Grobo is a new platforming game for mobile that follows the journey of, well, Grobo, a robot who possesses the ability to control gravity. It's set to release hit Android next month on the 10^th of October. Check out the game’s trailer below:

The game takes place in a post-apocalyptic world in which 5 people have managed to survive by hiding inside a virtual world called Megatropolis. The problem is, now they cannot get out, and so it’s up to Grobo to help them find a way.  Throughout your adventure, you’ll also get to uncover many secrets about this world.

The game will feature 48 levels filled with all kinds of traps, from lasers and to spinning blades. You'll have to rely on your gravity-manipulating skill to navigate your way through them.

Judging from the trailer, it appears that you can alter the gravity direction, meaning all the walls around can become the floor for you to walk on in an instant. With some creativity, you can do other things as well such as stacking boxes on top of each other to create a pile that you can then jump on top of to get to higher platforms. No doubt as you progress further into the game, you’ll start encountering more complex challenges and have to come up with new ways to utilize your power in order to overcome them.

Throughout the levels, you’ll also come across memories of those that were lost in the apocalypse, which are basically collectible items. If you are a perfectionist and want to get the highest rating with every level, you’ll have to go out of your way to collect these.

In term of presentation, Grobo is delightful. Every level is hand-drawn and has this captivating quasi-painting. The music is also incredibly well-done, mixing haunting choral voices with 8-bit sensibilities.

As mentioned, Grobo will hit both Google Play and the App Store and Google Play on the 10th of October. It’ll be a premium release that’ll set you back $3.99 (Rs 280) if you want to get it.

OCO is the brand new game from SPECTRUM48, an independent video games company in the UK. It is a perfect mixture of music and visual, with a beautiful minimal design using cyber concepts

The gameplay is very simple.  Players only need to control a little cube to bounce following the beat in every level. Let’s see the first official trailer of OCO:

As you can see, a level in OCO will appear with a circle at the middle of the screen or blocks and lines that are shaped to look like a circle. Some people think it is inspired by a DJ disc which is used to make music. In another view, some think it represents a planet and you are a cube that is enjoying adventures.

Each level of OCO is a puzzle and your mission is to find out the rule and complete it by jumping, going through portals or chasms. With one-touch controls, players can launch, dash, glide, and warp to complete 135 different levels in OCO with wonderful electronic music. The game will challenge your memory skills as well as your reasoning ability.

If you don’t feel enough with the given levels, the game has a built-in editor mode, which allows players to design their own game. You also can experience other players’ creation by joining the online community. Moreover, you can earn in-game currency if you receive likes from others. Grand Mountain Adventure from developer Toppluva is advertised as the first skiing game on mobile that takes place in an open-world environment. In this game, you’ll get the chance to explore massive and beautiful mountains on a pair of skis.

You begin the game in a calm and cozy ski resort called Hirschalm, where you set out to take on your first slalom challenge. If you manage to overcome this challenge, you’ll earn ski passes, which can be used to gain access to lifts and unlock other areas of the mountain. As you make your way up the mountain, you will realize that it’s worth taking a detour from time to time to explore your surroundings, as they are home to many secret challenges as well as hidden ski passes.

Grand Mountain Adventure is now up on Google Play Store with the first mountain being available as a free trial. To unlock the rest of the game, though, you need to spend $5 (Rs 365) on an in-app purchase. Of course, that means there will be no ads or microtransactions, so you’ll be able to enjoy the full experience without interruption after you pay.

That $5 is totally worth it too, as it’s when you get to the second mountain, Waldtal, that the game truly opens up with many lifts and directions. The challenges come in different varieties as well, including big air, slalom, slopestyle, and more. Needless to say, you’ll be able to perform many tricks such as spins, rails, flips, and combos.

In total, there are 5 mountains for you to play through, all of which are massive and diverse, featuring vivid environments with wildlife, snowfall, sunsets, and even hazards like falling trees and avalanches.

