New technology from Google for Android game developers will allow the games to take up less space and have lower requirements. Read about this tech here.]]>

Google will make Android games take up less space thanks to its latest development. The Mountain View company has incorporated into the Play Store a new texture compression system for games, which will improve the performance of the games in addition to reducing download size.

Android Games Will Take Up Less Space And Have Lower Requirements Thanks To This New Technology From Google!

The technology giant has confirmed via an official statement that developers can implement scalable and adaptive texture compression - ATSC (Adaptive Scalable Texture Compression) - in their games when uploading them to the Google Play store.

The ATSC format offers a number of benefits, such as improved rendering performance, faster load times, better battery life, and improved visual quality. In addition, and as we have already mentioned, it can also drastically reduce the size of an app download, since the new technology will also help to compress the textures.

Android Games Will Take Up Less Space And Have Lower Requirements Thanks To This New Technology From Google!

The technology is already available for download in the Google Play Store for all the game developers who want to use it in their titles. In this way, when uploading a game to the app store, it is done by separating the compressed texture packs by device type.

ATSC Technology For Android Games Now Available on Google Play Store

It should be noted that in this way, the Google Play Store will offer the texture pack that best suits each mobile device so that the user will always see the game in the best possible quality. On the other hand, this also avoids the need to download all available textures, since only those that are necessary are stored.

Therefore, in this way it is possible to save both storage space for these games on the mobile device, as well as download data if the downloading process is done without a WiFi connection, which takes up data allowance. Those who wish to implement ATSC in their games can already do so from the Google Play Store.

To help with the coronavirus lockdown, Google is bringing back 10 of its classic Google Doodle games to play. Here are the first 2 and others you can play.]]>

Many times you will have entered Google and you will have seen that the famous logo of the most popular search engine in the world is altered to commemorate something: it has other colors, another design, or you can even play a small video game without leaving the main screen. That altered logo is known as Doodle, and there are even popular Google Doodle games to play.

Google Doodle games to play
Most of us are pretty familiar with the playable logos on Google

In case you do not know what a Google Doodle is, these are changes to the logo that the search engine sometimes makes to commemorate festivities, anniversaries, or famous people. These modifications can go beyond mere images to show users eye-catching animations or fun mini-games. Despite being very simple, these are online minigames that are truly addictive. So much so that sometimes they manage to hook us even more than modern titles with state-of-the-art graphics.

Google has developed many online games over the years. What makes games in Google Doodle stand out is the infinite nature of the mini-games. The game to create music in honor of the composer Bach was also the first doodle made with Artificial Intelligence.

Many of the Doodles are truly excellent and not so different from actual games

As the coronavirus pandemic has forced a lockdown in most countries, Google has decided to keep users entertained through these doodles. The company has announced that it will bring back 10 popular interactive Google Doodle games from the past for users to experience, which it calls the 'Stay and Play at Home' project. It will do so for the next two weeks, starting 27 April, in order to entertain users from the comfort of their homes.

As COVID-19 continues to impact communities around the world, people and families everywhere are spending more time at home. In light of this, we’re launching a throwback Doodle series looking back at some of our popular interactive Google Doodle games!

Some Doodles are even better than many games out there

In addition to being able to play the games, Google offers you the background information behind them. You will be able to read the story behind the doodle, as well as how it was made and the teams that participated. At the bottom you can interact with a map that indicates the scope of the doodle around the world, it even shows you the different doodles made for that day in various countries.

Without further ado, here's our list of Google Doodle games to play now, including the first two of the 10 Google games Doodle games it is bringing back:

'Coding for Carrots', which came out in 2017, begins this series of ten animated doodles to play and entertain. it celebrated 50 years of children's programming language A cute rabbit picks up carrots along the way using programming pieces. It is an interactive game that allows many to have their own coding experience.

The goal of this doodle is to teach the basic rules of programming, helping an animated rabbit collect carrots at each level, creating simple command combinations for the rabbit to execute the command. Google Doodle, Google Blockly, and MIT Scratch researchers were its developers.

The goal was to make coding more accessible and child-friendly. It was designed to be less intimidating than typical programming languages, but just as powerful and expressive. Magic Brick Wars is a strategy battle game made by Halfbrick Studios, the creator of Ninja Fruit and Jetpack Joyride.]]>

Halfbrick Studios, the developer who brought joy to our childhood with Fruit Ninja and Jetpack Joyride, has just released a new game called Magic Brick Wars after a 3-year hiatus. You can watch the trailer of Magic Brick Wars below.

Magic Brick Wars is somewhat similar to Clash Royale but with more dynamic and complex gameplay. In this game, the whole board will be your battlefield with a total of 10 lanes. You place your units on your side of the board so they reach the other end and destroy your opponent's base. Units can only go straight so in order to prevent enemies from advancing, you need to block their way with your units, spells or magic walls.

Ice brick can freeze a unit

You can collect units under the form of cards and build your own deck to use in battles. You need mana to deploy units. Your mana gauge has a maximum capacity of 10 mana and restores mana by itself slowly over time. One thing you should keep in mind is that your units will take some time to be on the board after you deploy so make your decision quickly. A player is defeated after 5 units reach their end.

