Avengers: Endgame was a movie that brought a lot of surprises for its viewers. The movie also featured the largest cast in the history of Marvel Studios, including almost every superhero it has ever built in the past decade. Among the cast of Avengers: Endgame, there were also some supporting characters that you might have missed if you didn’t pay close attention. And the one we’re talking about is Harley Keener, played by Ty Simpkins, the strange young man that appeared at Tony Stark’s funeral.

In Endgame, he had only a few seconds on screen but that was a major moment to him as an actor and a Marvel fan. It was also one of the hardest things ever for him.

In 2017, Simpkins learned the biggest secret of Marvel: Iron Man would die in Endgame. Keeping that secret for 2 years was a great challenge for the boy. “It was the hardest thing,” Simpkins said.

In 2013, Simpkins played Harley in Iron Man 3, who helped Iron Man rebuild his suit. Years later, when Simpkins was practicing lines before an audition, his manager called, saying that Marvel Studios might bring Harley back for the final movie of the Infinity Saga. His manager confirmed the news later that week, then Marvel Studios co-president called Simpkins.

“He walked me through how they get to a point where they’re fighting Thanos and then at the end Iron Man dies. So then he just told me I’m gonna be at the funeral.”

Right after the call, the actor reached out to Iron Man, aka Robert Downey Jr., telling him about how excited he was to be in the movie and how much Iron Man meant to him throughout his life.

Marvel has long been known to be secretive about the twists in its upcoming movies. Actors when interviewed often make jokes about “Marvel snipers” to avoid questions close to the spoiler territory.

After Endgame, Tom Holland said he was told to film Tony Stark’s wedding to keep the secret of the movie’s ending.

However, Simpkins said that most of the cast and crew members knew what would happen. The crew used the wedding as a code word with some of the cast and told people auditioning for roles that it was a wedding.

At first, keeping the secret wasn’t difficult before the release of the Infinity War film, in which Iron Man’s death was a concept that felt far off and impossible. However, the closer it was to Endgame, the harder it became not to slip out the spoiler.

“At the end there it started seeping out of me a little bit, just because we filmed that in November 2017 and it came out in 2019.”

After his brief appearance in Endgame, many Marvel fans thought Harley might be set up for a larger role later on. But Simpkins said he had not heard anything though he would love any opportunity to return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Will they dare to bring the Secret Wars storyline to the cinemas? It's a great question that only Marvel Studios can solve. But it's clear that it would be just as or even more epic than the events of Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame.

The Russo brothers, directors of both films, believe that Secret Wars is a great idea that would surpass everything we've seen in theaters to date.

“You know, I read that when I was 10 or 11, and it was the scale of getting all of the heroes together. It was one of the first major books to do that — that was really event-storytelling to me at its finest. And what happens when you put all of those personalities together.

"I also like the idea of villains having to team up with heroes. Anth and I like complicated relationships between heroes and villains, we like villains who believe they’re heroes in their own stories, so it’s all sort of built into this notion of Secret Wars."

"To execute something on the scale of Infinity War was directly related to the dream of Secret Wars, which is even larger in scale.” Joe Russo said.

To which his brother Anthony Russo replied:

"It would be the biggest movie you could possibly imagine, so that’s what really excites us about the story — the ambition of it is even bigger than the ambition of the Infinity Saga."

What is "Secret Wars" in Marvel Comics?

It is a twelve-volume Marvel story published between 1984 and 1985, which was curated by Jim Shooter, Mike Zeck, and Bob Layton. The plot revolves around The Beyonder, also known as the Almighty or The Eternal.

It is a powerful cosmic being who kidnaps Marvel's greatest heroes and villains and confronts them on an artificial planet called Battleworld. They make different teams and alliances until Doctor Doom absorbs Beyonder's powers and tries to destroy them all.

But in the end, he is defeated and Reed Richards manages to return everyone to Earth. As we can see they could use many characters as they did Avengers: Endgame, but instead of all fighting Thanos, it would be a fight between themselves. The deleted scene from Avengers: Endgame is an enlarged sequence of the encounter between The Hulk/Bruce Banner (Mark Ruffalo) and The Elder (Tilda Swinton). The Elder explains to Banner that death is irreversible, but Thanos did not kill.

