossword. We know that Netflix and Amazon Prime dominate these days. While smaller-scale services are out there, it's hard to beat the number and quality of those two.
Fortunately, the lesser-known services have a fighting chance when it comes to possessing the rights to Game of Thrones in India, as there aren't too many of them. Some people, well, a lot of people have decided to torrent this groundbreaking show instead. But to be honest, a real fan of the show should give it real support, not take advantage of it for free.

If you are a real dedicated fan of this fantasy series and relive the World of Ice and Fire, these are the 3 streaming services on which you can enjoy Game of Thrones without feeling like you have ripped off the producers of the show and our queen Khaleesi:
Most people probably know about this option when it comes to the streaming service with Game of Thrones in India. This service even got to air Game of Thrones at the same time as the premiere showing. It is available on all the platforms that can stream out there.
While Hotstar is certainly the popular choice when it comes to the question of what streaming service is Game of Thrones on, is it the best streaming service for Game of Thrones? Well, you have to consider if it's worth it. The Premium subscription costs Rs 999/year, or 199/month, which is pretty affordable.
With Premium, you also get access to great English-language shows worldwide and Hollywood classics. There's also Live Sports and Hindi-language series available. Regardless, Hotstar is definitely a top choice when it comes to finding a great streaming service with Game of Thrones.
Do you have DTH connection tethered to your TV? Then you can enjoy Game of Thrones reruns assuming that you have an HBO subscription. With DTH regulations under TRAI, you can have the 'a la carte' option of finding your favorite channels, and HBO can be among them.
The channel normally costs Rs 11.8 per month for SD quality. Should you opt for the HD subscription for your set-top box, then get ready to spend Rs 17.7 a month for the channel. There's also the Network Capacity Fee and extra taxes on top of that too. Probably not the ideal streaming service with Game of Thrones at this point.
Star World can also air Game of Thrones and they certainly used to in the past. But you will miss out on all the features that really define the mature quality of the series, because Game of Thrones is heavily edited on there. Although, you might not be looking for those in the first place.
With Star World, you pay around Rs 9.44 a month. The HD version costs Rs 10.62 and Premiere HD costs the same. It would save you more money to pick the cluster packs or bouquet packs when it comes to cable channels. Again, not the top streaming service with Game of Thrones out there.

]]>The months of confinement and lockdown have been hard for everyone. So many of us have decided to spend time enjoying our favorite series, some we had already seen from start to finish, while others finally get to leave our "to-watch" list for the first time. But out of all the shows that are out there, Game of Thrones continues to be the one we look for the most.
Although the vast majority have been watching these shows through "legal" channels, like the multiple streaming services that exist today, many others have used not-so-legitimate methods that have been with us for decades.
Among those who have chosen this second option, they have gone with one of the most beloved series by fans in recent years: Game of Thrones, which despite finishing its last year with some questionable final two seasons, continues to attract new viewers.

]]>After eight seasons on the air, there was a Game of Thrones actress who stole not only the love of fans via the series, but from her performance in other movies as well. Who are we talking about? It's Emilia Clarke who played Daenerys Targaryen, of course. Today, we are reviewing 5 of her best works in this Emilia Clarke movies list.
Despite playing in her role as Daenerys Targaryen during all that time, the star still managed to take a break from it and took part in other productions for the big screen. Here we will review the wonderful journey that the 'Mother of Dragons' went through on Game of Thrones and 4 other Emilia Clarke all movies list that you have to see:
HBO, from the quality that characterizes the network, offers us once again a masterful television adaptation of the series of novels 'A Song of Ice and Fire' by the American writer George RR Martin. The small-screen version of this story shares a title with the first of the series' books, 'Game of Thrones', and is written and produced by David Benioff (' Troy ',' X-Men Origins: Wolverine ') and DB Weiss.
The series places us in Winterfell, one of the seven kingdoms on the continent of Westeros. After a long summer, Lord Eddard 'Ned' Stark (Sean Bean, 'The Lord of the Ring', 'Troy', 'Equilibrium'), Lord of Winterfell, is called to occupy the position of Hand of the King.
He will be forced to leave his land to join the court of King Robert Baratheon 'The Usurper' (Mark Addy, 'Robin Hood', 'The Flintstones in Viva Rock Vegas'), lord of the Seven Kingdoms, wayward man and once a great warrior.
Soon, Ned Stark's principles and ethics will clash with the way of life of King Baratheon, but even more so with that of the Lannisters, one of the seven most important families in the kingdom of from which Queen Cersei Lannister (Lena Headey, '300 ') comes.
