The story of Gylt

Tequila Works has always been famous for their storytelling specialty, especially through the non-verbal masterpiece RiME. And now, the developer is back, adapting with the new gaming mechanics from Google to deliver another ambitious title - Gylt.

Gylt is a hauntingly beautiful story of Sally - a young woman on her journey to find her lost cousin - Emily. The story takes the settings of a sorrowful town, in which the worst nightmares are wandering in every shape and form of dangerous creatures. Sally is only a mundane human, and she can't stand a chance of getting caught by those nightmares.

Fortunately, she has the power of light by her side with her flashlights and fire extinguisher - which she can use to get rid of the monsters. However, there are plentiful of nightmares in this town, and those things are definitely not enough.

Hence, Sally will have to stay away from their sight while finding clues on where her cousin went. Besides the horror elements, Gylt also wants to convey the meaningful message: always ready to face the emotions that you're owning, and overcome your worst nightmares.

Gameplay features

Basically, Gylt is a third-person horror game, in which you'll step into the shoes of the main protagonist Sally to explore this melancholic town. At first looks through two trailers of the game, Gylt has some vibes of Silent Hill and Alan Wake, both in gameplay and in the overall atmosphere.

To be more specific, you'll control Sally avoiding the nightmarish creatures scattering around the town. Your objective is to find your lost cousin Emily, and in order to do that, you'll have to gain certain clues on the disappearance of her, and figure out where she is now.

The game mainly features atmospheric RPG experiences with stealth mechanics and a slight touch of puzzle-solving. Hiding behind the environment, you'll then find a good chance when the dangerous creatures are not watching to sneak behind them and get to your place. But if they caught you, you can still use your flashlights and fire extinguisher to get rid of them temporarily.

The visuals of this game are haunting yet very beautiful that looks like a Pixar movie. However, don't let its aesthetic looks fool you since this game was rated for Teen from ESRB. This means it contains several violent factors and engrossing images. But that's very necessary for a horror game, so I don't give any hoot!

Release date and supported platforms

Gylt will launch for Google Stadia on November 19 - right the same day the platform comes out to the public.

It will stay exclusive with this platform for a while and then reaches other platforms eventually. This information was confirmed by Raúl Rubio Munárriz - the co-founder of Tequilla Works, and he also affirmed that everyone will be able to play Gylt at a time.

However, it still sad to know that there are some titles that Google promised to launch with Stadia doesn't make it to the list, including The Crew 2, Doom 2016, and The Elder Scrolls Online. Along with those titles, Capcom and EA are the two publishers that absent from the previously announced Stadia lineup. The reasons for this haven't been explained by Google, as of now.

Some other titles that Google promised for Stadia, including Baldur's Gate 3, Cyberpunk 2077, as well as the Stadia exclusive Get Packed and Orcs Must Die 3, will be released in 2020. Another confirmed title is Darksiders: Genesis, which will be launched simultaneously on both Stadia and PC on December 5th.

At the moment, you can only purchase Google Stadia by buying the $130 bundle that Google released. And we can’t say for sure that we have listed all the gaming subscription services. With so many services in the industry, gamers are often confused. Moreover, all of those services look really fragile. They do not seem to be able to last three years. We predict that the services that only support one game publisher will have to leave the market eventually. There have been a lot of television companies saying goodbye to Netflix and Hulu to establish their own subscription services.

At last, we believe that there will at max be the three biggest services staying alive in the market. For now, we can’t say for sure what services have high chances to survive, but all services are trying their best to gather more subscribers. Recently, Larian Studios has proudly announced that they are currently working the development and publication of  Baldur’s Gate III for Stadia and PC. Larian Studios has long been in cooperation with Wizards of the Coast's Dungeons & Dragons team to create Baldur’s Gate III. They use the current D&D spells and mechanics to develop this new game. It will also be the next chapter in the storyline of the whole series.

The developer also said that they would overcome the limits of the game's genre to offer an unprecedented rich narrative in this new title. In this narrative, there will be a lot of important decisions, memorable combat, unique side characters, and lots of player freedom. It will be the most significant production of Larian Studios ever which will offer both single-player modes and playing with friends mode

Larian Studios' Creative Director Swen Vincke said that the Baldur's Gate has a massive amount of fans and it means a lot to people. So he thinks it is a big responsibility to create this game. Though, he believes that Larian Studios is ready.

Swen Vincke also commented that they are working to create systemic and reactive worlds that will respect the agency of the player. That will also allow their team to use their skill set in the massive universe of Dungeons & Dragons. They also work together with Wizards to deliver a never seen before immersion level to Faerun's realm. He also couldn't wait to show us what has the team completed.

Recently, at Google's Stadia Connected event, a game exclusively on Stadia - Get Packed - was officially introduced. This multiplayer game can turn the process of packing up a house before moving into a “quest” filled with mayhem, havoc and also frustrating revolving doors.

During the very first Stadia Connect event of Google, there were a few new announcements made today, consisting of some new games that will come to this platform soon.