She clarified that when the Mad Titan made the click to eliminate half of the universe, the power of the Infinity Stones did not kill them, but rather eliminated them from the existence. And with that same power, what was removed can be recovered.

This means that it is possible that Thanos, having been eliminated from existence by Iron Man using the Infinity Stones, could return in the future somehow reversing the snap made by Tony Stark. Given Thanos' bond with the characters in the upcoming movie The Eternals, it might be possible.

In addition, not long ago the creator of Thanos thought that we will see more of the Mad Titan at the MCU, although his return, if it's possible, would not be so immediate as his film arc is still so recent.

Avengers: Endgame ended with Tony Stark snapping his fingers and wiping out Thanos and his army, much in the same way that Thanos wiped out half of the Avengers. If all those who were willed out of existence can return in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, then Thanos certainly can.

Exactly how the series’ writers could bring him back is a mystery, but perhaps there’ll be another villain looking to enlist the services of the Mad Titan for their future plans. Either way, it’s probably nice for Marvel bosses to know that they can bring back Thanos should they ever want to.

There are hundreds of articles on the internet trying to summarize in words the many Easter eggs present in Avengers: Endgame, the great cinematic event that ended eleven years of the Marvel Universe in cinema. But it seems that there was a detail that escaped us all and that you have now discovered according to Screenrant, thanks to a deeper viewing of the film.

A little Avengers: Endgame tribute almost everybody missed

As the website explains, although in Endgame we see Steve Rogers give up the Captain America shield for the first time, in the comics it has already happened a few times and there have been different characters who have taken up the armor of The First Avenger.

One of them was Roscoe Simmons, who received the shield from Rogers' own hands before Rogers became a Nomad. However, the joy did not last long, because Simmons only lasted two issues as Captain America since he was killed in issue #183 of the Captain America and Falcon comics called "Death of a Hero".

And how have the Russo Brothers paid tribute to this short-lived character? According to a recent statistic, X-Men: Dark Phoenix - the last movie in the X-Men series produced by Fox Film Corporation - is recognized as the most failed movie project in terms of revenue in 2019.

The Deadline has recently listed a series of movies that posted the worst losses in 2019, even after producers sold the film rights. Accordingly, X-Men: Dark Phoenix unluckily held the first spot in this list.

Although Fox spent up to $200 million to make it, the last movie of the X-Men series gained the worldwide gross at only $252 million from the box office. That means after considering marketing expenses, the total loss of this project reached up to $133 million.

However, it doesn’t take a big surprise as Dark Phoenix’s film-makers had lots of difficulties during the production. Its release date was changed at least twice. In addition, the plot is also another issue: the whole story doesn’t seem to bring any breakthrough for the old story of Dark Phoenix that was mentioned in the X-Men: The Last Stand movie (2006).

That’s not all. The blockbuster Avengers: Endgame is obviously a huge monument that makes audiences unable to put their interest in another superhero film with low quality like X-Men: Dark Phoenix. Another disaster movie that unfortunately falls into this list is Missing Link. Although it won the best-animated feature at the Golden Globe Awards 2020, Laika’s product still made investors lose more than $100 million.

One of the most emotional scenes in Avengers: Endgame (a movie that had no shortage of them) was the death of Black Widow. Natasha Romanoff had been a mainstay character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe since her introduction in Iron Man 2 in 2009, and watching her depart after a decade of being the most recurring heroine in the MCU was heartbreaking.

While it will be great to see her again in the next Black Widow movie, which will be coming as a prequel, fans are still hopeful that Marvel can find a way to revive her character for a post- Avengers: Endgame movie. The possibility that this could happen is more feasible than might be expected and could be linked to a plot point that at first glance may have seemed like a continuity error.

How one minor detail in Endgame proves Black Widow is not truly dead

In Infinity War, Thanos traveled to Vormir to get the Soul Stone, where he was told that he had to sacrifice someone he loved to acquire it. At first, Gamora offered to sacrifice herself, but Thanos stopped her, reasoning that her suicide would be a sacrifice on her part and not his. Thanos then killed her himself, allowing him to obtain the gem.