Immersed in this world whose seasons last for almost a decade and in which remnants of an immemorial and forgotten magic arise in the darkest and most wonderful corners, Ned Stark will have to deal with betrayal, loyalty, compassion and the thirst for revenge.
From his new position closest to the king, he will occupy the ideal place to try to unravel a tangle of intrigues that will endanger both his life and that of his family members: his wife Catelyn (Michelle Fairley, 'Harry Potter') and his sons Robb (Richard Madden, 'Sirens'), Bran (Isaac Hempstead-Wright), Arya (Maisie Williams), Sansa (Sophie Turner) and the bastard Jon Snow (Kit Harington). Drastic twists in the plot, epic, violence, blood, and sex come together in this blockbuster that will leave you glued to the screen.
Among all this chaos, Emilia Clarke plays Daenerys Targaryen, the exiled princess of the Targaryen dynasty. Also called "the Stormborn", she and her brother Viserys were smuggled to Essos during the end of Robert's Rebellion.
For seventeen years, she has been under the care of Viserys, whom she fears, as he is abusive to her whenever she displeases him. In exchange for an army, Viserys marries her to the powerful Dothraki warlord Khal Drogo, making her a Khaleesi, a queen of the Dothraki.
Lou Clark (Emilia Clarke) is an enthusiastic, naive, and cheerful twenty-something who has never left her town, and who must urgently look for a job to support her family. On her way she crosses Will Traynor (Sam Claflin), a successful businessman who also grew up in this same town, to which she has returned after a car accident that left him handicapped in a wheelchair.
Due to his condition, this former adventurer has fallen into deep bitterness, making him increasingly determined to commit suicide. Lou's job will be to take care of Will. It will be then that Lou's determination, sweetness, and optimism will make Will understand that life is something worth living.
A war started by a group of rebels that has taken command of the Skynet artificial intelligence system has begun. However, when John Connor, leader of the resistance, learns that a Terminator has been sent from the past to murder his mother, he does everything in his power to protect her.
Emilia Clarke plays Sarah Connor, a protégée of Pops, a reprogrammed Terminator, and is destined to be John's mother.
A new adventure begins in a galaxy far, far away. On this adventure, we will meet the most beloved rascal in the galaxy. After several daring escapes from the darkest and deepest of the criminal underworld, Han Solo (Alden Ehrenreich) meets Chewbacca (Joonas Suotamo), a furry, robust and endearing Wookiee who will be the co-pilot of the Millennium Falcon.
In this new adventure about the smuggler's origins, Han Solo will also meet the famous player Lando Calrissian (Donald Glover). In this Emilia Clarke all movie list, Emilia Clarke plays Qi'ra, Han's childhood friend and romantic interest.
Up next on the Emilia Clarke movie list, Kate (Emilia Clarke) wanders bitterly through the streets of London, accompanied by the continuous clink of the bells of her shoes because she works as an elf in a Christmas store that opens all year.
When Tom (Henry Golding) appears in her life, Kate begins to see things in a more optimistic way, although it seems too idyllic to be true. But when Christmas arrives, everything seems to go against the couple. Eventually, they will realize that the important thing will be to listen to their hearts.

]]>Another Game of Thrones prequel is about to clear out its first pilot episode, according to sources. This prequel would take place three hundred years before the main series – the main focus would be on the house of Targaryen and their rise to power. Further reports indicate that this series would be directed by author George R.R. Martin and Producer Ryan Condal.
There are a lot of issues with the source material, the book Fire and Blood, however. Firstly, it is unfinished. Martin has only written half of the total planned volume, which only covers from Aegon I to the next 150 years of the dynasty (the main series will not happen until much later). And we all know how hard it is to adapt an unfinished Martin project – the last season of Games of Thrones was hot garbage.
Secondly, the book is boring. It is written in a historical report style, and with the length of 700 pages, reading the book would be like slogging through a college textbook, except that none of it is real.
As all these projects are still in the early stages of development, there is no guarantee that any of it would be started. There have been precedents about the sole bad pilot episode ruining the chances of a show before. However, if Martin attached some more work to the pitch, such as another actual book, HBO would be more than happy to kickstart the series. As the Game of Thrones brand is still freshly engraved into people’s mind, it just makes sense for HBO to capitalize on Martin’s works while it's still hot.