Each player has 5 HP

On the right side of your battle menu are brick walls. They are all made of 3 regular bricks and 1 magic brick which are shaped in different ways. There are different types of magic bricks, each with their own unique effect. For example, if an enemy breaks a Fire brick, they will get burned but if an enemy breaks an Ice brick, they will be frozen for a long while. Brick walls don't cost you anything, but they have a recharge time. You can rotate brick walls to maximize the effectiveness. Apart from brick walls, you can also stop your enemies using spells.

Magic Brick Wars is now available on Google Play Store for free. Go ahead and check it out now.

Google Play Store is removing the price tags on several great games and allow you to get them free of charge, here's a list to get you started.]]>

Google Play Store deploys discount programmes daily, and if you know just how to look, you can get great games for a fraction of their original pricing - or for free. If that’s what you’re looking for, here is a list of great games that are free that you should not miss.

Shadow of Death: Dark Knight – Stickman Fighting

If you’re into RPG, Shadow of Death: Dark Knight is probably one of the best gaming titles to ever grace your phone. Completely customisable characters with various sets of armour and weapon types, you can set your character up for whatever style of gaming that you like. With that in mind, the game is also pretty flexible in term of gameplay: You can engage in many different gameplay styles, just choose the one you’re best with!

Maxresdefault 4

Better yet, being an offline title, it doesn’t require you to be constantly connected - making it a lovely game to play on the go.

Sea Devils PRO – The Pirate Adventure Game

A fine mixture of action and economic strategy creates this brilliant RPG. Sea Devils PRO takes you back to the olden Age of Sails, where pirates and privateers rule the Caribbean. As the Captain of a band of pirate and their ship, the goal is obvious: To become the greatest pirate and the legend that sailors would tell for years to come!

Screen 9

Rolling By

The gameplay is rather simple: You are a nondescript ball whose sole job is to dodge the random objects that are falling out of the sky. Once you make a mistake and got hit by one of them, you are booted to the menu and the level restarts.

Simple, however, it can be quite addicting trying to beat your personal high score and compete with your friends.

Ghostpol

In this non-linear puzzle game, you take up the role of a Ghost Police (or Detective) who can hear the thoughts within people’s minds. Once a living officer with a loving family, you were murdered by a mysterious crime syndicate. Using your special ability to collect evidences and clues, you will help with bettering the lives of citizens and uncover the dark truth behind the same organisation that had taken your life.

Maxresdefault 5

Call of Commander: Zombie Island

A great strategy game with a funky pixellated art style. Your sole job is to command and coordinate your soldiers so that they could survive the hordes of zombies coming at them and not letting them be turned into zombies themselves. For such a simple game - and on mobile at that - it is quite detailed. Your soldiers require supplies and replenishments to survive and fight, there is a weather system in place that can affect the surrounding and combat greatly, e.t.c.

Call Of Commander Zombie Island

You can expand the size of your squad and upgrade them to give them a better edge against the undead.

Of course, the game also supports multiplayer for you to take on the zombies with your friends and compete with one another to get the numerous achievements within the game.

Unlikely Life

This game is quite intriguing, and can even be confusing. A puzzle game with confusing messages and mechanics, your task is to pass all of the levels using the information given by the game. From quotes to outright instructions, you can wield everything given to you to pass. But the ultimate goal is not to pass levels, but rather to understand what the game is trying to tell you. What it is saying is for you to discover, however.

Unnamed 1

A unique design of the game is that the moment you turn off the game, you will lose all of your progress. So if you’re determined to ‘complete’ the game, be sure that you have a lot of free time.

Slenderman 2019 Apocalypse

We don’t have to say much about this title, Slenderman has become so popular that everyone must have at least heard about this creature by now. The basic premise of Slenderman 2019 Apocalypse is that the main character suddenly found himself in an unknown dimension: Inhabited by no-one else but himself, and the Thin Man. The objective is to collect all of the clues (Notes) about as to why the Man had transported him to this strange dimension.

The classic game Minesweeper has been updated or modified many times, we only have the true descendant until now: Proxx by Google.]]>

Originated from the 1960s, Minesweeper is sure to be the childhood memories of many people and still be played now in 2019. This game is simply to play, yet it requires you to be really good at calculation to with a match (of course, we are not talking about the easy mode of the game). Because Minesweeper has been released so long, there have been various updated or modified versions of the game.

Og Image
The classic Minesweeper

Nevertheless, all of those update version of Minesweeper make us feel that it lacks something crucial to be called a proper update of the classic game. Over time, people start to admit that it is quite challenging to turn this classic and simple game into something sexy.

That may be true for other game developers, not Google. Just recently, Google seems to have pulled it off with a new version of the game that makes you feel that one click you are safe, another click and you are gone. Plus, Google has a pretty catchy name for it: Proxx.

Proxx
Proxx - the remake version of Minesweeper by Google

Google didn’t simply invest its time and resources to renovate the classic game from Window 3-1 era into an up-to-date version which has impressive animation and graphics. The brilliance of Proxx is that basically, this game is an open-source game, so it can work on everything, ranging from your PC, your smartphone, even yourT9 mobile phone can run it (that phone might be in a drawer with more than one layer of dust on it). Moreover, this 100KB game only requires 18KB download and renders at a stable frame rate of 60.

Screenshot 1
The main menu of Proxx on PC

You can quickly start playing this game by visiting the website of Proxx and choose the difficulty. Besides three basic levels (which are easy, medium and hard), the players can also customize their “battlefield” by selecting the size and the number of black holes – which is similar to “Mine” in the classic Minesweeper- and start playing.