Following this theory, this actually contradicts Black Widow and Hawkeye's journey to Vormir in Avengers: Endgame. We clearly see that Black Widow commits suicide in this scenario, however, Clint Barton gets the Soul Stone. Therefore, it is not too exaggerated to believe that Natasha really could be brought back to life.

True, we saw a body, which by Marvel standards tends to mean literal death. Still, the fact that her sacrifice was used to retrieve the Soul Stone may suggest a spiritual transaction. Perhaps instead of actually dying, her soul was displaced, perhaps inside the stone or on another plane of existence. When Bruce Banner said he tried to bring her back but couldn't, perhaps the reason for this was that she wasn't really dead.

Furthermore, there could be a relationship between Natasha and the Soul Stone that we are not fully aware of. Perhaps she was more aware of what would actually constitute a "sacrifice" on her part, and Hawkeye was not, and perhaps her next film could shed some light on this.

The Hydra-Natasha connection

While the events in Black Widow are confirmed to take place after Captain America: Civil War, we also know that this movie will also delve into the character's origin story and finally clarify her training as a Russian spy. This movie is another way of relating Natasha to the Soul Stone and could involve an organization that is firmly affiliated with it: Hydra.

Russia's involvement in World War II meant that they certainly had contact with Hydra. Possibly there were Soviet officers who even deserted the organization (as did Americans), and they could have obtained more information about the Soul Stone in their dealings with Red Skull.

Perhaps Natasha will find out more information about the gem in this movie, and in Endgame she knowingly gave her life, knowing that she wasn't going to die at all. In that case, perhaps we can expect a post-credits scene in Black Widow that announces Natasha's return to the timeline after Endgame.

A few problems with this theory

Of course, there are a few things about this theory that seem a bit problematic. If she knew it was safe for her to sacrifice herself, why didn't she tell Hawkeye about it? They certainly would not have had to go through the trouble of that suicide fight, as wonderful to behold as it was.

Perhaps, however, Natasha still needed to pretend that she knew she was giving her own life. Perhaps Red Skull would have prevented them from acquiring the gem if he felt that Black Widow was breaking the rules. Maybe that's why the stone was given to Hawkeye, since his pain was real, even if Natasha's death was not.

Maybe it's a crazy theory, but here we are talking about Marvel, so logic and science have little to do with storytelling. If they decide that reviving Natasha would work at the story level, and as a way to appease fans, then opening up this avenue is as good as any other. For now, we can be grateful that Scarlett Johansson is reprising her role in this long-awaited solo film.

All we have to do now is to wait for the premiere to see if this theory comes true. And if the movie succeeds and smashes the box office like other MCU movies, which it has a very good chance of doing judging by the trailers and information that have come out, then there's no reason to believe Marvel wouldn't exploit its own inconsistency and minor plot points such as the one discussed above to bring back a beloved character.

Comic book characters coming back to life have a long and illustrious tradition and someone like Black Widow who is portrayed by an actress as prominent as Scarlett Johansson has a very good chance of following that tradition.

It’s newly discovered that Mortal Kombat 11 also has a Marvel’s Easter Egg, specifically related to the game character Baraka and Black Panther of Marvel with its signature catchphrase “Wakanda Forever.”

The “Wakanda Forever” salute is one of the special highlights in the Marvel’s Black Panther which is the action of crossing arms in front of the chest and saying the phrase “Wakanda Forever” in unity. It was soon to become a popular meme on the Internet and be used as a victory salute by many people. Although the heat of this phrase was reduced, Baraka still uses this iconic salute in the eleventh game in the Mortal Kombat series.

As a superhero movie, Avengers: Endgame has built and followed a stable set of scientific laws. Yet even when the film is out there and opens for all types of explanation, there are certainly some intriguing hypothesis and questions that would arouse some curious minds' interest. One of them being whether the Avengers can (or should) kill the baby Thanos, and what will that lead to.

To clarify the question, Marvel authors have given out a possibility.

But before jumping right into it, make sure that you are spoiler-proof by having seen the movies or not afraid of being spoiled at all since the article below contains heavy spoilers for Avengers: Endgame.

The problems with time travel

In Avengers: Endgame, right before the heroes set off for their Time Heist, Rhodey raises an interesting question that is related to time travel theory. The question is: If the team is gonna go to the past to steal the infinity stones before they were gathered by the Big Purple Villain, why don't they make it simpler by going back to when Thanos was just a weak, vulnerable baby?

