Recently, an anonymous hacker claimed to have leaked the entirety of Twitch. He posted a link to 125GB of the source code and the payout information of the top 10,000 streamers on 4chan, saying that he intended to “foster more disruption and competition in the online video streaming space” because “their community is a disgusting toxic cesspool”.
These files are public and available for anyone to download. Various sources from Twitch and streamers have confirmed that the leak was real.
“We can confirm a breach has taken place. Our teams are working with urgency to understand the extent of this. We will update the community as soon as additional information is available. Thank you for bearing with us.”
How much do the top Twitch streamers make?
While there is a lot of data leaked, including an unreleased Steam competitor, codenamed Vapor, from Amazon Game Studios, most people are drawn towards the earning of streamers on Twitch.
The leaked file contains the earning of the highest-earning 10,000 streamers on Twitch from August 2019 until October 2021, not including their donations and sponsorship. Surprisingly, the highest-earning streamer is actually a group of Dragon & Dungeon streamers called Critical Role as they made more than $9.6 million.
xQc was "only" in second place with $8.4 million. Meanwhile, summit1g, which was in third place "only" made more than $5.8 million. Ludwig is only in the top 6 even though he broke Twitch records with his 30-day stream.