Here’s some quick instruction just in case you have been in a cave for more than last 40 years. You click on a square. You will lose if it’s a black hole/mine. You will be safe if it’s not and will clear the square and the surrounding ones which have no mines around. There will be square with numbers indicating the number of black holes surrounding it which can be vertically, horizontally or diagonally directed.

Screenshot 2
This is just like Minesweeper, but much more cooler and sexier

You can place a “flag” on the square which you think is a black hole (for browser user, right-click to mark “flag” on mines). By flagging the black holes, you will not, by accident, misclick on it when returning to clear the black holes. Also, you can easily track the number of black holes swept and what is likely or not mine. Only when you successfully sweep all the black holes and open all the safe square will you win the game. The game may sound very simple, but it’s not easy to win. Eventually, Proxx is a version of Minesweeper, so the frustration is definitely not lessened.

And now you died, let's start again

Apple Arcade promises a great solution to the freemium play-to-win scourge on mobile, so Google must make a move if it wants to stay competitive.]]>

Apple’s announcement of Apple Arcade is a serious warning shot aimed at. Frankly, this subscription service seems like a dream for mobile gamers.

When it comes out this fall, users will have access to hundreds of wonderful premium games, all at the cost of a small subscription fee. As long as you own an iOS device, be it an iPad, iPhone, a Mac, or an Apple TV, everything will be playable, and there won’t be any ads or IAPs.

Apple Arcade
With the launch of Apple Arcade, Apple is set to take over the mobile gaming market

Basically, it’s the perfect solution to the greedy free-to-play scourge that has plagued the mobile gaming scene for years. Apple Arcade is the gateway through which premium games can rise again.

While that prospect is certainly exciting for iOS users, it’s terrible news for those with an Android device. The reason is simple: Apple Arcade is only available on iOS and so far, several upcoming high-profile titles such as Oceanhorn 2, Beyond a Steel Sky, and Where Cards Fall have been announced as exclusive to this subscription service, meaning they will never come to Android now.

Oceanhorn2 Cover
Oceanhorn 2 will never come to Android now

Sad as it is, game developers are not to blame here. Piracy is so rampant on Android that they simply have to come up with an entirely new pay model if they want to launch a premium title on the platform. That’s why Android games are generally launched as free trials on Android with an IAP to purchase the full game instead of having an upfront cost like on iOS.

So yes, this is largely our fault. It was our own reluctance to pay for a mobile game – regardless of how well-made and worth-paying-for it is – that put us in this terrible spot where we have to deal with tons of greedy, lazily-designed cashgrab games on the Google Play.

Gacha Rpg
Android is full of cheap pay-to-win gacha RPGs

But still, with the situation being as it is, it’s now up to Google to deliver a decent alternative. Piracy is not exactly anything new. For as long as we remember it has damaged the music, movie, and TV industry, resulting in those folks now turning to streaming services.

Google itself is heading towards that as well with the upcoming Stadia, but Apple Arcade is not a Stadia competitor. It has nothing to do with streaming. You don’t need to stay online at all time to access it. Once you’ve downloaded a game, you can play them anytime even without internet connection.

Where The Cards Fall Game 2
Where Cards Fall is another great game that'll be exclusive to iOS

So, if Google doesn’t want Apple to fully take over the mobile market, it has to make a move, and soon.

In an interview at GDC, Google Vice President Phil Harrison reveals further details about the company's plans for exclusive games on Stadia.]]>

Just earlier this week at GDC 2019, Google revealed Stadia, a new service that allows gamers to play video games across multiple devices via the cloud. While more detailed information about this service is still unavailable as of now, Google Vice President Phil Harrison has offered some further insights into it in an interview.

When asked by GameSpot about Stadia-exclusive games, Harrison shared: "It was a conversation that I had with Google leadership before I joined the company. [My] point of view was in order to really deliver on the promise of this platform, we had to build our own games. We had to build our own experiences, and that was a very fundamental, strategic direction that we needed to move in."

Gettyimages 1136864094
Google VP Phil Harrison talks about Stadia

He added, "I understand that [for a gamer] the word 'exclusive' can sometimes be a challenging terminology. [I would] rather we moved the narrative towards [games] that are built specifically for a data center. And if those games also show up on other streaming platforms, that's okay, because what that means is that the developers are starting to innovate and think about the future and [build] a 21st century game, rather than a 20th century game."

Naturally, any Google-made game that comes in the future will be available exclusively on Stadia, as clarified by the Vice President. Also at GDC 2019, Google announced that it has established a new studio that's currently headed by gaming industry veteran Jade Raymond, who previously held leading positions at both Ubisoft and EA. There is no information about what specific projects or games that this studio is working on right now.

Google has a new studio led by veteran Jade Raymond

As for the pricing model for Stadia, Harrison confirms that one is already in existence, but Google is not willing to discuss it just yet. Yves Guillemot, CEO of Ubisoft, thinks that Google’s upcoming streaming service Stadia will have several pricing models at launch. "Either you buy full price and you play; or you will be able to also register, possibly, to play either one hour or two hours a day. There will be plenty of ways," he said.

One thing we know for sure is that Stadia will not support offline downloads. In Harrison’s words, it’s "not technically possible," and “would be a compromise of [Google’s] vision."

