Earlier today, the release date of the new dungeon crawler game Elderborn is revealed, which will be on January 20, 2020, via Steam Early Access. According to the developers, this game is the mix-and-match of both old-school game design and Soulsborne games' mechanics.
The game takes place inside an ancient dungeon that is full of evil monsters - and those monsters need to be put down as soon as possible. Accompany them are a bunch of deadly traps that are ready to take your life at any given time. As a warrior, you will have to head into the dungeon to put down those monsters, once and for all.
According to the developers, the game takes inspiration from many high-octane classical works like the Conan saga of Robert E. Howard, He-Man and the Master of the Universe cartoons, Tarzan comic books, as well as some B-rated movies. For this reason, the game features the 'classical storyline' of a lonesome barbarian hero, whose adventure to find the secret recipe of eternal youth leads him to a dangerous dungeon.

And with all those 'manliness' and 'high-octane' things, there is no surprise when Elderborn also features power-metal soundtracks - to raise the epicness of the game up another notch.
While in the development phase, the game has been released on Steam via Steam Early Access in October 2018, and since then, the game has changed a lot thanks to the creative input of the game's community. According to the developers, the game's main campaign will take around 8 hours to complete - which is the typical number for games of this genre.
Along with that, the game's official release will feature a bunch of new cut-scenes with higher quality, more weapons, and more monsters for you to kill. Also, the game will receive a balance patch based on the feedback of Early Access players.
Elderborn will be available on January 20, 2020, for PC via Steam. The console version of the game will be released later in 2020.