And we all know that the rest of the team didn't allow that hypothesis to happen. Simple: first off, Avengers can't commit such a crime on an innocent. Second of all, that won't work as well. Just as Prof. Hulk has (almost) managed to explain, time travel doesn't work in traditional films such as Back To The Future. Once you go back in time, the reality which you just arrived is your new reality and everything you do will affect your future only, meaning the original reality (or timeline as they call it) remains no matter what.

So War Machine's ambitious intention doesn't work out, but What If someone tried to do it? Well, the case actually happened by the hand of Marvel's most famous anti-hero Frank Castle.

Frank's surprising journey

The hypothesis happens in a parallel universe called Earth TRN666. In this world, Frank Castle is still who we know, a discharged soldier whose family was killed and is obsessed with vengeance and punishment. Except for the fact that every hero and person on Earth was slaughtered by The Mad Titan.

Unwilling to accept the defeat, Frank continued to take Mephisto's offer as a Ghost Rider, and while spending countless years seeking for Thanos to take revenge, he encountered a severely beaten Galactus, who also held a grudge against Thanos for destroying all the planets that he could have devoured. The two decided to cooperate and Frank was given the Cosmic power just like The Silver Surfer, which makes him even more powerful.

Unfortunately, that wasn't enough. Thanos easily kicked both of them's asses and took Frank as his new servant. After a series of tragic and dramatic incidents with Thanos and his undying love for Death, Frank was killed and sent to another universe's Valhalla.

But years of vengeance and anger turned Frank mad. He wasn't able to get along with Odin's land, and so the Allfather decided to give him one final grant: to give him his deadly powers back and send him to wherever he wanted to go. An guess what? Frank assertively wished to go back to Titan when Thanos was just a baby.

But what happened next will shock you. After using the Penance Stare on the baby, he realized that this purple being is innocent and pure, so the mighty and mad Ghost Rider, after suffering all the terrible brought about by his future self, can't manage to kill baby Thanos.

And what's even more shocking that will make you wonder what has hit Frank's head so hard (no joke intended, he was basically hit by Hulk's building debris in the head, which led to his first death) that he decided to raise baby Thanos with his own way to prevent him from being a tyrant that would lay waste to the entire universe for the sake of love.

Yes, despite the mighty Galactus' and The Watcher's advice, Frank was still consistent with his decision. But things quickly went bad. Really bad. Worse.

Not only couldn't his timeline be recovered, but he instead made it worse by creating another timeline branch that would be messed up by another evil Thanos. It turns out that after adopting Thanos, a group of angry Guardians of The Galaxy came back time after time, trying to kill the baby Thanos only to be killed by the two (seriously, these guys don't know anything about time travel). Seeing all the massacre, baby Thanos took Frank's as a model and took on his ideology to punish the universe. This mad Thanos finally managed to go back in time to pick up his foster father and past self.

To be honest, it was a really messed up series of events, especially after Frank had to kill his adopted son's future self and take the purple baby back to where he belongs to, only to realize that he had been taken advantage of by Mistress Death all along.

The morals of the story

It seems like Thanos just simply can't be good after all. It's not only Mistress Death's role in using him as a powerful force serving her purpose, but the evilness is already inside him. What Frank tried and failed proved that changing the past, even with good intentions, is not the way to go. Everything happens because it has to, and the only way to not mess it up even worse is letting it be.

But just imagine what War Machine would do if he was Frank. I think he would turn Thanos into some kinds of homicidal tyrant that would lay waste to anyone dare not to laugh at his jokes. Seriously.

PHASE 1

The first phase of the MCU is a collection of six films including The Avengers, the first team-up film which has proven Marvel's ability of long film storytelling. IRON MAN (2008)

We also get to see the relationship between Steve and Peggy Carter, founding agents of SHIELD. In this film, we get the first look at the first Infinity Stone, the space one - The Tesseract.

Notice: The story arc of Captain begins with his motto of having faith in a cause bigger than oneself. But in the middle of the film, he traded that for this buddy Bucky. Will Captain find his greater good?