]]>It has been several months since Game of Thrones wrapped up, but many fans still haven’t forgiven the show for absolutely butchering the highly-anticipated Battle of Winterfell. It makes no sense at all, both from a strategic and a narrative standpoint. Now, with this short browser game titled Winter Falling, you will be able to decide for yourself how the battle plays out – and see for yourself how hard it actually is to win against overwhelming odds.
This is a fan-made product from game designer Arek Rebacz, who was so disappointed with HBO's presentation of the epic battle that he decided to take it upon himself to make his own battle simulator.
The gameplay of Winter Falling is pretty simple: You will be given a bit of time to put up trenches and arrange your several types of troops before the battle ensues. There are also plenty of decisions that you have to make, such as whether to command your army to build trenches or let them rest, how many support troops to call in, and whether you want to also have the helpless civilians fight alongside the soldiers.
That said, it’s not easy by any means, as you’ll find that the pace of the fight moves incredibly quickly, so you barely have any time at all to consider the outcome of your actions. On top of that, the army of undead vastly outnumbers yours, so they will find ways to tear through your defense from basically every direction.
You do have some powerful skills at your disposal. For example, you can direct your infantry or cavalry to charge, call your dragon to rain fire upon the enemies, or light your own trenches on fire as a last resort to keep them at bay. However, these skills will have cooldowns, so you will have to wait a while before you can use them again. Interestingly, there is a skill called "PLOT ARMOR!" at the very bottom, but we haven’t figured out a way to unlock it and see what it does yet.
"Can you defend Winterfell better than Game of Thrones screenwriters could?" Challenged the developer in Winter Falling’s description. Head over to its website to answer that question yourself!
]]>The final season of the massively popular TV show Game of Thrones from HBO wrapped up last month, and despite the sloppy writing and controversial conclusion, many diehard fans still remain hungry for new ways to spend time in the fantasy world of Westeros. To satisfy that demand, developer Behaviour Interactive – the same studio that previously worked on several notable titles such as Fallout Shelter and Dead by Daylight – is teaming up with HBO and GAEA make a new mobile game titled Game of Thrones Beyond the Wall. Check out its trailer below:
In term of gameplay, Game of Thrones Beyond the Wall is a turn-based strategy game in which players can collect various characters from the show and take control of their own very own castle of the Night's Watch to protect Westeros. The story is set several decades prior to the events of Game of Thrones, following the mysterious disappearance of Brynden “Bloodraven” Rivers, Lord Commander of the Night’s Watch at the time. In case you don’t know, Bloodraven would later go on to become Bran’s mentor, the Three-Eyed Raven.
An interesting feature of Beyond the Wall is that you will be able to travel through time to witness important moments in the Game of Thrones history by seeing through the eyes of the Weirwood Trees. Throughout the game, you can also unlock different costumed versions of familiar characters such as Daenerys Targaryen, Jon Snow, Tormund Giantsbane, Jaime Lannister, Melisandre, and more by participating in in-game events. Once you’ve unlocked a character, you can use him or her across all the different game modes.
Game of Thrones Beyond the Wall will reportedly come to Android and iOS later this year. If you want to get notified as soon as it arrives, you can head over to its official website to pre-register right now. Doing so will also grant you some in-game bonuses such as characters and item.

]]>It is exciting but a little sad that the final season of Game of Thrones is already coming. The first episode of the final series will be aired on the 14th of April. For the last few years, the Game of Thrones series has really become a global phenomenon. However, if you are searching for more GoT actions, here is our list of app that you maybe want to try out. In our list, you will have a list of a couple of games and application with Game of Thrones-themed. However, there are also some games and apps that are not set in Westeros nor use the same characters but still have a somewhat related theme. We list the apps first then come to the games at the bottom of the list. Please notice that we don't sort the app in the qualifying order.
We can somewhat call it an adventure game. Here, your actions play a major role in how the direction of the game would turn out. To make a decision you will perform swipe right or left thus impact the GoT world. One high point of the game is its amazing soundtrack, however, the graphics are not as great. This is the type of game that focuses much more on its gameplay and story rather than graphics. Be noticed that this is not a free-2-play game, you will have to pay $4 (Rs 275) to buy it.
On PlayStore, this game has reached the milestone of over 5 millions downloads. You could summarize this game as an RTS and RPG hybrid. So if you are a fan of those genres, this game is totally for you. Your objective in this game is to build up your house and manage your territory, build an army, defend your castles ... you will need a lot of strategic skills while doing that, of course.