Stadia is planned to launch within this year in certain western regions, including the US, Canada, UK, and "most of" Europe. Currently, only Assassin’s Creed Odyssey and the upcoming Doom Eternal are confirmed for this service.

Stadia has just been introduced by Google, but does this platform have any chances in India?]]>

News about the Stadia – the newly introduce cloud gaming service – by Google has flooded every single tech and gaming websites, newspapers, and magazines lately. This global tech corporation is aiming to change the way this world plays games via this service.

The idea of this game streaming platform is that Google wants to bring as many games as possible for as many people as possible. It is the fact that being a gamer is really expensive with all the investments on hardware. But after you have bought your hardware, you cannot play it everywhere because powerful PCs or laptops are heavy and not portable. But with Stadia data centers, Google will handle the hardware part for you, since the job of processing the games will be on Google's cloud-processing network. The output video games will be streamed either to your Chrome browser or Chromecast.

Internet Connection Speed In India
The way Stadia works are quite simple and straightforward

According to Google's demo, you can seemingly switch between playing on your tablets, your phones, your TV, your Pixel devices or your PCs. This can be achieved because your devices will only serve as the input devices (like a controller) and output devices (like a monitor). All the processing job will not be done by your devices anymore, it will be done by Stadia.

This idea may sound incredible and innovative, but to put it into reality, the internet connection speed will be the biggest issue. Although Google promised to build the data centers for Stadia all over the world, the corporation also notified that you'll need an Internet connection with at least 25Mbps bandwidth to play games at 60FPS via Stadia. Sadly, Indian citizens don’t have that privilege yet.

Hz Testi
To truly enjoy Stadia, you must have an internet connection speed faster than 25mbps

In 2016, India ranked 105th of 200 countries in the world when it comes to average broadband speed. In 2017 the country made it to 97th position and to 88th position last year. That's a decent growth for the average internet speed, but it's still not enough. Right now, Indian estimated average broadband speed is about 20.7 Mbps, which is definitely not enough for this streaming system to properly function.

However, if this project got your attention, don’t lose your hope just yet. The internet speed in India is rising every year. Plus, Google will only publish Stadia in the US, Canada, the UK, and Europe in this year 2019. Perhaps Google is waiting for a higher and more stable internet connection all over the world to launch Stadia.

Google newly introduced video games streaming platform - Stadia - still remains a lot of lag and latency. Does this system have any chances in the future?]]>

As we all know, Google has been hinting a project about a streaming game system that will change the way the world play games. This promise from Google seems a little bit too much at first, to be honest. But then, on March 19th, Google’s keynote about this streaming system – Stadia – was delivered. And it seems like Google has also delivered the hope for Stadia to us through the keynote speech.

Screenshot 2
Stadia was introduced by Google in the GDC 2019 on March 19th

Stadia is a completely cloud-based video game system that can be accessed from any device. With this platform, you can play any games (provided that the game is in the database of Google) on any devices – PCs, laptops, tablets or even smartphones. The only requirement for this game streaming system to work is that your internet connection for the playing device must be really strong and fast. Otherwise, the lag will kill your gaming experience.

Google Stadia
The way Stadia works is quite simple and straightforward

The problem of lag and latency is always among the most significant issues for gamers. And it is not surprising to see all experts’ first concerns for Stadia are lag and latency. Yes, there are games where the delay between pressing a button and seeing an action performed is a common thing. But for most of the games, especially games with fast-paced vibes, the lag and latency are pretty unacceptable for gamers.

Having predicted the concerns beforehand, Google has proved its confidence by boasting the power of Stadia with 2 heavy games: Assassin's Creed Odyssey (ACO) and Doom. This is the declaration from the global tech corporation that Stadia will not feature any type of lag or latency. Sadly, Google’s declaration was not 100% fulfilled on the keynote speech. Although the introduction yesterday of this streaming system did not satisfy everyone, Stadia still showed that this bad boy would have a pretty bright future.

Things went pretty smoothly with the test for ACO. Some even claimed that they sensed no differences in playing ACO on Stadia and playing ACO on a console. But the test for Stadia with Doom was not that nice. Technically, the pace of ACO is quite slower than the pace of Doom, so the lag and latency were much more noticeable than that of ACO.

Google Gdc Stadia 14
Assassin's Creed Odyssey had a pretty good test on Stadia

If anyone who has played Doom normally, they will realize the differences when playing on Stadia immediately. All actions are not instantaneous anymore, leading to the fact that you cannot calculate the shots like before, calculate the melee hits like before. These delays are not enjoyable at all, but the good news is that they are not that disastrous for the game. You cant enjoy Doom on Stadia the same as the way you enjoy that game on a console, but the game is not unable to play. You are just more terrible with the game (a lot more)

But the good news for gamers with budget limitation is that our bodies learn things really fast. It means that if you play any games with latency and you keep playing that game, the latency will cause less discomfort for you. Yes, it is still there, but our body adapts to that latency up to a point that you will enjoy the game more than the latency. This is not an ideal way to play games, but with gamers who can't afford big, strong PC but still want to play heavy games, Stadia is already a good enough option for them.

And please don’t forget that the internet system all over the world will definitely be improved alongside the development of the society. The 5G technology has been hinted to be released in summer 2020 with a speed of 5 – 10 times faster than 4G. In 3 – 4 year, we may see Stadia dominating the gaming industry like Netflix now.