MARVEL’S THE AVENGERS (2012)

So skipping The Incredible Hulk and Thor, we will catch the basics on the first team Avengers film where the team gathers together to beat up Loki and his Tesseract. We also have the chance to see the connection between Hawkeye and Black Widow stepping up from side role from previous films. The first finale New York's battle is a major event in the MCU. That is also a value moment when all the heroes come together as a group. As the end, we also see a glimpse of Thanos.

Notice: We have some leaked photos from Endgame saying that New York's battle is maybe relevant to how the heroes defeat Thanos. And by the way, because Loki was using the Mind Stone in the Scepter and with Tesseract - he is the first one to hold 2 Infinity Stones.

PHASE 2

In phase 2 there are a total of six films but you can skip three of them if you are short in time. Iron Man 3 is a great film follow up the event in The Avengers but then it doesn't have anything on the main story of the film. Thor: The Dark World doesn't have any meaning inputs to the story aside from the Reality Stone come into possession of The Collector. And Ant-man is a fun origin story but it only about the character while has nothing on the overall storyline.

CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER (2014)

Our favorite Captain comes from SHIELD soldier to vigilante fighting against HYDRA, which from the last film has taken over the organization in the 20th century. This film is filled with world building and second acts to explain themselves. But Captain did well in this film by reviving Bucky and increase the urgency.

Notice: Captain's friendship with Bucky will eventually lead to the crack in the group, plus Natasa interaction with Cap build up the background for her to choose a team later on.

GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY (2014)

This is the first jumps off planets in MCU. In this new take, we receive many new characters such as daughters of Thanos - Nebula and Gamora. We also get to see the big purple guy himself sitting on his chair. The film focus on the Orb which has the Power Stone inside. Also, we have the bonus origin story of Infinity Stones from The Collector.

Notice: Star-Lord has the ability to hold a Stone thanks to his Celestial Lineage.  After the events in this film the Power Stone was kept on Xandar, but then the whole planet was destroyed off-screen by Thanos.

AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON (2015)

Of course, this one also - it is quite a boring film to watch in the whole MCU but you have to because of the plots. In Age of Ultron, the Earth-protecting AI created by Tony turns evil with James Spader voice. Cap begins to question the intention of Tony. They created Ultron with the power of the Mind Stone. To defeat Ultron the group has to destroy a whole city without permission, and that is bad.

Notice: This is also the begin of the story arc for Thor in Avengers. Thor and Hulk both leave Earth afterward. Vision has the Mind Stone in his head, the same one used to create Scarlet Witch.

PHASE 3

In this final phase, Marvel begins to improve on the interweaving storyline to work up toward a conclusion. You can skip Doctor Strange, Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 2, Black Panther, Captain Marvel because eventhough they are great films they don't contribute much to the finale of Endgame.

CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR (2016)

This is literally an explosion of the group inner strife. Steve and Tony's worries come into reality as people start to worry more since Bucky running around killing people. We also get introduced to Spider-Man and Black Panther.

Notice: At the end, Iron Man and cap fight, Cap dropped his shield and since we haven't seen the shield, Tony, nor Steve in the same screen since.

SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING (2017)

This is is kinda skippable, but it is fun to see the relationship between Peter and Tony as a role model as well. Tony tries to protect what he cares and this is about Peter just as much as Pepper.

THOR: RAGNAROK (2017)

This is a fun Thor film, the first fun one indeed. Thor lost his hammer, Doctor Strange shows up briefly, Loki gets the Tesseract back, Asgard is destroyed. Alright, Hulk came back as well.

Notice: We still don't know anything about the fate of Valkyrie Meek and Korg.

ANT-MAN AND THE WASP (2018)

The majority of this film deals with the aftermath of the Civil War. All the important casts are back and we got a fun film and some knowledge about the original Wasp and Quantum Realm. This is a very essential film to understand Endgame.

Notice: Scott was in the Quantum Realm and survive the "snap" but that is not very likely the key to undo the event in Infinity War. But maybe the Quantum Portal of Hank Pym will play a role?

AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR (2018)

Endgame is just Infinity War Part 2 - so yes go watch this film before the second part.