An interesting thing about Grand Mountain Adventure and developer Toppluva is that the studio consists of 3 actual snowboarders from Sweden. The development of the game began way back in 2015 when two of them were severely injured in the slopes (one broke his back and the other his leg). While recovering, they spent their time drawing sketches for a skiing game instead. Unlike the majority of games we have today, Grand Mountain Adventure uses a custom game engine that is tailored for it specifically. It is definitely a unique experience worth checking out.

Tuesday saw Google made an ambitious, almost too good to believe announcement about a Stadia, a platform that enables streaming of games with heavy graphics demands on any devices of your choice. All you need is access to the Internet.

The Good Signs

Stadia has had its chance to prove itself by running an "Assassin's Creed Odyssey" demo for a while. What it was able to do looked promising and could even herald a new era of gaming. However, apart from that performance, more details of the new platform have not yet to be revealed, raising a bit of concern among the general mass.

The underlying principle of Stadia is to shift all the responsibility of rendering the game to a data center. When the center is done, the outcome is streamed to the device you choose. It is almost like watching others playing on YouTube, but you get to gain control of what happened. This way of working makes Stadia compatible with anything that has the Chrome browser or even runs on the technology of Chrome.

Stadia will run a loop, which might raise the question of whether there will be some latency in the gameplay. However, in the Assassin's Creed Odyssey demo, lags were non-existing so that it can be partly assuring.

For the current ability of Stadia, it seems like it can handle games like Assassin's Creed with ease, but for more demanding titles like a Twitch-based shooter, it might run into trouble. Michael Higham had the opportunity to play Doom Eternal on Stadia, and he confirmed that latency did happen, which proves that this idea of streaming games might work on some tiles but not all, at least for the time being.

Some expect Google to show off its controller, which makes use of Wifi to prevent lagging but there is no such thing on display, meaning that it was not ready at the time of the demo. In the place of that controller is one made by Logitech and it worked ok.

While a specially-designed controller is about to be revealed, Google still makes sure that its Stadia can work with a wide variety of existing controllers. For example, that of a PlayStation or Xbox can be connected to a computer and be compatible with Stadia too.

So in general, lagging does happen but Google is working to fix it, and it is not some deal breaker. People who have had the chance to try it said that it exceeded their expectation and also looked nice. Last year, Google assembled a group to take part in its Google’s Project Stream beta test and these players got to play Odyssey on Stadia. It is obvious that between that test and this year’s demo, Stadia has had a big leap.

The Unknowns

If things go according to plan for Google, this might be the game changer that has the power to alter the whole future of the gaming industry. With Stadia, there is no need to upgrade hardware as it enables any device to play almost any game.

The future seems so bright for Stadia, but mishaps can happen any minute. Access to the internet is vital to its performance might depend heavily on how good the connection is where users base. So if in the parts of the world that the Internet’s speed is slow, will Stadia able to work? This question might need time to answer as all we know now is a short demo in a room with favorable conditions, which speak little of Stadia’s performance in real life.

Google is remaining quiet about the list of games on Stadia’s library, which is another concern. The technology might be a breakthrough but if it cannot offer what players need, the outcome might not what Google wants to see.

The last question is how much Stadia will cost. It is still unknown whether it will come with a monthly subscription fee like Spotify or players will be charged by the game they play like they do with Steam.

Google has not answered all of these above questions but it said that more details were coming in the future, and that is all we know.

Chin Young Kian is one of the three co-founders of Rotten Mage – a local game company in Singapore. Recently, he started his own project by developing a mobile app, Serious Scramblers, based on the legend Nokia game Rapid Roll.

The inspiration behind his creation is Rapid Roll, a game that he used to play on his Nokia. The game was supposed to be launched in May, but in fact, it is still going through tests and revisions on both iOS and Android as Young Kian started to add more features after receiving the comments. He invested heavily on the theme songs, PR campaign, icon artwork, which was totally self-funded.