This one is an episodic adventure game with an amazing storyline. In this game, you will feel like a part of the GoT world, with all of your decisions contributing to the story. Episode 1 of this game is free-2-play, but to proceed further you would need to pay up, but rest assured, the money is totally worth it if you are a true fan of GoT.
HODOR: Game of Thrones is a very simple yet fun app. All you do in this app is to tap on the logo of Hodor to Honor, sounds confusing right, actually not really. Your tap on the logo of the game will produce an effect sound, and there are over 100 sounds come with this application. So this app is basically a Hodor soundbar, but with extra feature like unlocking trophies. Once you unlock all the trophies you will receive sort of a special award.
It has a really lovely design which makes the user experience really great. In this app, there are also lots of questions that will test out all of your GoT knowledge. It is also a tool to learn more facts about GoT that you haven't known yet because it will show you the right answer.
This app is not just a countdown clock for you to put on your screen. It also has the feature that lets you add a reminder to your calendar, together with many cool collectibles like many books and misc deals. They have designed this app very well, making it very enjoyable despite the ads.
This may be not the most popular app out there, but it is good if you are a dedicated fan of the series and you want to take those extra miles. The Game of Thrones Watch Face is compatible will all the Wear OS smartwatches out there on the market. It also features a few themes and ambient mode that you could choose to apply. To summarize, it is a great watch face with GoT theme, but remember that it costs 1 dollar.
We just reported about the release of this game a few days ago. The Elder Scrolls: Blades is not in a stable state yet, in fact, the game comes with a tag saying “Unreleased”. This game does not follow the GoT theme but the atmosphere is kinda similar. It takes on the setting of a fantasy world in medieval time, pretty similar to those dungeon crawler games. In this game, you will embark on your own adventure, exploring new lands, resolving quests, customize your city, defeating enemies and etc.
This is another non-GoT themed game on the list, but you still should give this one a try. Rise of Kingdoms is set in a huge world with many real-time battles for you to participate in. In this game there are eight different civilizations and your main tasks are to investigate, explore, make alliances, fight with other nations and ...
The last entry in this list, King of Avalon: Dragon Warfare, brings many wonderful fantasy medieval charms to the player. Similar to other games, in this one, you will also be battle other kingdoms, make alliances, utilize your strategic genius. This game has great graphics so try it out if you are into strategy games.
]]>The last season of the massively popular TV show Game of Thrones is just around the corner, and fans can’t wait to see how the epic story will conclude. However, if they expect to get more details from George R. R. Martin, author of the source novels A Song of Fire and Ice, they're going to be disappointed.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Martin said he never read the scripts of the final season nor visited the set as he was too busy working on The Winds of Winter – the latest book in the novel series. According to Martin, the showrunners have come up with a lot of minor characters on their own and “There may be important discrepancies”.
The author also said that he had “mixed feelings” about the show coming to an end. While the TV adaptation of his work is now one of the most successful shows ever made, it has gone further than the source material. Martin “never anticipated” this and wished that he had finished the books sooner.
That said, though, this is not the end of Game of Thrones quite yet. Martin stated that he’s “still deeply in it”. After The Winds of Winter, a seventh addition – titled A Promise of Spring – is also confirmed. Additionally, a prequel show is also being worked on, with casting already being done. This sequel is scheduled to start filming this summer.
Another concern of fans is that the upcoming season will spoil the ending of the books but co-showrunner David Benioff has said that there’s no worry in that regard. According to Benioff, they have talked with Martin and won’t be revealing what the differences are. That way, people can still fully enjoy the books when they come out.
Game of Thrones season 8 premieres on April 14. A new trailer just got released on Tuesday, so be sure to check it out.
]]>After months of waiting, the first real trailer for Game of Thrones season 8 has finally arrived. Everybody is probably so excited right now, so let’s watch it first before we get into anything else:
As you can see, the trailer shows all of our beloved characters in situations that we're used to seeing them in at this point: The Starks (what’s left of them anyway) are still running for their lives, Daenerys are still with her dragons, and Cersei Lannister is still relaxing, drinking (during pregnancy, mind you) and plotting. Between all this, we have a decent idea of what's going down in the final season.
So let's break down the trailer of Game of Thrones season 8 to see what the upcoming season has in store:
Right off the bat we see Arya Stark with a nasty, bloody bruise on her face, running from something in what appears to be Winterfell. Her voice says "I know death. He's got many faces."