Stadia might be the future of the gaming industry but there are so much we do not know about it.]]>

Tuesday saw Google made an ambitious, almost too good to believe announcement about a Stadia, a platform that enables streaming of games with heavy graphics demands on any devices of your choice. All you need is access to the Internet.

The Good Signs

Stadia
Stadia worked great at the demo session

Stadia has had its chance to prove itself by running an "Assassin's Creed Odyssey" demo for a while. What it was able to do looked promising and could even herald a new era of gaming. However, apart from that performance, more details of the new platform have not yet to be revealed, raising a bit of concern among the general mass.

The underlying principle of Stadia is to shift all the responsibility of rendering the game to a data center. When the center is done, the outcome is streamed to the device you choose. It is almost like watching others playing on YouTube, but you get to gain control of what happened. This way of working makes Stadia compatible with anything that has the Chrome browser or even runs on the technology of Chrome.

Qwnw8pczvsuzsq6a9frild
It is like watching YouTube, but you get to control what happens

Stadia will run a loop, which might raise the question of whether there will be some latency in the gameplay. However, in the Assassin's Creed Odyssey demo, lags were non-existing so that it can be partly assuring.

For the current ability of Stadia, it seems like it can handle games like Assassin's Creed with ease, but for more demanding titles like a Twitch-based shooter, it might run into trouble. Michael Higham had the opportunity to play Doom Eternal on Stadia, and he confirmed that latency did happen, which proves that this idea of streaming games might work on some tiles but not all, at least for the time being.

With Stadia, you can play on any device you want

Some expect Google to show off its controller, which makes use of Wifi to prevent lagging but there is no such thing on display, meaning that it was not ready at the time of the demo. In the place of that controller is one made by Logitech and it worked ok.

While a specially-designed controller is about to be revealed, Google still makes sure that its Stadia can work with a wide variety of existing controllers. For example, that of a PlayStation or Xbox can be connected to a computer and be compatible with Stadia too.

So in general, lagging does happen but Google is working to fix it, and it is not some deal breaker. People who have had the chance to try it said that it exceeded their expectation and also looked nice. Last year, Google assembled a group to take part in its Google’s Project Stream beta test and these players got to play Odyssey on Stadia. It is obvious that between that test and this year’s demo, Stadia has had a big leap.

The Unknowns

If things go according to plan for Google, this might be the game changer that has the power to alter the whole future of the gaming industry. With Stadia, there is no need to upgrade hardware as it enables any device to play almost any game.

Gettyimages 1136864017 0
The demo looks promising, but it does not mean mishaps will not happen

The future seems so bright for Stadia, but mishaps can happen any minute. Access to the internet is vital to its performance might depend heavily on how good the connection is where users base. So if in the parts of the world that the Internet’s speed is slow, will Stadia able to work? This question might need time to answer as all we know now is a short demo in a room with favorable conditions, which speak little of Stadia’s performance in real life.

Google is remaining quiet about the list of games on Stadia’s library, which is another concern. The technology might be a breakthrough but if it cannot offer what players need, the outcome might not what Google wants to see.

The last question is how much Stadia will cost. It is still unknown whether it will come with a monthly subscription fee like Spotify or players will be charged by the game they play like they do with Steam.

Google has not answered all of these above questions but it said that more details were coming in the future, and that is all we know.

<![CDATA[Google Announces A New Game Streaming Platform Named Stadia]]> https://gurugamer.com/viral/google-announces-a-new-game-streaming-platform-named-stadia-2053 Wed, 20 Mar 2019 03:54:23 +0000 https://gurugamer.com/viral/google-announces-a-new-game-streaming-platform-named-stadia-2053
At GDC, Google finally revealed its big news: A game streaming platform named Stadia. It allows players to instantly access the latest games across multiple devices.]]>

On Monday we speculated that Google was going to announce a new game streaming platform at GDC that’d be available on a wide variety of devices, and it seems we were right.

Google Stadia is a brand new platform whose aim is to bring a high-quality gaming experience to everyone regardless of what devices they own. It is powered by Google’s worldwide data centers will be accessible on desktops, laptops, phones, tablets, TVs, and more. Stadia will even be compatible with YouTube, which allows users to instantly access whatever games they see straight from the Data Center. The idea sounds wonderful on paper, but we’ll have to see whether it delivers in practice. For now, an announcement trailer for Stadia is available, you can check it out below:

Google claims that Stadia is capable of streaming games in 4K resolution and 60 fps. Majd Bakar, Vice President of Google’s Project Stream, also said that the platform could achieve up to 120 fps and 8k resolution in the future. In a live demonstration of how Stadia works, Bakar had a person play Assassin’s Creed Odyssey on a Chromebook, then switch to a phone, a PC, and then a TV. After each switch, the player could immediately continue from when the game was left off in the previous device. The upcoming Doom Eternal – a sequel to the 2016 FPS game DOOM – will reportedly be playable on Stadia as well, and no doubt it is just one title out of many that’ll support this platform.

Google will also release a new hardware to support its streaming platform: the Stadia Controller. It looks something like a hybrid between a PS4 and an Xbox One controller, with 2 analog sticks, a D-pad, 4 action buttons on the front, and triggers on the shoulders. This controller connects directly to Google’s servers through wi-fi so as to minimize input lag. Additionally, there is a “share” button that allows users to record their gameplay footage and share it with others on Youtube.