 
Serious Scramblers Gameplay

Twenty-year-old Kian started developing Serious Scramblers in 2017 and spent over 500 hours on completing his game. Last spring, it entered open beta on Android. On November 14th, the game will be launched officially. The tactic of the game is described to be quite easy but addictive: it is a kind of “fall down” game where the characters enter a pit that moves upwards, and they have to manage to survive by falling down while avoiding the obstacles.

However, if things are as simple as running and avoiding, this game would not be “an intense mobile game” as Kian described. At the bottom, the final boss is revealed to be a giant centipede. To finish the game, players will have to beat this massive monster. The message here is the fight of good versus evil.

Despite the retro theme, the graphics of this game is, indeed, fresh and modernized, with the scanline effect and great pixel art. The developers spent huge effort to build up many characters that you can choose from with different skills. It absolutely takes up all my attention, and hopefully yours too. You can wait for its launch next week, or even pre-order it in App Store for now.

Teslagrad is a name that many PC and console gamers are probably familiar with. After all, it is one of the most interesting platform/puzzle games in the past few years. The game came to mobile on November 7, and now Android and iOS owners can see for themselves what all the fuss is about.

The story of Teslagrad takes place in a kingdom by the name of Elektropia. It is currently under the rule of a tyrant who wants to destroy all the teslamancers (individuals who have the power to control electricity). The player will take the role of a young teslamancer who sets out to prevent that from happening.

In term of gameplay, Teslagrad is a 2D puzzle-platform game. Players will utilize the power of electricity and electromagnetism to navigate their ways through puzzles and battle bad guys. Early on in the game, you will have no powers, and will have to rely solely on running and jumping. As you progress through the game, however, you will come across power gloves that allow you to control electrical currents. In addition, there are various other tools that enable you to solve more complicated puzzles. These puzzles will certainly put your mind to the test. Moreover, there are several bosses to challenge your patience as well.

Since this is a mobile port of a 2D platform console game, many are concerned about how the controls will work on a touchscreen. It does take a while to get used to, but overall functions pretty well. There are buttons dedicated to activating whatever weapon or tool you are using, as well as a button for jumping. Furthermore, this mobile version also supports external controller.

Teslagrad is currently available on both Google Play Store and the App Store. The price is originally $6.99, but it is currently under a 30% discount, meaning you can get it right now for only $4.99.

Gris, a gorgeous puzzle-platformer game by Nomada Studio and Devolver Digital, has officially announced its firm release date. To be specific, it is going to be available on December 13.

Gris is the collaboration product between Nomada Studio and Devolver Digital. With its stunning watercolor fantasy, Gris is considered the most gorgeous 2D platform game in 2018. The first firm hints of Gris were unveiled in last August through its 90-second trailer. Speaking from the trailer, there is no doubt that its "serene and evocative narrative experience" and beautiful imagery have taken almost everyone's breath away.

Nomada Studio and Devolver Digital have successfully shown off and stood out with this game. Gris is totally different from the majority of recent games, with the settings based on watercolor paintings along with emotive music. The game follows a young girl, suffering from devastating loss and getting lost in her own world. The players will stay by her side, help her grow emotionally and see the world in a different way. Doing so will unlock new abilities that reveal new paths to explore. And in the end, the girl is able to get through sorrow and overcome her grief, which is a wonderful thing to see.

“You start pretty much with nothing and then you see her growing and learning from her surroundings and dealing with the whole thing,” said Roger Mendoza, co-founder of the Spain-based Nomada Studio. “At the end you see all the colors and the world changes." According to Mendoza, this game grows up alongside the player.

The origin of Gris

Nomada Studio and Devolver Digital want to make a change from many traditional video games, which are full of killing and fighting.