During these couple of sentences, the scene cuts to Varys and a few other unrecognizable characters – mostly women – hiding in the crypts of Winterfell (the statue of an old King in the North and his Direwolf can be seen in the background). They all look troubled. This is reminiscent of the Battle of Helm’s Deep in The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers, during which there was a scene where the keep is breached and everyone falls into despair. Could the same thing be happening in Winterfell? We can assume that this is the battle between Jon and Daenerys’ armies and the White Walker.
Next we see Arya holds up an obsidian dagger. As we know, this is one of the two materials that can actually kill White Walkers. However, given that Arya was not in good shape in the previous shots, so it looks like things are not going too well for the living.
Moving on, we have a look at House Greyjoy's fleet, and then an over-the-shoulder view of a mysterious character that looks like he’s in command. This has got fans asking, “who is this?” Several answers have come up, but they are purely based on speculation.
This character could be a leader of the Golden Company. If you recall back to the end of the previous season, Euron Greyjoy has sailed to Essos to recruit this infamous mercenary band to Cersei’s course, so this answer is not too far-fetched.
Or he could be Victarion Greyjoy – Euron’s brother. In the books, Victarion is described as a mighty and ruthless warrior, so him coming to the show would indeed be a cool addition.
We then hear Brandon Stark’s voice says "Everything you did put you where you are now. Where you belong, home," and even though we see Samwell Tarly on the screen as this is being said, is it really him that Bran is talking to? If not, who?
Well, since Bran is currently in Winterfell, it’s likely that he’s talking to one of the Starks, you know, because they are literally home. But he has been staying with Sansa and Arya since last season, so if it was either of them he would have had plenty of time to say this already. So, this leaves us with the last Stark (or a person that’s related to a Stark) that Bran hasn’t been reunited with yet: Jon Snow. Could this be where Jon Snow finds out about his real parentage?
Back at King's Landing, Cersei still looks like she’s plotting something awful. Next to her are two more familiar figures: her Hand Qyburn and The Mountain, still guarding his queen in undeath. They seem to be standing at the dock, presumably to welcome the Golden Company. Note that Qyburn looks troubled here. Could he be having a change of heart after witnessing Cersei’s atrocities? And if so, could it be the spark that leads to her undoing?
Then of course, we got a glimpse of the complex character that everyone went from hating to loving: Jamie Lannister. He says, "I promised to fight for the living. I intend to keep that promise." Clearly, he has made it to Winterfell after leaving his sister/incestuous lover to join the fight against the White Walkers.
Speaking of incest, we see quite a lot of Jon Snow and Daenerys Targaryen --the lovers who, at the moment, don’t know that they are aunt and nephew yet. This is surely going to change this season, and we might have had some hints about it already.
In the picture above we see Jon and Dany in the (again) crypts of Winterfell. And a side note since we’re already here, these crypts seems to have some symbolic importance since all the promotions so far have revolved around them. This gives us reasons to believe that they are going to be important to the main plot as well. For a while there have been theories that the old Kings of the North will rise once more to fight the undead scourge.
But back to the main topic, Dany is standing close to the camera, looking at Jon in the distant who is in front of a tomb. It’s not clear whose tomb this is, but Lyanna’s would be a sensible answer. This is probably after Jon discovers his true identity. It is understandable for him to want to visit his mother’s grave and look at her statue. Furthermore, since Dany is here too, this also could be the part where Jon tells her that they are related by blood.
Undoubtedly this is going to be a crucial moment for both characters. For all his life Jon has been looked down as a bastard, and now he will learn that his whole identity up to that point is incorrect. There’s no surprise if he feels like his entire world is crashing down around him.
Meanwhile, Dany will also find out that her claim to being the rightful heir to the Iron Throne is also not true, and it’s going to be fascinating to see how she’ll react. And then we have the whole incest thing to add on top. Yikes.
That said, there are also shots of the couple approaching the two remaining dragons. Are they going to ride them side-by-side into battle? That would be awesome indeed.
All of our questions will be answered on April 14, when Game of Thrones returns.
]]>It’s been revealed a while ago that the upcoming season of Game of Thrones is going to have an epic battle, and now we have some more details about it. Episode director Miguel Sapochnik, who also worked on season 6’s Battle of the Bastards, confirmed in an interview that this upcoming battle will be between our familiar characters and the undead army led by the Night King.
In this battle, characters like Daenerys Targaryen, Jon Snow, Sansa & Arya Stark, and Brienne of Tarth will have to face these supernatural enemies at a number disadvantage. It is described as the "longest consecutive battle sequence ever committed to film."