Stadia is expected to launch later this year, although no price tag has been specified yet.

For a while, Google has been teasing that it is revealing something big at the Game Developers Conference. So what could this be?]]>

The Game Developers Conference is coming very shortly, and for a while, Google has been teasing that it is going to unveil its “vision for the future of gaming”. Rumors have been going around has to what this might be, and here is our prediction: The company is developing a brand new platform for gaming, which will (at least try to) make streaming applicable.

There is a high chance that this platform will be available to all devices currently available. It could be accessed through the Chrome browser on a PC or Mac, through a mobile app, and maybe even on consoles like PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch (provided that they don’t think Google’s new product is a threat).

Google Gdc 1552461892741
Google has something big in store for GDC

Just last year Google was testing a streaming service that runs on its Chrome browser, so this speculation is not too far-fetched.

If Google is indeed revealing a new streaming platform, it’ll probably work on everything

After all, that is the easiest way to maximize its success. Google has already announced Joy-Con controller supports on Chrome, and we believe that all gaming controllers will be supported as well.

In the past, both Nintendo and Microsoft have shown that they are willing to work with others. For example, Xbox Live is soon going to be available on every platform – Switch included. This in turn demonstrates that Nintendo isn’t too concerned about the competition either.

So we reckon that both companies will be glad to include Google’s new product on their consoles. The same cannot be said about Sony, however, as it already has its own streaming app on PC, Mac, Android, and iOS.

Also, Google’s service might be accompanied by a brand new gaming platform that specializes in game-streaming.

Additionally, Google might be working on a new console that utilizes the platform to its fullest

The controller patent basically confirms this. Providing a console that’ already set up and comes with its own controller so that players can just get it and play will no doubt massively increase the profile of the service.

A brand new console is on the way? (Photo for illustration purposes only)

What it’s going to look like remains a mystery, though. It could be anything from a simple box that goes under your TV to something similar to ChromeCast that you plug in.

Still, the announcement is just hours away, so let’s wait and see what’ll really happen.

Google is planning to launch a brand new platform for gaming. Read the article to find how it could very well be a flop and what they can do to avoid it.]]>

Recently, an all-new game initiative has been teased by Google. The company plans to announce their “vision of future gaming” throughout a session of the Game Developers Conference which will take place in San Francisco the following week. This plan is very likely to involve some combination of hardware and cloud streaming. But whatever their deal is, Google’s new gaming service might turn up dead on arrival.

1

GDC 2019 trailer teaser by Google

Yesterday, in a teaser trailer which was posted on YouTube, gaming fans were invited by Google to “gather around”. This clip lasted only 37 seconds and did not exactly show any of their hardware or further details. Instead, it was a combination of scenes from many famous video games categories. Those scenarios remind watchers of games such as Tomb Raider, Call Of Duty and FIFA 19 without even mentioning any of them.

It seems like Google wants to attract the attention of the devoted gaming community as its technology is perfectly suitable for that. However, the difference here is that Google could potentially bring premium games to anyone on a variety of devices.

Project Stream was extraordinary

2
Google’s Project Stream was tested with Assassin Creed: Odyssey

Recently, Google has been testing its Project Stream platform for cloud streaming on one of Ubisoft’s new games, Assassin Creed: Odyssey. A lot of people at the test said that the method worked unexpectedly well. It encountered almost no stutter or lag even with slower, older Internet connections. The games which were tested looked and ran great as well.

Google has exclusively designed that test to prove to everyone that their system was ideal for a game as demanding as Odyssey.

“Streaming media has transformed the way we consume music and video, making it easy to instantly access your favorite content,” exclaimed Catherine Hsiao, Project Stream manager, in October. She then added: “It’s a technically complex process that has come a long way in a few short years, but the next technical frontier for streaming will be much more demanding than video.”

Google is now in an exclusive position to build a game streaming platform like what Netflix does for movies. After all, it is one of those companies that possess cloud datacenters worldwide. This infrastructure allows Google to execute its game streaming services without relying on a third party such as Twitch or Amazon.

Is Google planning to create their own games?

When Sony entered the market for video games in 1994, the hardcore gaming fans found no trouble writing the company off. The market has been dominated by Sega and Nintendo for such a long time at that moment, and besides, what could Sony possibly know about video games? And then, Sony launched its first gaming device, the PlayStation. Now, Sony is just as associated with video games as Sega and Nintendo were in the 90s.

3

The original PlayStation from Sony

The evident lesson learned from the PlayStation incident is that one should not assume that a new organization cannot enter the gaming industry and change everything. Especially a mega company with such long reach as Google.

We are not in 1994 anymore

These days, making games are very complicated and require a lot of money. It was much easier for game manufacturers to make do 25 years in the past. Ubisoft, one of the biggest game publishers in the world, annually launches approximately three blockbuster-tier video games in addition to a few more smaller releases. They employ almost 14,000 people to accomplish that goal. Sony Interactive Entertainment has 8,000, while that number for Nintendo is 6,000.

Now, we have to acknowledge that each of these companies employs only a small fraction of Google, as it possesses nearly 100,000 employees all around the world. However, these 100,000 are busy with tens, if not hundreds, of other projects and products at the time. They create Google Search, Maps, Chrome, and Android. Can Google expand its workforce by a whole ten percent just for them to create their own video games?