Maybe trying the approach of The Game Awards so that The Oscars could stay relevant

Has been around since 1929, the Academy Awards, more well-known under the name the Oscars has been a long and prestigious awards show in the film industry. Every year, millions of viewers tune into the show to see their favorite films get compared and pitted with each other for the biggest awards in the land of entertainment. However, in recent years, the show has been on a kinda downward trend of viewership.

This year eventhough the rating has gone up a little bit when compared to the last couple of years. This year the Oscars got around 30 millions viewers with 7.7 rating of adult viewers. But the show has passed through without any remark. In the last few years, the holder of the event ( Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences) has been trying to remodel and modernize the show for the new age. It is a good thing that they are now realized that they need to future proofing the Oscars. There are many issues that they need to take a look into like representation, the content of the awards, and other factors. For those, I think that they could take a look into the equivalent of it in the gaming world: The Game Awards and leản something from it.

Make the show more easy to watch

When put into comparison 91st Academy Awards and 2018 The Game Awards you could notice a big difference between how you access those shows. For example, if you want to watch 2018 The Game Awards, you could choose to watch it on Facebook, Twitter, Mixer, Twitch, YouTube and many other platforms completely free. In the meantime, if you want to watch the Oscars you must use the cable/ antenna TV or watch it on a paid subscription service like PlayStation Vue, ABC app, Sling TV, YouTube TV, Hulu Live.

We could talk a lot about how old entertainment medium has been lacking behind in adapting to the modern age. But long story short, in the case of the Oscars they will see shrinking viewer pool if they resist online streaming. One part is because the number of cable TV users is getting smaller day by day, and if the show still keeps sitting behind that closed gate then its fate would be certain dommed. The show needs to adapt to be relevant to the younger generation.

You might argue that the streaming services are fundamentally different than antenna or cable, it is still more beneficial for the Oscars to stream to everyone. Left aside services like Mixer or Twitch which I think are nor compatible with the show, but there is no reason for the show to not go on big social platforms like Twitter and Facebook. They should really learn from  The Game Awards and make the transfer to streaming services better soon than sorry.

Add in More  Announcements and Trailers

One more story from The Game Awards is that people watch it for the announcements and trailers more than because of their achievements. For example of another big event such as the Super Bowl, they know how much people love the commercials and they give them just that. While maybe the Oscars are doing their in-house short montages, videos about the entertainment industry. These are just not as attractive as the commercial of Super Bowl ( or The Game Awards).

Of course, we must take into account the transparent characteristic of the film industry, so that surprise announcement would not work for it. However, I bet that more people will tune in the show if they know that they will get a look at the new trailers for upcoming hits such as The Lion King,  IT: Chapter 2, Detective Pikachu, or Avengers: Endgame. Or maybe they could just add in some fun commercials with Super Bowl style to stir up the show.

While they could also charge the owner for the announcements and commercials which will help make up for the loss of transferring to free stream platforms. Just need to do whatever it needs to attract more people using the excitement factor. Doing both of those things above will help to get more viewers but to keep them watching each year one thing must change.

More Character and a Strong Host

I am admitted that the 91st Oscar show was as bad as I thought it would be, even when it lacked a real host. It went by at a fast pace and still managed to highlight the important awards. But the flaw of the 91st Oscar show is that it is simply boring and didn't have much character because they kept swapping celebrities to get as many celebrities on air as possible. While back in 2018, The Game Awards of that year is quite remarkable mainly because of the amazing host: Geoff Keighley.

Geoff is the pillar of The Game Awards in these past years and also is a big driving force. He is recognizable for the people and he has a true passion for the medium he hosts. The Oscars doesn't have that. The thing was quite good back in the time with Jimmy Kimmel but when Jimmy quitted. There is no one to replace him so the show continues without a host. No host results in a less enjoyable and fun show for the viewers.

During the 91st Oscars show, I liked the first bit of Amy Poehler, Maya Rudolph, and Tina Fey than the rest because of the humor and their characters. So for the show, I truly think that they should slow down and find someone to host the show. No matter that it be a comedian or a  recognizable face, the shows will benefit greatly behind someone likable in one or two years.

Summarize up everything, all of my suggestions come back to one single thing: the Oscars are stuck in the old way, The Game Awards are more relevant and attractive both for its medium and as a show. The Oscars must adapt to survive and lessons from The Game Awards are worth to learn.