Co-executive producer Bryan Cogman said that the epic battle is unlike anything that has been done before in the history of TV or movie. He is confident that it will “blow everybody away”.
Filming this episode required up to 750 members of the cast and crew to work all night in sub-freezing temperatures for nearly 3 months. Maisie Williams, the actress who portrays Arya Stark, described the experience as “physically draining”. "There are moments you're just broken as a human and just want to cry," she said.
Iain Glen, who portrays Ser Jorah Mormont, shared a similar sentiment, saying that it was “really miserable” and “the most unpleasant experience” he had ever had during the entire series. He shared that the filming process was days after days of going to sleep at 7 in the morning and waking up at midday, being so tired to the point where he couldn’t really do anything else.
If you want to follow the entire interview, you can follow this link. It’s a pretty in-depth and fascinating read.
Season 8 of Game of Thrones premieres on April 14. So far, several pictures have been revealed. Adđitionally, a prequel series has been confirmed.
]]>Chinese tech giant Tencent has recently launched a test version for a new mobile game based on HBO’s massively successful TV show Game of Thrones. This is likely an effort to stir up a pipeline affected by the government’s 9-month freeze on new video games.
According to a statement made by Tencent Games its official WeChat account last Wednesday, this new title, Game of Thrones: Winter is Coming, is developed by Chinese game studio Yoozoo.
Way back in 2014, Tencent made a deal to gain the rights to exclusively stream Game of Thrones online in China. This medieval fantasy series is one of the biggest, if not the biggest, hits of HBO. It has roughly 30 million fans just in the US alone and up to this point has had 960 million views on Tencent's video platform.
The upcoming game is said to be a simulation that will “inherit the realist style” of the TV show. Players will have the chance to take on the role of several notable characters such as Tyrion Lannister or Jon Snow to conquer Westeros. There will be chances to visit many iconic locations like King’s Landing and Castle Black in the process. Furthermore, Game of Thrones: Winter is Coming also features some of the most memorable moments in the show like the Red Wedding.
In March 2018, the Chinese government issued a freeze on new video games in an attempt to combat gaming addiction in the country, which severely affected Tencent Games. The company has reportedly lost 20% of its market value since then. This new game might be its effort to recover from this.
Winter is Coming is not the first mobile game to draw inspirations from HBO’s hit show. Several titles currently available on the market such as Reigns or Game of Thrones: Conquest have done the same, and they have all been well-received. This is not surprising since the rich lore and vibrant world of Game of Thrones make for a great game setting. However, details about Winter is Coming is scant at this point, so it remains to be seen if it can live up to expectation.
Zynga said that they are putting money into making new games which are based on Game of Thrones and Harry Potter licenses.
According to what Zynga CEO Frank Gibeau said in an interview with GamesBeat, the company has a plan to release a new game in the last six months of 2019 under the license dealt with Warner Bros . This game will be a match-3 game which sticks to the Harry Potter franchise.
Moreover, Gibeau also confirmed that they made a deal with HBO about Game of Thrones license and they are going to make two games about this series. The first one will be a casino slots game. Zynga will take the advantages of the storyline of Game of Thrones, which includes a huge number of characters and regions. In addition, they will focus on the graphic to make the game cooler.
Formerly an Electronic Arts executive, Gibeau has a lot of quality relationships with intellectual property holders to help Zynga become stronger. This August, Zynga revealed that a new mid-core Star Wars game will be developed by their studio NaturalMotion in England in association with Disney.
Gibeau said: “This starts to fill out our product lineup from big licenses that we wanted to go after”
He also indicated that building a mobile game fanbase is tough but the licenses are pushing them to work. Gibeau had a lot of experience of working with more than 60% of new license holders in the past.
At present, Gram Games, which was bought by Zynga in May, is developing several games and have plans for an expansion for Merged! – a puzzle game. The games are currently in soft-launch and will officially come out in 2019. Besides, the game Merge! Dragons is going to scale up, too.
Not going to stop, Zynga’s Invest and Express group is going to bring CityVille and FarmVille to mobile. The CityVille game for mobile will be introduced in 2019.
In summary, a new match-3 Harry Potter game, CityVille, two games of Game of Thrones will be created by the US team. Meanwhile, FarmVille will be made by a studio in Helsinki. Zynga’s employment has hit the peak at the moment with 1,730 people. This is very necessary for the company’s upcoming innovation.
Gibeau said that “If 2018 was the year of live operations, 2019 will be the year of new games”. He believes that these new games will take them to 2020 and beyond.