“We wanted to do something different and Conrad wanted to do something more artistic as well,” explains Adrian Cuevas, the other co-founder of Nomada, of the origins of the game. “Basically, we like a lot of games like Journey and Ori and the Blind Forest, these types of games that have different art styles. So, [...] we decided to focus a lot on this, on the music and on having a subtle story.”

Mobile game developer Mooff is well-loved by many fans for creating games that are able to bring back the nostalgic feeling of the old classics. Now, the company has launched a new game: Blackmoor 2.

Mooff recently renamed into The Four Fats, and has since been switching from 2D games to 3D. Blackmoor 2, though, could be called a 2.5D game. The environment and some enemies are 3D, but everything else is 2D. This brings the game a new depth compared to previous Mooff (Or The Four Fats) games and adds a refreshing feeling to the company’s signature style.

Blackmoor 2 is a sequel to Blackmoor – Duberry’s Quest, and if you have played this first game, you know what to expect. If not, it is an action/platform game with a simple idea: You fight your way pass hordes of enemies to get to the end of the level, where you will face a boss. The game also has a touch of RPG to it as well: Throughout the game, you will learn more special abilities and offensive moves, and you can loot your vanquished foes for items that can be used to buy or upgrade your equipment. This gives Blackmoor a sense of progression.

The combat is Blackmoor 2’s most entertaining factor. Even with the RPG elements, it is still for the most part a button-smashing game. And that is absolutely not a bad thing at all. Hacking and slashing through legions of enemies is just insanely satisfying.

The story campaign of Blackmoor 2 follows the events of the first game. Furthermore, the developer has included a level-creation mode in it as well. This allows players to create their own levels and share them online for others to play. This essentially means there will be unlimited content to play through after you have finished the main story. Not only that, you can also play online with your friends as well.

Blackmoor 2 is free to play. However, if you want to unlock additional characters and costumes, or upgrade your equipment, you might find yourself having to grind for quite a bit. There are occasionally video ads too. If you want, you can purchase the premium unlock for $2.99 to remove the ads. Doing so will also give you a lot of goods, which will reduce the grind. That is not to say the premium unlock will give you everything, which is a good thing, since you will still have something to play for.

Whether you are a fan of the original Blackmoor or an action/platform game lover that is new to the series, you should definitely give Blackmoor 2 a chance. It is available on both Android and iOS.

We first got a glimpse of Micro Vendor Adventures in August when the developers released a teaser and announced that they were looking for beta testers. Now, after a couple of months, it seems that the complete product is finally ready. It will be launching on November 7, and it will be available on both Android and iOS devices.

In this game, you will control a mini robot by the name of Micro Vendor. It is the one who retrieves your drink from the vending machine and takes it to the delivery point. In order to do that, this little guy has to navigate through several hazardous stages.

In term of gameplay, Micro Vendor Adventures is pretty simple. Micro Vendor moves horizontally in a 2D environment, finds ways to get to the can of Coke, gets it, then traverses the map to deliver it to the destination. There will be many traps, enemies and even bosses along the way, because of course there are bad guys who want to prevent you from getting your favorite drink. However, you have the power to manipulate various objects in the environment, from blocks to elevators, so use them to create paths for Micro Vendor.

It is only a few days before the Haloween eve rolls around. For most people, this time of the year is always reserved for partying and cosplaying. Thus, today I bring to you this new game from Studio Bando that I believe to be a great entertainment for the eve. The game has some unique ghosts as its stars, each of them has their own special traits. To get through the game, the player must get to the finish point of each stage. Max: The Curse of Brotherhood is an adventure game from Press Play, an indie studio. It is the direct sequel to Max & the Magic Marker, which came out in 2010. However, the setting of this sequel is much darker than its predecessor.

The protagonist of the game is, as you might guess, Max. At first glance, he appears to be just a normal boy, living a normal life. There is more to him than meets the eye, though, as he possesses a magical marker.

It acts as your weapon to defend against monsters and can also be used to draw objects out of thin air.