Again, we should turn our attention to Sony and why they have eight thousand people working on hardware and games. The answer is simple: They did not suddenly wake up one day and decided to hire thousands of video game developers. In the 90s, a company could make a premium game with just fifty people instead of five hundred. Furthermore, Sony has had the time to expand their employment rolls along with the knowledge on how to create successful games.

Even in the case that Google does decide to employ thousands of game developers, it is very unlikely that they could match the potential output of SIE, Nintendo or Ubisoft, at the very least for a few years. Even then, they would still struggle for competition in terms of quality control.

Game making is very risky, especially when your competitors are putting out some of the best games ever such as The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and God of War that only a handful of other game developers can only hope to match.

4

The Witcher 3 - Wild Hunt: Hailed as the best game ever made

A gaming platform by Google is not going to suffice

If one were to guess why Google wanted to make games, it would be to attract the audience. Devoted gamers do not seem to care all that much about gaming platform nearly as much as their games.

We have seen how this worked for Sony. Their internal products like God of War and Marvel’s Spider-Man are all blockbusters. While games released on the third-party platform such as Grand Theft Auto V and Call of Duty sell better on PlayStation 4, a lot of people still show up for the exclusives.

In the case that Google’s new gaming service turns out to be just another way to access the games which people can somewhere else, most people will simply ignore it. Such platforms already exist with Atomik, Nvidia’s GeForce Now, and more. Previously it existed in the forms of GameFly and OnLive, both of which were failed cloud streaming services that involved a lot of third-party video games.

It is also challenging getting the gaming platforms right

This does not mean gaming platforms do not matter, in fact, it is quite the opposite. While the games themselves get people to buy, it is the platform that causes people to stay and spend money for a long time.

This is the reason why Nintendo Switch is successful. It possesses some great video games, but all of them are not much superior to what the failed Nintendo Wii U console had just half a decade ago. The difference here is that people actually enjoy using the Switch. I used to unwillingly turn on the Wii U to play Super Mario Maker, now I am actually excited to build my own game library on the Switch. A major reason for that change of heart is because the new hardware proves convenient, and it was designed for games in such a way that tablets, smartphones or even gaming laptops are not.

5

The failed Nintendo Wii U

You do not really need hardware to create a successful gaming platform, of which Steam is a great example. However, if one were to introduce an alternative platform for Steam at the moment, they would need to satisfy other needs. Discord has managed this by building a chat and voice communication app which has hundreds of millions of accounts and is now building a store to further capitalize on that.

The newest threat to Steam is called the Epic Games Store, which is thriving and competing due to the sheer popularity of Fortnite, a rare PC exclusive PC game. Furthermore, Epic the developer is spending large sums of money to get timed exclusives from renowned game publishers such as THQ Nordic and Ubisoft on EGS.

So in the end, we are back to discussing the games themselves.

What Google could do to become larger in the gaming market

While Google is looking at significant risks and hurdles as they enter the gaming market, a lot of things can potentially be done to prevent, or at the very least, reduce them. With their money and financial prowess, Google could manufacture their own games or buy out exclusives from its development and publishing partners.

Their tech has the ability to become revolutionary and to provide billions of gamers who could not previously access a certain blockbuster with a way to their favorite game. From this, they are capable of enabling publishers to earn more income whilst charging customers less. And it is probably common knowledge that people would jump at the chance to get a product they want at a reduced price.

Google could potentially possess some extraordinary hardware which ties their strategy together. In the case Google develops something that resembles a slim Nintendo Switch but is capable of streaming high-end PC games over a stable LTE connection or Wi-Fi, then a lot of people, myself included, would want to try it instantly.

In reality, it all comes down to price, enthusiasm, and convenience sooner or later with exclusive games. If Google can hit home with at least two out of these points, it has a serious chance of success. The one thing that Google should NOT do is to give gamers just another way to play Darksiders III.

Personally, I think that is what we are supposed to get. Google could potentially surprise every one of us, but the reality is that tech companies do not want to build their own products. Not a single one in Silicon Valley desires to become a guitar player, they opt to make the guitar instead. And that impulse is understandable. Entertainment has proven to be a hard business all along, so one should not come into gaming if they do not have the willpower to handle the risk.

Gaming industry veteran Jade Raymond has announced on Twitter that she is joining Google as a Vice President.]]>

Jade Raymond, a veteran in the video game industry who participated in the creation of the original Assassin's Creed before coming to EA to work on Star Wars, has got a new position at Google.

Earlier today, Raymond announced on her Twitter that she's “excited” to join Google to work as a vice president. She doesn’t reveal any more details, so it's currently not clear what exactly she is going to do at her new company.

Google is currently working on a new gaming technology called Project Stream, which it plans to officially reveal soon during the Game Developers Conference later this month. Raymond is going to be, at the very least, the second high-profile gaming employment of Google. In January last year, the company also hired Phil Harrison - former Xbox and PlayStation boss – as a VP.

Her most recent job was at EA, where she helped found the Montreal-based Motive Studios and was also in charge of a few other studios including Visceral, the one responsible for the Star Wars games. However, recent turmoil at EA resulted in executive changes and Raymond left the company last October.

Many notable figures have spoken up to congratulate Raymond on her new position. Shannon Loftis, General Manager of Xbox Entertainment Studios, says Google is “lucky” to have Raymond, while Capybara Games Founder & President Nathan Vella expresses his delight with a short message that reads "Congrats, this is rad."

As mentioned, Google intends to reveal what it calls "vision for the future of gaming" at the Game Developers Conference, and it could be something related to streaming. Last year, the company teamed up with Ubisoft to run tests for its Project Stream that allowed Assassin's Creed Odyssey to be played directly through the Google Chrome browser.

The gaming industry has been growing so huge that all the big names in the technology field want a share for their own. And we all know it is only the matter of time before Google – one of the biggest names in the technology field – officially join the gaming industry

The late stage of 2018 marked the first official move of Google in the gaming industry when they announced that they would release a video game streaming technology, which is called Project Stream. Google also used the game Assassin's Creed Odyssey to show off this system’s power.

Project Stream
Project Stream works pretty well with Assassin's Creed Odyssey

And just recently, there have been rumors floating on the internet that Google will also release a new gaming controller. And this controller may have some features that work exclusively for Project Stream.

According to the photos leaked, the design of this controller looks pretty standard. This controller has two joysticks, a d-pad, and both shoulder and trigger buttons in the back. But Google would never make their product that simple. This controller is believed to have a voice assistant compatibility as well with a microphone button. Both of these features will be located near the bottom. If you are really interested in this controller, you can read about the full patent of this controller here.

The images of mock-ups for this controller have been all over on the internet, so we warn you not to take these image too seriously. The corporation has not confirmed anything yet, so anything information now can be faked. And even if there will truly be a new controller by Google in the future, the design of the final product may not be like the design of any mock-ups you are seeing right now.

However, there is still good news for us in this matter. Google has confirmed that they will deliver a special announcement about their plan for the gaming industry on March 19th. This official statement will be a part of the Game Developer’s Conference – the biggest annual event for game developers from around the world. Hopefully, this corporation will include its new streaming technology and its new controller in its announcement this month.

Google is having a great offer for PC gamers who are willing to experiment its new, trial Project Stream, a computer game streaming platform. You only need to play only 1 hour of Assassin's Creed Odyssey and they will reward you the game for free on PC through Uplay. The cost of the game is approx. $20 on Uplay at this moment, however, it costs $35 on consoles. Unfortunately, the reward is limited to US clients, and it's not until January 15th that you can get the game free.

Play the game for 1 hour on the platform and you will get it for free.

Google took its first step into the game streaming industry by announcing Project Stream. The main accessible game on Project Stream right currently is Assassin's Creed Odyssey, chiefly to test the reasonability of Google's platform with a famous game. Assassin's Creed Odyssey requires a pretty powerful system to run on PCs as well as on consoles.

Obviously, Google isn't the only one in its endeavors to be interested in this industry. Microsoft and Sony are also working on the same subject. PlayStation Now from Sony is having a great number of famous games, while Microsoft as of late is telling us that its platform xCloud will serve on a newer generation of consoles which will be released in 2 years later.

Not only tech giants are involving either. Blade, a startup from France along with Nvidia, a famous chip producer, is also working on their own projects that are developing.

The fact Google needs to partake in the industry is fascinating news. Be that as it may, at the present time, the giant won't state whether its Project Stream will be available as a widely used platform. There is a chance that the company is testing to check whether its huge computing system could bolster a similar platform from an outside organization, or if it could provide the backend to these platforms. As of now, the corporation obviously needs more information, and a new-released game seems not too expensive for the return.

Keeping up with the Game of Thrones.]]>

Last week, on Friday the 19th of October, the @Google account tweeted "Winter is coming for Chromebook...". Along with this is a video showing Game of Thrones using a Chromebook to play inside Slides. But this is not just a video, it’s a kind of weird one.

The expected Video

The tweet and the video itself seem to be a crossover event and have a great impact as a new "White Walkers" page is now available on Google's Chromebook site. When first seeing it, people tend to consider it as an out-of-touch marketing strategy, or a late attempt in the very last minutes to make use of achieved licensing. However, as cringey as it is, it is undeniable that it contains some humorous parts.

You can watch the video below:

That is the only good point about the video. Besides it, all of the "White Walkers" marketing strategy is a little bit cringey to the viewers. It is obviously undeniable that some Google employees did try his best to make details of the "New Recruit Orientation: Getting to the Wall" presentation in the form of Google Slides. There also exists a large amount of lore and jokes, though the humorous parts seem to gradually reduce after the first 10 or 12 slides.

Wanna discover some Apps?

Of course, that is to say, if your type is not such kind of long-format humor relating to business. They also invite you to subscribe to HBO NOW to be one of the viewers of the show, and at the same time having discovery of all the possible ways that the White Walkers "work better together". The apps being used on their Chromebooks, which are somehow presumably abused of temperature, are also included. And it is still very hard to understand why someone showed the one phrase showing up just after the "Better Together" feature in the Dev channel just yesterday.

Google also used the Google Blog to announce the appearance of this new marketing strategy. Then if you're a big and loyal fan of Game of Thrones stuff, in love with business jokes, or having the desire to stay in touch with your fellow kids, don’t forget to check it out along with the new site. As far as we know it, we will soon see some related advertisements on TV or YouTube really soon.
